BACKUPS
Incremental Backup and Full Backup for WordPress
xCloud backups save your site's files and database on a schedule, as full or incremental backups, locally or on storage you own. If something breaks, restore the site in a few clicks. Site owners and agencies get this on paid plans, and any plan can recreate a site from backups.
- Full or incremental, every 12 hours to monthly
- Up to 2 remote destinations per site, plus local
- Restore to the same site, another site or a new one
WHY IT MATTERS
Why Use Incremental Backups for WordPress?
A full backup copies everything each time. An incremental backup saves what changed since the last one.
Smaller, more often
Back up a busy site more often, without copying every file on every run.
Your own storage
Backups sit in a storage account you control, away from the server they protect.
A way back
A bad update or a deleted page does not have to be the end of your day.
WHAT YOU GET
What Can You Back Up and Restore?

LIMITS AND PLANS
What Are the Limits of xCloud Backups?
Paid plans
Site and server backups are on paid plans. Recreating a site from existing backups works on any plan.
Incremental storage
Google Drive and pCloud take full backups only. Use another provider for incremental.
Restoring elsewhere
Restore to Another Site and Restore to New Site are for WordPress sites.
Server backups
They run at your cloud provider and cost extra. Available on Vultr servers and on many servers you bought through xCloud. Check the server's Backup page. Hostinger has its own dashboard.
Frequently Asked Questions
What people ask about Backups on xCloud.
What is the difference between full and incremental backups?
A full backup copies all the selected files and data on each run. An incremental backup starts from a full copy and then saves only what changed, so later runs have less to copy.
Where can I store WordPress backups?
Locally on the server, or on a provider you connect: Cloudflare R2, DigitalOcean Spaces, Vultr, Backblaze, Hetzner, Wasabi, Google Cloud Storage, Google Drive, pCloud, SFTP or any S3-compatible storage. Each site can use up to 2 remote destinations.
Can I restore a backup to a different site?
Yes, for WordPress. Use Restore to Another Site or Restore to New Site from the backup's menu, then pick the server and site. Restoring the same site lets you choose files, database or both.
Are server backups the same as site backups?
No. Server backups are made by your cloud provider and cover the whole server. Site backups are made by xCloud and let you restore one site. You can use site backups alone, or add server backups for extra safety.
Do xCloud backups include PostgreSQL databases?
No. Site backups do not include PostgreSQL databases, so back those up another way.
Are backups free on xCloud?
Site and server backups are on paid plans. On the free plan, the Site Backup menu is locked, but you can still recreate a site from existing backups.
Keep a Way Back for Every Site
Schedule backups to storage you own, and restore them when you need to.
