Anubis hosting puts a browser proof-of-work check in front of your website on a domain you control. Deploy Anubis v1.27.0 as a self-hosted bot protection proxy: xCloud runs the official image, generates the Ed25519 signing key, serves it over HTTPS and forwards visitors to your origin once they pass, so the check sits in front of your site without you assembling the proxy, the key or the certificate.
Self-hosted Anubis is a bot protection proxy. Its README calls it a Web AI Firewall Utility that weighs your connection with one or more challenges to protect upstream resources from scraper bots, and says it is built to be as lightweight as possible. It issues a browser proof-of-work challenge before forwarding HTTP traffic to your origin. It suits sites where the challenge should run on their own server rather than through a third-party challenge service.
On xCloud the template runs the official ghcr.io/techarohq/anubis v1.27.0 image as a single container pinned by immutable digest, with a generated Ed25519 signing key and the origin URL and hostname you enter. It has no admin account, dashboard or volume. Under the default policy only clients that identify as browsers are challenged, so curl and API clients pass through.
Running Anubis yourself means pulling the image, generating a signing key, wiring the origin and Host header, and putting a domain and certificate in front of it. This is the same result without assembling any of it.
Step 01
Create your xCloud account, pick Anubis from the OneClick catalog and choose the domain visitors will use. Enter the Protected origin URL and its hostname.
Step 02
One click. We start the pinned Anubis container, generate its Ed25519 signing key, keep the metrics port unpublished and publish the challenge service over HTTPS on your domain.
Step 03
Visit your domain in a browser. Anubis shows its short "Making sure you're not a bot" check, then forwards you to your protected origin with the hostname you entered.
A challenge proxy in front of one origin, configured once and read on every start.
Visitors using a browser complete a short challenge before any request is forwarded to your origin.
After a passed check, requests are forwarded to the origin URL you entered, with your origin hostname sent as the Host header and TLS name.
A generated Ed25519 key signs challenge cookies and tokens, so visitors who already passed are not challenged again after a restart.
The image's embedded default policy applies from first start; browsers are challenged and clients that do not identify as a browser are let through.
REDIRECT_DOMAINS is set to your site's domain, so Anubis only redirects back to itself after a check.
The official anubis --healthcheck probe watches the container on an unpublished metrics port, so the check never depends on your origin.
Managed hosting for Anubis, so the parts that keep it online are not your problem.
Point Anubis at your website's URL so browser visitors complete a short challenge before their requests are forwarded.
Front an application you run elsewhere with a challenge page on its own domain, without changing the application.
The generated signing key is stored in the environment, so visitors who passed are not asked again when the container restarts.
Run the check on a domain you control, with HTTPS, instead of relying on a third party's hosted challenge page.

xCloud works really well, I am surprised by its performance being this the release version, I have tried many paid platforms such as runcloud, cloudpages or serveravatar, as well as free platforms such as CyberPanel, CloudPanel or Hestia Control Panel and direct competitors such as SpinupWP and FlyWP. Of all those that I have tried, the platform that works best for WordPress is SpinupWP and I believe that xCloud can reach and surpass that development, its roadmap is promising. Congratulations to the xCloud team, I hope they become the leading platform in the segment, it has all the potential to achieve it!
Brian GeovannyI've been with runcloud for the last 3 years. However, after trying xcloud for the last month, I'm switching over. They are on a roll with their setup.
Kevin PinedaI'm moving my servers to xCloud, a cloud control panel by M Asif Rahman and the WPDeveloper team. Their roadmap looks interesting and no, there are no team mates nor API limits with xCloud! #xCloud #wordpress #hosting
Leo KooHow Cloud Nine Web Elevated Client Experience While Streamlining Hosting Operations using xCloud
Ed EllinghamxCloud is like having an expert server team on call — without the big agency costs. It's given me back my time and given my clients peace of mind. Highly recommended for freelancers and small teams who want reliable performance and security.
Dumitru ButucelxCloud isn't just a solution. It's like one of that friend who got your back when you screw things up pretty bad.
Waqar AhmedTrust me when I say, once people explore the potential of xCloud they gonna switch from other panels, just keep delivering the best tech, lots of love for the team 😍😍
Rahul SinghSo far my experience has been smooth like silk. I didn't imagine that configuring and managing a VPS would be so easy. As of today, I have deployed 8 sites. The support is good, and they treat users with respect, even if they ask stupid questions (myself included). For the future, I hope for greater flexibility in scheduled backups and more comprehensive and consistent documentation. I'm sure that within a few months, xCloud will become the leader in its segment. This community is amazing, and the Staff here is super helpful.
Massimo VillaCame from cloudways then to runcloud then to xcloud. Looks like I'm staying here.
Gerson ElI've recently taken all of my Vultr-hosted sites and gotten rid of cPanel for them to substitute it with xCloud. I have to say, I'm really impressed with xCloud so far! The interface is definitely the standout feature for me.
Tony LewisI came from Cloudways and won't go back. Highly impressed with xCloud. Glad I gave them a chance.
Jared McDowellI like xCloud better than RunCloud, but one thing I'll point out is that some years ago RunCloud was hungry for business, the support was outstanding, and the community was active and helped each other. Maybe it was sold, there was a change in management, or they stopped being hungry, but the quality of the RunCloud offering declined and it hasn't been moving forward quickly. My point is that currently the xCloud team has the edge and it is theirs to keep or lose
David McCanHow Kevin Heinrichs Cut Hosting Costs by 84% While Running WooCommerce & Node.js Sites Efficiently
Kevin HeinrichsI had 150 sites on cloudways and am in the process of moving them to xcloud. Much faster and better priced.
Dan SpinozaDear xCloud Team, I have been using xCloud for some time now and am genuinely impressed with its capabilities and the flexibility it offers by allowing users to bring their own VPS for management. It's a fantastic service, and my experience so far has been very positive. Successful migrated 5 sites on a single server. Xcloud migration tool worked great. There were few hiccups with security plugin like MalCare but disabling the plugin prior to migration worked just fine.
Rahil MaknojiaCame from runcloud. Tried xcloud and never came back.

Anubis needs one core, 256 MB of RAM and 1 GB of disk per the manifest, and a verify run measured Anubis idling at about 13 MiB. The 6 GB tier sold here is the smallest Cloud VPS in the OneClick family, so memory is never the constraint.
Yes. Anubis is MIT licensed, per the LICENSE file at the v1.27.0 tag, so the code is free to run. What xCloud bills is the dedicated Cloud VPS, while the signing key and configuration that protect your site stay in your own environment.
Yes, and this is Anubis Docker hosting prepared for you: the template runs the official ghcr.io/techarohq/anubis v1.27.0 image as one container, pinned by immutable digest, with your origin URL and hostname as install fields and HTTPS in front on your domain. There is no volume or compose file to write.
Not under the default policy. Browsers are challenged, while clients that do not identify as a browser, such as curl, scripts and API clients, are let through. Do not treat it as a guarantee against all bots or scrapers; it filters clients that present as browsers.
Not by name or 127.0.0.1. The install runs on its own isolated network, so the origin must be reachable over the network from the container, typically through a public URL. Enter that URL and its hostname in the two install fields.
Yes, if the origin is also publicly reachable. Anubis filters only traffic that arrives through its own domain, so restrict the origin to accept requests from the Anubis server, or keep it on a hostname that visitors never see.
Yes, with no extra setting. The server passes Anubis the real visitor IP, so a passed check holds across Cloudflare edges. Leave CUSTOM_REAL_IP_HEADER unset. If you change TARGET later, also set TARGET_HOST and TARGET_SNI to the new origin hostname.
No. There is no administrator user, default password, dashboard or in-app settings screen. Settings are read from the site's Environment on every start, so edit them there and Save & Redeploy. Access control is the challenge plus whatever your origin requires.
A backup is the generated ED25519_PRIVATE_KEY_HEX from the Environment configuration. The default store is in memory, so there is no application data volume to copy. Replacing the key makes every visitor pass the check again, which is harmless but visible.
Nothing upgrades it for you: the image is pinned to v1.27.0 by immutable digest. When a newer template version is published, back up the Environment with its signing key, read the upstream release notes and adopt that version, keeping the same key so passed visitors are not challenged again.
It is your own Anubis on a dedicated Cloud VPS that xCloud provisions, not a shared challenge service. The container, the signing key and the origin settings belong to your install, and the challenge page is served over HTTPS on your domain.
Yes. There is no lock-in — cancel any time. Hosting is billed monthly and charged for what you actually use, so when you delete the server the unused balance is refunded to your account, less up to 10% in payment-processing fees.
Connect your first server in minutes. No plan you have to grow into.
