A server rebuild is one of the useful for the system administrators and developers. Whether you need to switch your database engine, upgrade to a newer version, or reset your environment to a clean state, a rebuild lets you reconfigure your server without provisioning new infrastructure from scratch.
Follow the steps to rebuild a server rebuild process on xCloud with easy steps.
Note: This feature is currently available only for xCloud Managed servers. It is not yet supported on self-managed servers, but support for self-managed servers is coming soon.ย
Step 1: Access Your Server Settings #
First, navigate to the server you want to rebuild from your main dashboard. Once the server is open, click on the Management tab in the top navigation menu, and then select the Rebuild Server option.

Step 2: Configure and Rebuild Your Server #
Next, locate the Rebuild Server section within the Settings dashboard. To configure your new setup, choose the Database dropdown, either MySQL or MariaDB and your preferred version you want to install on your server.
Note: You can install your preferred database, whether or not you have used it before.

After configuring the database, choose the web server you originally created (such as OpenLiteSpeed or Nginx) from the available options. Take a moment to review your selections and confirm that everything is correct, as the rebuild will apply these settings to your server. Once you are confident with the configuration, click the Rebuild Server button to start the rebuild process.
Note: You can install your preferred web server, whether or not you have used it before.
Important: A server rebuild will reset your server’s configuration. Make sure to back up any critical data before proceeding.

The system will now begin rebuilding your server with the new configuration. The process typically takes a few minutes to complete, depending on your server size and the components selected.
And that’s it, this is how easily you can rebuild a server in a few clicks. Server rebuilds are an easier way to refresh your environment, switch database engines, or apply major version upgrades without the overhead of creating a new server.
Always remember to back up your data before initiating a rebuild, and double-check your database and web server selections to ensure they match your application’s requirements. If you run into any issues during the process, consult your hosting provider’s documentation or reach out to their support team for assistance.
