DATABASE TOOLS
Adminer and phpMyAdmin, One Click From Your Site
Adminer and phpMyAdmin are tools for viewing and editing a database in your browser. On xCloud, you open them from your dashboard without typing a database password, and create databases and users there too. They are made for developers and site owners, and are free on every plan.
- Sign in without typing a database password
- Turn Adminer on only when you need it
- Create databases and users from the server page
WHY IT MATTERS
Why Use Adminer or phpMyAdmin Through xCloud?
A database tool left open on a public address is a risk. Installing one by hand takes time as well.
Off until you need it
Adminer is off by default. Turning it off removes its file from your site.
No password to find
xCloud signs you in with a one-time link, so you do not look up credentials.
A hard-to-guess file
Adminer installs under a random file name, not a name bots look for.
WHAT YOU GET
What Database Tools Does xCloud Include?
Adminer
Turn on the switch for a site, then click Launch Adminer.
phpMyAdmin
Enable it once per server, then click Open phpMyAdmin from a site or the server.
Databases
Add Database creates a database, with an optional user and password.
Database users
Add Database User, and choose which databases that user can access.
Your existing database
Connect a database on another host when you create a site. xCloud tests the connection first.
Team-wide controls
Turn off Adminer for the team, or have it switch itself off after a set time.

LIMITS AND PLANS

Server needs
phpMyAdmin needs MySQL or MariaDB and a web server, so not Plain servers. PostgreSQL uses pgAdmin.
Frequently Asked Questions
What people ask about Database tools on xCloud.
What is Adminer?
Adminer is a small database management tool that runs from a single PHP file. You use it in your browser to view tables, run queries and edit data.
Is Adminer or phpMyAdmin better?
Both let you manage a database in your browser. On xCloud, Adminer is set per site and is easy to turn off again. phpMyAdmin is enabled once per server, and also works for Node.js apps, where Adminer does not.
Is it safe to leave Adminer turned on?
It is safer to turn it off when you finish. Turning it off removes the file from your site. A team can also set Adminer to switch off by itself after a chosen time.
How do I create a new database and user?
Open the server's Database page and click Add Database. Add a user there, or click Add Database User later and tick the databases it can access.
Can I use a database hosted somewhere else?
Yes. When you create a site, open More Advanced Settings and choose Add Your Existing Database. Enter the host, port, user, name and password, and xCloud tests the connection before it creates the site. This works on every plan.
