Chatbot UI hosting on xCloud puts a self-hosted ChatGPT-style chat interface for OpenAI and Azure OpenAI models on your own domain. Deploy Chatbot UI and xCloud runs the final published upstream image as a single container behind HTTPS, with no database and no volumes. Chats stay in each visitor's browser, there is no login, and you add your own API key in the settings.
Self-hosted Chatbot UI is an open source chat UI for AI models. Those are upstream's README words, and this template runs the legacy v1 app in the browser: you paste an OpenAI API key into the settings and chat through a familiar conversation view, with folders and prompts. It is a self-hosted front end for models you pay for, not a replacement for ChatGPT itself, and it is licensed MIT.
On xCloud the template runs ghcr.io/mckaywrigley/chatbot-ui main, a frozen snapshot built from revision 5248f25b and pinned by digest, as one container with no database and no volumes. Upstream moved to a rewritten 2.0 codebase, which this is not. There is no authentication, so anyone who can open the URL can use the interface and the chat API.
A self-hosted chat interface normally means pulling an image, wiring ports and environment variables, a reverse proxy, a domain and a certificate before the first message. This is the same result without assembling any of it.
Step 01
Create your xCloud account and pick Chatbot UI from the OneClick catalog. Choose your domain and target server — there are no extra fields to fill in.
Step 02
One click. We bring up the single Chatbot UI container from the upstream-published image, pinned by immutable digest, keep its port on the server's loopback address behind the xCloud proxy, and publish it over HTTPS on your domain. There is no database and no volume.
Step 03
Open your HTTPS URL, open the settings in the sidebar, paste your OpenAI API key and start a conversation. There is no account to create, so add your own access control if the URL should not be public.
A ChatGPT-style interface on your own domain, with your conversations kept in your own browser.
Chat with OpenAI models in a familiar conversation view served from your own domain.
Organise conversations into folders and keep prompts for reuse; both are stored in the visitor's browser.
Switch the API type to azure and set the API version and deployment id in Environment to use an Azure OpenAI deployment.
Set an OpenAI-compatible API host in Environment to send requests through your own gateway or proxy.
Each visitor pastes their own OpenAI key in the app settings, kept in that browser, so nobody can spend yours unless you set one on the server.
Add a Google API key and search engine id in Environment to enable the optional Google search plugin.
Managed hosting for Chatbot UI, so the parts that keep it online are not your problem.
Someone with their own OpenAI key serves a familiar chat page from their own domain instead of a third-party chat site, keeping conversations, folders and prompts in their own browser.
A team already running models on Azure OpenAI sets the API type, host and deployment id in the Environment editor, so staff chat with that deployment through one simple page.
An engineer sets an OpenAI-compatible API host so requests go to their own gateway or proxy, with the front end hosted separately from wherever the models run.
A small group sets a shared key on the server so every visitor can chat, accepting that there is no login and that all usage is billed to that key.

xCloud works really well, I am surprised by its performance being this the release version, I have tried many paid platforms such as runcloud, cloudpages or serveravatar, as well as free platforms such as CyberPanel, CloudPanel or Hestia Control Panel and direct competitors such as SpinupWP and FlyWP. Of all those that I have tried, the platform that works best for WordPress is SpinupWP and I believe that xCloud can reach and surpass that development, its roadmap is promising. Congratulations to the xCloud team, I hope they become the leading platform in the segment, it has all the potential to achieve it!
Brian GeovannyI've been with runcloud for the last 3 years. However, after trying xcloud for the last month, I'm switching over. They are on a roll with their setup.
Kevin PinedaI'm moving my servers to xCloud, a cloud control panel by M Asif Rahman and the WPDeveloper team. Their roadmap looks interesting and no, there are no team mates nor API limits with xCloud! #xCloud #wordpress #hosting
Leo KooHow Cloud Nine Web Elevated Client Experience While Streamlining Hosting Operations using xCloud
Ed EllinghamxCloud is like having an expert server team on call — without the big agency costs. It's given me back my time and given my clients peace of mind. Highly recommended for freelancers and small teams who want reliable performance and security.
Dumitru ButucelxCloud isn't just a solution. It's like one of that friend who got your back when you screw things up pretty bad.
Waqar AhmedTrust me when I say, once people explore the potential of xCloud they gonna switch from other panels, just keep delivering the best tech, lots of love for the team 😍😍
Rahul SinghSo far my experience has been smooth like silk. I didn't imagine that configuring and managing a VPS would be so easy. As of today, I have deployed 8 sites. The support is good, and they treat users with respect, even if they ask stupid questions (myself included). For the future, I hope for greater flexibility in scheduled backups and more comprehensive and consistent documentation. I'm sure that within a few months, xCloud will become the leader in its segment. This community is amazing, and the Staff here is super helpful.
Massimo VillaCame from cloudways then to runcloud then to xcloud. Looks like I'm staying here.
Gerson ElI've recently taken all of my Vultr-hosted sites and gotten rid of cPanel for them to substitute it with xCloud. I have to say, I'm really impressed with xCloud so far! The interface is definitely the standout feature for me.
Tony LewisI came from Cloudways and won't go back. Highly impressed with xCloud. Glad I gave them a chance.
Jared McDowellI like xCloud better than RunCloud, but one thing I'll point out is that some years ago RunCloud was hungry for business, the support was outstanding, and the community was active and helped each other. Maybe it was sold, there was a change in management, or they stopped being hungry, but the quality of the RunCloud offering declined and it hasn't been moving forward quickly. My point is that currently the xCloud team has the edge and it is theirs to keep or lose
David McCanHow Kevin Heinrichs Cut Hosting Costs by 84% While Running WooCommerce & Node.js Sites Efficiently
Kevin HeinrichsI had 150 sites on cloudways and am in the process of moving them to xcloud. Much faster and better priced.
Dan SpinozaDear xCloud Team, I have been using xCloud for some time now and am genuinely impressed with its capabilities and the flexibility it offers by allowing users to bring their own VPS for management. It's a fantastic service, and my experience so far has been very positive. Successful migrated 5 sites on a single server. Xcloud migration tool worked great. There were few hiccups with security plugin like MalCare but disabling the plugin prior to migration worked just fine.
Rahil MaknojiaCame from runcloud. Tried xcloud and never came back.

Jorge de los Reyes MartínezI use Server Avatar and xCloud and I'll sooner use xCloud than Server Avatar personally.

Yes. The Chatbot UI repository carries an MIT licence, so the interface itself costs nothing in licences. xCloud bills for the dedicated Cloud VPS, and your model provider bills separately for the API usage your key generates. Nothing here adds a paid tier.
Yes, and this template does it for you: the upstream-published ghcr.io/mckaywrigley/chatbot-ui image, pinned by digest, as a single container on port 3000 behind HTTPS. It is Chatbot UI Docker hosting with no database, no cache and no named volumes to manage.
Chatbot UI is light: 1 CPU core, 256 MB of RAM and 2 GB of disk cover it, and the 6 GB Cloud VPS sold here is generous for a Chatbot UI cloud server. Nothing is stored on the server, so usage stays small.
In the visitor's browser local storage. Conversations, folders, prompts and the API key are kept there, and nothing is stored on the server. Clearing the browser or switching device loses them, so export what you want to keep.
No. The app has no authentication, so anyone who can open the URL can use the interface and the chat API behind it. If you need restricted access, add HTTP Basic Auth or another gate at your own reverse proxy; this template does not enable it.
Yes. Set the API type to azure, and add the Azure host, API version and deployment id in the Environment editor, then redeploy. You can also point OPENAI_API_HOST at an OpenAI-compatible gateway. The visitor's key is forwarded to the provider with each request.
This is the final published v1 image: upstream's README announced a completely overhauled 2.0 codebase and moved the old code elsewhere. The image is a frozen snapshot, so expect no further updates from this build, and plan around that if you need ongoing fixes.
There is no volume to back up, because the template creates none and the server stores no conversations. Your settings are the optional environment lines in the Environment editor, so note those down. Redeploying recreates the container from the same pinned image.
Only if you want every visitor to use it. Setting OPENAI_API_KEY or GOOGLE_API_KEY in the environment lets anyone who reaches the site spend that key, and the app has no login. Leave them unset so each visitor supplies their own key.
Yes. There is no lock-in — cancel any time. Hosting is billed monthly and charged for what you actually use, so when you delete the server the unused balance is refunded to your account, less up to 10% in payment-processing fees.
Connect your first server in minutes. No plan you have to grow into.
