Free agency tools / Server Speed Test

How fast does this server respond?

Time to first byte (TTFB) is how long the server takes to start answering — before a single pixel renders. It's the clearest signal of whether hosting, not the front end, is the bottleneck.

How it works

  1. 1Enter a domain — we request it server-to-server and start a timer.
  2. 2Time to first byte is measured before any rendering, then graded fast / average / slow.
  3. 3A slow result points at hosting rather than the front end.

Frequently asked

What is TTFB?

Time to first byte — how long the server takes to start responding. It's the clearest signal of server and hosting performance.

Why is it different from my browser's timing?

We measure server response only, with no browser rendering, DNS or connection setup — so it isolates the server.

Where is it measured from?

From the Cloudflare edge location nearest whoever runs the scan (we print which one). If the site sits behind a CDN, we detect a cache hit and tell you the number reflects the edge, not your origin.
