What is Label Studio?

Is Label Studio free?

Yes — Label Studio Community Edition is free and open source under the Apache License 2.0. What you pay xCloud for is the dedicated server it runs on and the management around it, not the application itself.

Can I self-host Label Studio?

Yes — that is exactly what this template deploys. It brings up the vendor-maintained Label Studio 1.23.0 image alongside a private PostgreSQL 17.6 database, both pinned by immutable digest, mounts its two persistent volumes and publishes it over HTTPS on your domain in minutes instead of assembled by hand.

How do I sign in for the first time?

There is no generated administrator account. Open your HTTPS URL after installation and create the first account yourself through Label Studio's own signup screen.

What does xCloud configure automatically?

A private PostgreSQL database with a generated name, user and password, both persistent volumes, the domain and the HTTPS route. Only the Label Studio web interface is published through xCloud-managed ingress — PostgreSQL stays private to the internal network.

Does this include HumanSignal Enterprise or Cloud features?

No. This template deploys Label Studio Community Edition only. HumanSignal Cloud, Enterprise and other commercial services or features are not included.

Is public signup enabled by default?

Yes — that is Label Studio's own default, and the template does not change it. If the workspace should be private, disable public signup in Organization settings once your intended users have accounts.

What should I back up?

label_studio_data and label_studio_db together, from a consistent point in time. The data volume holds uploaded task assets and application-managed files; the database volume holds users, projects, task metadata, annotations and configuration.

How do I rotate the database password?

Editing the environment values alone does not rotate the existing PostgreSQL role password. Change the PostgreSQL role password first, then update POSTGRE_PASSWORD and POSTGRES_PASSWORD together in the Environment editor before Save & Redeploy.

Does xCloud automatically back up or update Label Studio?

No. The template pins Label Studio 1.23.0 and PostgreSQL 17.6-alpine by immutable digest; a catalog re-sync affects new installations only. Review upstream migration notes and back up both volumes together before changing either pinned image, then verify sign-in, project access and annotation read-back.

What are the server requirements?

The template manifest asks for 2 GB of RAM, two CPU cores and 10 GB of disk as a floor. This page sells the 6 GB tier per the same rule every OneClick app uses — comfortable headroom for PostgreSQL running alongside the application, with room to grow storage for larger datasets and more annotators.

What survives a restart?

Everything on label_studio_data and label_studio_db, because both are persistent named volumes. A restart does not touch an existing project, its tasks, annotations or configuration.

Is xCloud officially partnered with Label Studio?

No. No official partnership or endorsement between xCloud and the Label Studio project or HumanSignal has been verified. This is a deployment and server-management option for the open-source Label Studio Community Edition.

Can I run other apps on the same server?

Yes. It is a dedicated Cloud VPS, not a locked appliance, so you can deploy other OneClick apps or your own sites beside it as long as the resources are there.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. There is no lock-in — cancel any time. Hosting is billed monthly and charged for what you actually use, so when you delete the server the unused balance is refunded to your account, less up to 10% in payment-processing fees.
