TEAMS

Team Roles and Permissions for Your Servers

Team roles and permissions on xCloud control what each teammate can see and change. Choose a role, pick the servers or sites they can reach, and tick the permissions they need. This suits agencies and growing teams. Inviting members needs a paid plan.

  • Team Admin, Server Admin and Site Admin roles
  • Limit access to chosen servers or sites
  • Risky permissions are only given by hand

WHY IT MATTERS

Why Do Team Roles and Permissions Matter?

Not everyone on a team needs billing access or a root terminal. Sharing one login gives them both.

  • Less risk

A teammate who only edits one client's site does not need your other servers.

  • Own logins

Each person has their own account and accepts their own invitation.

  • Access that changes

Change or remove someone's access when a project ends, without changing shared passwords.

WHAT YOU GET

What Can You Control for Each Team Member?

  • Three roles

Team Admin, Server Admin and Site Admin, alongside the team owner.

  • Server and site access

Give all, chosen ones plus new ones, or chosen ones only.

  • Tick-box permissions

Covers providers, servers, sites, team, billing, account, white label, add-ons, support and snapshots.

  • Granted by hand

Terminals, custom commands, cron, file manager, SSH and magic login are never added automatically.

  • A limit on granting

An admin can only give access they already hold themselves.

  • More than one team

You can own up to 5 teams by default, and API tokens can reach the teams you allow.

HOW IT WORKS

How Do You Add a Team Member in xCloud?

  1. Open your team

Go to Team Management and open the team.

  2. Add a member

Click Add New Member and enter their Email ID.

  3. Set their access

Choose a User Role, then the servers or sites, then tick Role Permission items.

  4. Send the invitation

Click Send Invitation. They accept it by email.

LIMITS AND PLANS

What Are the Limits of Team Roles?

  • Paid plans to invite

On the free plan, adding a member takes you to billing to upgrade.

  • Fixed roles

There are three built-in roles. You tailor each member's permissions, not a custom role.

  • Site-level access

Limiting to chosen sites is for Site Admins. Server Admins reach sites through their server.

Frequently Asked Questions

What people ask about Team roles and permissions on xCloud.

What roles does xCloud have?

xCloud has three built-in member roles: Team Admin, Server Admin and Site Admin. The team owner sits above them. Server Admins start with server and site permissions, and Site Admins with site permissions.

Can I give someone access to only one site?

Yes. Add them as a Site Admin and choose Chosen sites only. They will see that site and nothing else on the server. You can change this later from the site's Team Access page.

Can I create custom roles?

Not as named roles. Instead, start with one of the three roles and tick or untick permissions for each person, so two Site Admins can have different access.

What does Allow new features automatically do?

It gives a member new permissions as xCloud adds them. Sensitive ones, such as terminals, custom commands, file manager, SSH and magic login, stay off until you grant them by hand.

Can API tokens work across teams?

Yes. API tokens and MCP connections can reach the teams you allow, so a tool can work across several teams with one token.

Do I need a paid plan to add team members?

Yes. Inviting members needs a paid plan. On the free plan, adding a member takes you to billing to upgrade.
