BLUEPRINTS AND SNAPSHOTS

WordPress Blueprints and Snapshots for New Sites

A WordPress blueprint on xCloud is your saved list of plugins, themes and a setup script, applied when you create a site. A snapshot saves a whole site's files and database, so you can start new sites from it. Both help agencies and builders, and both are free on every plan.

  • Set a default blueprint for your team
  • Add your own plugin and theme ZIP files
  • Create new sites from a full site snapshot

WHY IT MATTERS

Why Use a WordPress Blueprint?

Installing the same plugins by hand on every new site is slow, and it is easy to miss one.

  • Skip repeat setup

New sites start with your plugins, theme and script already in place.

  • One way of working

A shared default means every team member starts a site the same way.

  • Reuse a finished site

Snapshot a site you have already built, and start the next one from it.

WHAT YOU GET

What Is the Difference Between a Blueprint and a Snapshot?

A blueprint is a recipe for a fresh site. A snapshot is a copy of a site that already exists.

  • Themes and plugins

Add items from WordPress.org to a blueprint and choose the active theme.

  • Custom items

Add your own plugins or themes by secure download link or ZIP upload.

  • CLI script

Add a bash script that runs after the site is deployed.

  • Default and clone

Use Set as Default for your team, or Clone Blueprint to make a variation.

  • Site snapshots

Take Snapshot saves the site's files and database, without cache files.

  • Demo domains

Start a new site on a demo domain, then go live on your own.

HOW IT WORKS

How Do You Create and Use a Blueprint?

  1. Create it

Open My Blueprints, click Create New Blueprint and name it.

  2. Fill it

Use the Themes, Plugins, Custom Items and CLI Script tabs, then save.

  3. Use it

When creating a WordPress site, turn on Install from a blueprint and pick one.

  4. Or use a snapshot

Choose Take Snapshot on a site, then pick Snapshots when you create a new one.

LIMITS AND PLANS

What Are the Limits of Blueprints and Snapshots?

  • Free on every plan

Blueprints, custom blueprints and site snapshots are free on every plan.

  • Blueprint contents

A blueprint needs at least 1 plugin and holds up to 20 plugins and 20 custom items.

  • ZIP uploads

Each ZIP can be up to 50 MB, and uploading needs a connected storage provider.

  • WordPress only

Both are for WordPress. Snapshots do not work on multisite, and need the site's size plus 1 GB free.

Frequently Asked Questions

What people ask about Blueprints and snapshots on xCloud.

What is a WordPress blueprint?

In xCloud, a blueprint is a saved set of plugins, themes, custom ZIP files and an optional script. When you create a WordPress site with it, xCloud installs those items for you. It does not copy your content.

Can I add premium plugins to a blueprint?

Yes. Add them as custom items, by secure download link or ZIP upload. Uploads can be up to 50 MB each and need a connected storage provider.

What does a site snapshot include?

A snapshot includes the site's files and database. Cache files and a few xCloud helper files are left out. You can rename, delete or retry a snapshot from Site Snapshots.

Can I share a snapshot with people outside my team?

No. Snapshots are private to your team, and they are stored on the server where you took them.

Should I use a snapshot or a clone?

Use a snapshot when you want to start several new sites from the same saved point. Use a clone when you want one copy of a site right now, on a server you pick.
