Deploy faster-whisper hosting and run a self-hosted speech-to-text server for Home Assistant voice on a dedicated Cloud VPS. xCloud starts the pinned LinuxServer.io faster-whisper image on the CPU, downloads the speech model on first start, keeps it on a persistent volume and publishes the Wyoming port. There is no web page or login, so you restrict who can reach the port.
faster-whisper is a reimplementation of OpenAI's Whisper speech recognition model using CTranslate2, a fast inference engine for Transformer models. The LinuxServer.io container packages it as a Wyoming protocol server, which Home Assistant voice assistants and other Wyoming clients use to turn spoken audio into written text, an open-source engine you control. Run on your own server it is a self-hosted faster-whisper, an alternative to a cloud speech-to-text API such as Google Cloud Speech-to-Text, with the engine under the MIT licence.
On xCloud it is the community LinuxServer.io image lscr.io/linuxserver/faster-whisper v3.8.1-ls9, pinned by digest and running on the CPU. The faster_whisper_config volume caches the downloaded model. It has no web page, no OpenAI-style HTTP API and no authentication, so the published Wyoming port needs your firewall.
A faster-whisper server normally means the Wyoming-enabled image, a model download, a model cache volume, a published port and a firewall decision before the first transcription. This is the same result without assembling any of it.
Step 01
Create your xCloud account and pick faster-whisper from the OneClick catalog. Choose a server; the install form has no fields and there is no domain, because the service is a raw TCP port, not a website.
Step 02
One click. We start lscr.io/linuxserver/faster-whisper v3.8.1-ls9, pinned by digest, on the CPU, mount faster_whisper_config at /config and publish container port 10300 on a host port. The model downloads first, taking two to five minutes.
Step 03
In Home Assistant add the Wyoming Protocol integration and enter the server address and port shown. Then restrict that TCP port to your Home Assistant host in your firewall, because anyone who can reach it can send audio.
faster-whisper v3.8.1 runs here as a CPU Wyoming server, with its downloaded models kept on a volume you own.
faster-whisper reimplements OpenAI's Whisper model on CTranslate2, a fast inference engine for Transformer models, per the image description.
The container serves the Wyoming protocol, so Home Assistant voice assistants and other Wyoming clients can send audio and get transcripts.
There is no browser interface and no OpenAI-compatible HTTP endpoint. Clients connect to the raw TCP port with Wyoming only.
The model defaults to auto, which is base-int8 on amd64 and tiny-int8 on arm64, and you can set larger ones in the environment. Larger models need more memory and CPU.
The speech model downloads from Hugging Face on first start and is cached on faster_whisper_config, so later starts skip the download.
The Wyoming port has no authentication and audio travels unencrypted. Firewall it to your own clients, or use a private network.
Managed hosting for faster-whisper, so the parts that keep it online are not your problem.
Point the Wyoming Protocol integration at this server so spoken commands are transcribed on a machine you control.
Transcribe audio from Wyoming clients on your own server instead of sending it to a hosted speech service.
Set a bigger model in the environment, accepting that it needs more memory and CPU, and compare accuracy on your own voice.
Let more than one Wyoming client use the same server, restricting the port to the addresses of those clients.

xCloud works really well, I am surprised by its performance being this the release version, I have tried many paid platforms such as runcloud, cloudpages or serveravatar, as well as free platforms such as CyberPanel, CloudPanel or Hestia Control Panel and direct competitors such as SpinupWP and FlyWP. Of all those that I have tried, the platform that works best for WordPress is SpinupWP and I believe that xCloud can reach and surpass that development, its roadmap is promising. Congratulations to the xCloud team, I hope they become the leading platform in the segment, it has all the potential to achieve it!
Brian GeovannyI've been with runcloud for the last 3 years. However, after trying xcloud for the last month, I'm switching over. They are on a roll with their setup.
Kevin PinedaI'm moving my servers to xCloud, a cloud control panel by M Asif Rahman and the WPDeveloper team. Their roadmap looks interesting and no, there are no team mates nor API limits with xCloud! #xCloud #wordpress #hosting
Leo KooHow Cloud Nine Web Elevated Client Experience While Streamlining Hosting Operations using xCloud
Ed EllinghamxCloud is like having an expert server team on call — without the big agency costs. It's given me back my time and given my clients peace of mind. Highly recommended for freelancers and small teams who want reliable performance and security.
Dumitru ButucelxCloud isn't just a solution. It's like one of that friend who got your back when you screw things up pretty bad.
Waqar AhmedTrust me when I say, once people explore the potential of xCloud they gonna switch from other panels, just keep delivering the best tech, lots of love for the team 😍😍
Rahul SinghSo far my experience has been smooth like silk. I didn't imagine that configuring and managing a VPS would be so easy. As of today, I have deployed 8 sites. The support is good, and they treat users with respect, even if they ask stupid questions (myself included). For the future, I hope for greater flexibility in scheduled backups and more comprehensive and consistent documentation. I'm sure that within a few months, xCloud will become the leader in its segment. This community is amazing, and the Staff here is super helpful.
Massimo VillaCame from cloudways then to runcloud then to xcloud. Looks like I'm staying here.
Gerson ElI've recently taken all of my Vultr-hosted sites and gotten rid of cPanel for them to substitute it with xCloud. I have to say, I'm really impressed with xCloud so far! The interface is definitely the standout feature for me.
Tony LewisI came from Cloudways and won't go back. Highly impressed with xCloud. Glad I gave them a chance.
Jared McDowellI like xCloud better than RunCloud, but one thing I'll point out is that some years ago RunCloud was hungry for business, the support was outstanding, and the community was active and helped each other. Maybe it was sold, there was a change in management, or they stopped being hungry, but the quality of the RunCloud offering declined and it hasn't been moving forward quickly. My point is that currently the xCloud team has the edge and it is theirs to keep or lose
David McCanHow Kevin Heinrichs Cut Hosting Costs by 84% While Running WooCommerce & Node.js Sites Efficiently
Kevin HeinrichsI had 150 sites on cloudways and am in the process of moving them to xcloud. Much faster and better priced.
Dan SpinozaDear xCloud Team, I have been using xCloud for some time now and am genuinely impressed with its capabilities and the flexibility it offers by allowing users to bring their own VPS for management. It's a fantastic service, and my experience so far has been very positive. Successful migrated 5 sites on a single server. Xcloud migration tool worked great. There were few hiccups with security plugin like MalCare but disabling the plugin prior to migration worked just fine.
Rahil MaknojiaCame from runcloud. Tried xcloud and never came back.

Yes, and this template is faster-whisper Docker hosting without the setup: the lscr.io/linuxserver/faster-whisper v3.8.1-ls9 image pinned by digest, CPU only, with a config volume and the Wyoming TCP port published. LinuxServer.io, not the engine's authors, publishes the image.
The template minimum is 1 GB of RAM, 2 CPU cores and 5 GB of disk for the default model. Larger models such as small-int8 or medium-int8 are more accurate but need more memory and CPU. This page sells the 6 GB tier.
In Home Assistant add the Wyoming Protocol integration and enter the server address and port from the credentials. Any other Wyoming client connects the same way. Wait for the first start to finish, because the port opens only after the model loads.
No, not in this template. It serves the Wyoming protocol only and has no web page, so you cannot call a /v1/audio/transcriptions endpoint. Other projects built on faster-whisper add that API, but this install does not.
No. The Wyoming protocol has no authentication, so anyone who can reach the TCP port can send audio and receive transcripts and use your CPU, and audio is unencrypted. Restrict the port to your clients' addresses, or use a VPN.
By default WHISPER_MODEL is auto: base-int8 on amd64 and tiny-int8 on arm64. You can set a larger one, the language and the beam size in the Environment editor, then redeploy to download the new model.
Yes. faster-whisper is MIT-licensed, and the LinuxServer.io image repository is GPL-3.0, so the software itself costs nothing; only the Cloud VPS underneath is a recurring cost. The first start also needs outbound internet to download the model.
Back up the faster_whisper_config volume only if you want to keep the downloaded models, because they can simply be downloaded again. There is no database and no user data to protect. Nothing schedules the copy, so run it yourself if you want one.
Nothing upgrades itself: v3.8.1-ls9 is pinned by digest. To upgrade, back up the faster_whisper_config volume if you want to keep the models, read the LinuxServer.io release notes, then adopt a newer template version. Check that your clients reconnect.
It is faster-whisper on a dedicated Cloud VPS under your xCloud login, a faster-whisper cloud of your own that you reach by IP and port, with no domain or HTTPS. Setting LOCAL_ONLY, even to false, stops model downloads, so leave it unset.
Yes. There is no lock-in — cancel any time. Hosting is billed monthly and charged for what you actually use, so when you delete the server the unused balance is refunded to your account, less up to 10% in payment-processing fees.
Connect your first server in minutes. No plan you have to grow into.
