AUTO HEALING
Auto Healing for the Services Your Sites Need
Auto healing is xCloud's automatic restart for server services. When a server reports that a watched service, such as the web server, MySQL or Redis, has stopped, xCloud starts it again. It is for anyone who would rather not be woken up by a crashed service. It is on every plan, the free plan included, and there is nothing to turn on.
- Restarts the web server, MySQL, Supervisor and Redis
- Covers PHP on Nginx servers and Docker on Docker servers
- Stops after two failed tries, so it never loops
WHY IT MATTERS
Why Restart Services Automatically?
A stopped database is a down site
If MySQL stops, every page shows an error until someone starts it again.
Crashes happen at night
A service can stop at any hour. Auto healing does not wait for you to notice.
No SSH at 3 a.m.
The usual fix is one restart command. xCloud runs it for you.
WHAT YOU GET
Which Services Does Auto Healing Restart?
Web server
Nginx on Nginx servers and OpenLiteSpeed on OpenLiteSpeed servers.
PHP
The PHP version the server needs, on Nginx servers. On OpenLiteSpeed, xCloud does not restart PHP, but it reinstalls a PHP version your sites need if it is missing.
MySQL
MySQL, when the server uses it. MariaDB is not restarted automatically.
Supervisor and SSH
The Supervisor service that keeps your background processes running, and SSH.
Redis
Redis, when it is installed on the server.
Docker and AI agent stacks
On Docker servers: Docker, Nginx, Supervisor and SSH, plus PHP, MySQL and Redis when installed. On AI agent servers: Nginx, SSH and the agent service. On Paperclip servers: Nginx and SSH only.
HOW IT WORKS
How Does Auto Healing Work in xCloud?
The server reports in
Every hour, your server tells xCloud which services are running.
A stopped service is found
xCloud checks whether each watched service is active.
xCloud restarts it
If it has stopped, xCloud starts it again. You can see what happened in the server's Events.
Check the status
Open Management → Settings → Server Utilities to see whether it is Active or Failed.
LIMITS AND PLANS
What Does Auto Healing Not Do?
Not every service
On OpenLiteSpeed, xCloud does not restart PHP, but it reinstalls a PHP version your sites need if it is missing. MariaDB is not restarted automatically, and neither is PostgreSQL. Node.js is not covered, and neither are Plain servers, which send no monitoring reports.
Two tries
After two failed restarts, xCloud stops trying. The count resets once the service is running again, so a later failure gets two new tries.
It does not fix the cause
A restart brings the service back. A full disk or bad config still needs you.
Plans
Free on every plan. Auto healing runs on its own, with nothing to set up and no add-on to buy.
Frequently Asked Questions
What people ask about Auto Healing on xCloud.
What is an auto healing server?
An auto healing server restarts a service on its own when the service stops, instead of waiting for someone to log in. In xCloud, this happens after a monitoring report shows a watched service is not running.
Which services does xCloud auto heal?
On standard servers: the web server (Nginx or OpenLiteSpeed), MySQL, Supervisor, SSH, and Redis when installed. PHP is restarted on Nginx servers. On OpenLiteSpeed, xCloud does not restart PHP, but it reinstalls a PHP version your sites need if it is missing. MariaDB and PostgreSQL are not restarted automatically. On Docker servers: Docker, Nginx, Supervisor and SSH, plus PHP, MySQL and Redis when installed. On AI agent servers: Nginx, SSH and the agent service. On Paperclip servers: Nginx and SSH only.
What happens if a restart fails?
xCloud marks the service Failed and tries again on the next report. After two failed attempts, it stops trying, so a broken service is not restarted in an endless loop. The count resets once the service is running again, so a later failure gets two new tries.
Can I restart a service myself?
Yes. Go to Management, then Settings, and use the buttons in Server Utilities to restart or disable a service.
Do I need to turn auto healing on?
No. There is no switch. It runs in the background for the services listed above.
Is auto healing free?
Yes. Auto healing is on every plan, the free plan included. The monitoring pages are on paid plans, but free plan servers still send the reports auto healing uses.
Let Stopped Services Start Themselves
xCloud restarts the web server, MySQL, Supervisor and Redis when they stop, on every plan.
