What is 2FAuth?

A self-hosted, single-user 2FA and TOTP code manager. It stores your authenticator secrets so you can generate codes from a browser instead of an app. It is open source, and this template deploys version 6.1.3.

Can you self-host 2FAuth?

Yes — that is what this is. Self-hosting normally means running the container, keeping its data on a volume, and setting up a domain and a certificate yourself. On xCloud 2FAuth is a OneClick app, so the server, the domain and the SSL are provisioned for you in about five minutes.

Do I need technical skills?

No. There is no terminal, no Docker Compose file to edit and no setup script to run. You pick a plan, we deploy, open the URL and register.

Can more than one person use it?

No. 2FAuth is single-user by design: the first account registered on the domain becomes the only user, and it refuses to create more.

What must I back up?

Two things. First, the APP_KEY, generated at deploy and shown in the site's Environment editor. Save it in a password manager. If you turn on per-account secret encryption, losing it makes every stored secret unrecoverable. Second, the twofauth_data volume, which holds the database. Together they are everything you need to restore.

What happens if I lose the server?

You lose the codes unless you have a backup. Your secrets live on this server, so treat the APP_KEY and the volume backup as the recovery path, and keep an offline copy of your accounts' recovery codes too.

Is it safe to keep 2FA codes next to other apps?

It is a trade-off. Running your 2FA manager on the same server as other apps and passwords means one server holds more than one factor. Many people keep it on a server of its own for that reason. It is a dedicated Cloud VPS, so that is your call.

What are the server requirements?

The template manifest asks for 256 MB of RAM, 1 CPU core and 1 GB of disk as a floor. This page sells the 6 GB tier, which is far above that and leaves room for other apps.

Where does my data live?

On your own server. 2FAuth keeps its SQLite database, sessions and logs on a persistent named volume that survives a restart, and backups run on the schedule you set. There is no third party holding the secrets.

Can I run other apps on the same server?

Yes. It is a dedicated Cloud VPS, not a locked appliance, so you can deploy other OneClick apps or your own sites beside it as long as the resources are there. See the trade-off above before you do.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. There is no lock-in — cancel any time. Hosting is billed monthly and charged for what you actually use, so when you delete the server the unused balance is refunded to your account, less up to 10% in payment-processing fees.
