AI BOT BLOCKER

Block AI Crawlers at the Server

xCloud's AI Bot Blocker stops AI training and search crawlers, such as GPTBot, ClaudeBot and CCBot, from copying your site. It is one switch per site that blocks over 200 known AI bots at the web server, while Google and other search engines still get in. It is free on every plan.

  • Over 200 AI bots blocked by default
  • Search engine crawlers still allowed
  • Your own allow and block lists

WHY IT MATTERS

Why Block AI Crawlers?

  • Your content, your call

Keep your posts and products out of AI training sets you never agreed to.

  • Less server load

Aggressive crawlers can hit thousands of pages an hour and slow real visitors.

  • Cleaner analytics

Bot visits stop showing up as traffic that was never a person.

WHAT YOU GET

Which AI Bots Does xCloud Block?

The list is based on Perishable Press's Ultimate AI Block List.

  • AI training crawlers

GPTBot, ClaudeBot, CCBot, Bytespider, Meta-ExternalAgent and more.

  • AI search bots

    OAI-SearchBot, PerplexityBot, Claude-SearchBot and others.

  • Assistants, if you choose

Also block ChatGPT-User, Claude-User and other bots that fetch a page for a person.

  • Allow and block lists

Let a listed bot through, or block a user agent that is not on the list.

HOW IT WORKS

How Do You Block AI Crawlers in xCloud?

  1. Open Security

Open the site and go to Security, then Overview & Firewall.

  2. Switch it on

Turn on the switch on the AI Bot Blocker card. There is no Save button.

  3. Adjust the lists

Choose Allow or Block, pick or type a bot, and click Add.

LIMITS AND PLANS

What Should You Know First?

  • Search engines are not blocked

Googlebot and Bingbot are not on the list, so your rankings are not touched.

  • Bots that lie get through

Blocking works on the user agent. A scraper pretending to be a browser is not caught.

  • Nginx and OpenLiteSpeed

On Nginx it needs xCloud to manage the site's config.

  • Free on every plan

Listed on both Free and PRO in the Free vs PRO table.

Frequently Asked Questions

What people ask about AI Bot Blocker on xCloud.

How do I block AI crawlers from my website?

On xCloud, open the site, go to Security, then Overview & Firewall, and turn on the AI Bot Blocker card. Elsewhere, you can add rules to robots.txt, but crawlers do not have to obey it. A server block refuses the request.

Will blocking AI bots hurt my Google rankings?

No. Regular search engine crawlers such as Googlebot are not on the block list. Only AI training, AI search and scraper bots are blocked.

Can I let one AI bot through?

Yes. Choose Allow, pick the bot from the list and click Add. It then shows under Allowed Bots.

Does it block ChatGPT when a person asks it to read my page?

Not by default. Bots that fetch a page because a person asked, such as ChatGPT-User and Claude-User, are allowed. Turn on Also block AI assistants acting for a user to block them too.

Is robots.txt enough to block AI crawlers?

Not always. robots.txt is a request, and some crawlers ignore it. The AI Bot Blocker refuses matching requests at the web server, whatever robots.txt says.
