## Requirements and responsibilities

- Name the team, server, hostname, owner and affected users for the WordPress site. Record the current version and the actual business flow that must survive the change. Confirm the current dashboard form, plan eligibility, and server capacity before committing a resource change. A one-click catalog listing is discovery, not permission or proof that the connected MCP profile can install it. - Prepare a non-sensitive test input and an acceptance record. Keep access to the app administrator and an independent observer where possible; omit secrets from AI prompts and client reports. - For WordPress, verify the file and database backup scope and a safe target for recovery. Native scheduling, destination settings, staging synchronization and restore remain dashboard actions. Agree a maintenance window and owner before any action that interrupts the service or overwrites data. - A clone or recovered database may start scheduled jobs and carry live payment, booking, mail or webhook credentials. Arrange provider or network controls that prevent external side effects before the copied application can run. If the current xCloud flow cannot guarantee that isolation, use a sanitized fixture or postpone the clone; changing credentials after startup may be too late. ## Illustrative situation

Before changing a booking plugin, a site owner wants a fresh WordPress recovery point that includes appointments in the database and uploaded attachments.

## Choose the approach

- Select files and database because this booking site stores code/media and transactional records in different places. - A completed backup row and a safe restore test provide stronger evidence than pressing Backup Now alone. ## Dashboard and application procedure

### 1. Identify required data

**Where:** WordPress plugin settings and xCloud site

**Permissions:** Authorized WordPress/WooCommerce application administrator or delegated role with rights for this task; hosting access alone is insufficient.

**Inputs:** Site ID, appointment storage, uploads, external attachments

**Action:** List the records and files the booking flow uses. Check whether any calendar or mail provider keeps data outside WordPress.

**Expected result:** A scope list for the on-demand backup.

**Verify:** Ask the booking owner to identify one current appointment and attachment to verify later.

**If it fails:** If critical data is external, record a separate export or provider recovery path.

Capability: Configure and test WordPress in its administrator UI

### 2. Check destination and storage

**Where:** xCloud Site → Site Backup settings

**Permissions:** Authorized xCloud site owner with dashboard rights for the exact setting, backup, staging or restore action and a reviewed target.

**Inputs:** Local/remote destination, retention, free space

**Action:** Read the existing backup destination and file/database scope. Confirm credentials and capacity for the selected storage provider.

**Expected result:** A viable backup configuration before capture.

**Verify:** Inspect the latest successful backup and current destination status.

**If it fails:** If destination is disconnected or full, repair it before requesting a backup.

Capability: Configure native WordPress backup and restore

### 3. Start one on-demand backup

**Where:** xCloud Site → Site Backup → Backup Now

**Permissions:** Authorized xCloud site owner with dashboard rights for the exact setting, backup, staging or restore action and a reviewed target.

**Inputs:** Named site and approved maintenance window

**Action:** Start Backup Now for the chosen scope. Record job ID/time and avoid simultaneous risky edits while it runs.

**Expected result:** A backup job for the intended site.

**Verify:** Watch until the row changes to Completed.

**If it fails:** If the job remains Running or fails, use its error detail; do not treat it as a recovery point.

Capability: Configure native WordPress backup and restore

### 4. Inspect the artifact

**Where:** xCloud Previous Backups

**Permissions:** Authorized xCloud site owner with dashboard rights for the exact setting, backup, staging or restore action and a reviewed target.

**Inputs:** Completed row, timestamp, file/database indicators

**Action:** Open the completed row and check site, snapshot time, storage destination and scope. Compare the time to the latest booking record.

**Expected result:** A backup recent enough for the upcoming plugin change.

**Verify:** Record the completed backup identifier and whether newer appointments exist.

**If it fails:** If database or uploads are missing, create a corrected backup before approving the plugin change.

Capability: Configure native WordPress backup and restore

### 5. Rehearse a safe restore check

**Where:** Separate WordPress target or recovery plan

**Permissions:** Authorized xCloud site owner with dashboard rights for the exact setting, backup, staging or restore action and a reviewed target.

**Inputs:** Non-production destination and sample appointment

**Action:** Where feasible, restore the snapshot to another approved site and verify login, a booking and its attachment. Otherwise document the untested restore risk explicitly.

**Expected result:** Evidence of recoverability or a known gap.

**Verify:** Compare sample record and media with the source baseline.

**If it fails:** Never overwrite the live booking database merely to test a backup.

Capability: Restore a backup

## Maintenance

- Review this task after app or template updates and at the cadence agreed with the owner. Record failures as dated observations rather than assuming host health proves service health. - Watch access changes, backup completion, free storage and external providers. Recheck integrations after credential, DNS, mail or source-data changes. Sources: [xCloud agent capability boundaries](https://github.com/xCloudDev/xcloud-agent-skills/blob/main/plugins/xcloud/reference/capability-map.md); [xCloud MCP documentation and connection profiles](https://app.xcloud.host/mcp/docs); [Site backups in xCloud](https://xcloud.host/docs/site-backups-in-xcloud/); [Manage WordPress core, themes and plugins](https://xcloud.host/docs/manage-and-update-wordpress-core-themes-in-xcloud/); [WordPress security hardening](https://developer.wordpress.org/advanced-administration/security/hardening/); [WordPress roles and capabilities](https://wordpress.org/documentation/article/roles-and-capabilities/); [Create WordPress pages](https://wordpress.org/documentation/article/create-pages/); [Manage WordPress plugins](https://wordpress.org/documentation/article/manage-plugins/); [xCloud restore a WordPress backup to another site](https://xcloud.host/docs/how-to-restore-a-backup-to-another-site/)

## Recovery decisions

- Before data recovery, identify incident time, completed backup, target and records created after the snapshot. Preserve current evidence and live data before replacement. ## AI handoff

Connect an authorized xCloud MCP profile and discover its exact tools and team scope. The packaged REST wrapper is GET-only; use dashboard or app controls for undocumented writes.

### Supported scope

- **Confirm requirements and inspect resources** (mcp; read): Discover the connected profile and operation schema first; only teams granted to the connection are visible. Checkpoint: Confirm exact team, server and site identity. Use dashboard\_url returned by the resource; do not invent a dashboard link. Operation identifiers to discover: teams.index, servers.show, sites.show. Scopes: read:servers, read:sites. Sources: [xCloud MCP documentation and connection profiles](https://app.xcloud.host/mcp/docs); [xCloud agent capability boundaries](https://github.com/xCloudDev/xcloud-agent-skills/blob/main/plugins/xcloud/reference/capability-map.md)

### Copyable agent brief

```text
Inspect the named site's backup scope, destination and latest completed row. Propose one on-demand backup with exact site and interruption considerations; await approval and use only a documented operation if available. Native settings and restore stay dashboard-only.
```

### Manual checkpoints

- Approve exact site, target, cost and any write or maintenance window after inspecting the proposed plan.
- An authorized WordPress administrator must configure and test app users, content, integrations and business rules in the app.
- Native WordPress staging, backup schedule/settings, push/pull and all restores are dashboard-only; Docker restore is dashboard-only and replaces state.
- Reconcile data created after the chosen recovery point before any destructive restore.

## Feature coverage

- **backup decision, evidence and task action** (covered): The procedure identifies the authorized task boundary and observable result. Steps: step-1, step-2, step-3, step-4
- **backup, ongoing operation and recovery** (covered): Recovery and maintenance are checked in the task procedure. Steps: step-4, step-5
