LocalAI Hosting Live In 5 Minutes

Deploy LocalAI hosting and give your team a self-hosted OpenAI-compatible AI server on your own domain. xCloud deploys the official LocalAI v4.10.0 CPU image, generates the API key and session secret, mounts four persistent volumes and publishes it over HTTPS in minutes. User authentication is enforced from the first request, no model is preloaded, and there is no GPU support in this template.

What is LocalAI?

Self-hosted LocalAI is, in its README's words, the open-source AI engine: run any model, whether LLMs, vision, voice, image or video, on any hardware, with no GPU required. It is a small core whose backends, such as llama.cpp and whisper.cpp, are pulled on demand, and it offers drop-in API compatibility with OpenAI, Anthropic and ElevenLabs, multi-user API key auth, built-in agents and a web UI. It stands in for calling a hosted AI API, under the MIT licence.

On xCloud the template runs the localai/localai v4.10.0 CPU image as a single container, pinned by immutable digest, with four persistent volumes. HTTPS is published on your domain behind a generated API key and a first-account admin. No model is preloaded, there is no GPU, and uploads above roughly 100 MB may be rejected.

From Sign-Up to Your First Chat In Just 3 Easy Steps

A private inference server normally means a container image, authentication, volumes for models and backends, a domain and a certificate before the first prompt. This is the same result without assembling any of it.

  1. Step 01

Create your xCloud account, pick LocalAI from the OneClick catalog and choose a domain. There are no extra fields — xCloud generates the API key and session secret for you.

  2. Step 02

    We Deploy It For You

One click. We run the official LocalAI CPU image, pinned by immutable digest, as a single container with its port bound to loopback, mount the localai_models, localai_backends, localai_configuration and localai_data volumes, and publish it over HTTPS on your domain.

  3. Step 03

    Register And Install A Model

Save the API key from the installation credentials, open your HTTPS LocalAI URL and register — the first account becomes the administrator. Open Models, install one from the gallery, then chat in the UI or call /v1/chat/completions with your Bearer key.

Everything LocalAI Does, On Your Own Server

LocalAI runs in full here: an OpenAI-compatible API and web UI on your own domain, with authentication already switched on.

  • OpenAI-Compatible API

Point existing SDKs and tools at your LocalAI URL and authenticate with the generated Bearer API key.

  • Many Modalities, One Interface

Language, vision, voice, image and video models sit behind one API, with each backend downloaded on demand.

  • Model Gallery

Browse and install models from the web gallery in one click instead of fetching and configuring files by hand.

  • Users, Roles And API Keys

Admin and user roles, per-user API keys and usage tracking; the first registered account is the administrator.

  • Approval-Mode Sign-Ups

Later registrations stay pending until an admin approves them; switch to invite-only or open registration and redeploy if you prefer.

  • Agent Features

LocalAI includes agent features — tools, RAG, MCP and skills — for teams that want more than chat.

Everything You Need To Run Your AI Server 24/7

Managed hosting for LocalAI, so the parts that keep it online are not your problem.

  • LocalAI v4.10.0 deployed instantly
  • Official image pinned by digest
  • API key generated for you
  • User authentication enforced
  • Free SSL certificate
  • Server backups and snapshots
  • Server security updates included
  • 30+ server locations
  • Unused balance refunded

What You Can Do With LocalAI

  • A private endpoint for your apps

Point existing OpenAI-style SDKs and tools at your own LocalAI URL with the generated Bearer key, so prompts do not leave your server.

  • AI for privacy-sensitive teams

Give an organisation that cannot send data to hosted AI APIs a shared chat UI and API on infrastructure it controls.

  • Trying open models on CPU

Install a small GGUF model from the gallery and get a real chat completion on a CPU-only server, before deciding whether you need more.

  • One API for several modalities

Serve text, vision, voice, image and video models behind the same interface instead of running a separate tool for each.

LocalAI vs Alternatives

OpenAI API
A hosted service where prompts go to the provider. As a localai alternative to the OpenAI API, LocalAI answers the same style of API call from your own server, with models you install and no claim of matching hosted quality.
Ollama
Ollama is another way to self-host open language models, with its own runner and an xCloud template. In a localai vs ollama choice, LocalAI's README lists language, vision, voice, image and video models plus OpenAI, Anthropic and ElevenLabs API compatibility in one engine.
Open WebUI
Open WebUI is a chat front end with its own xCloud template, rather than an inference engine. It can sit in front of an OpenAI-compatible endpoint such as LocalAI. Compare it with LocalAI's built-in UI.
AnythingLLM
AnythingLLM is a document-chat and agent workspace with its own xCloud template that can connect to a model server instead of running models itself.

See why agencies, developers, startups, and growing businesses choose xCloud to power their projects.

xCloud works really well, I am surprised by its performance being this the release version, I have tried many paid platforms such as runcloud, cloudpages or serveravatar, as well as free platforms such as CyberPanel, CloudPanel or Hestia Control Panel and direct competitors such as SpinupWP and FlyWP. Of all those that I have tried, the platform that works best for WordPress is SpinupWP and I believe that xCloud can reach and surpass that development, its roadmap is promising. Congratulations to the xCloud team, I hope they become the leading platform in the segment, it has all the potential to achieve it!
Brian Geovanny
I've been with runcloud for the last 3 years. However, after trying xcloud for the last month, I'm switching over. They are on a roll with their setup.

I'm moving my servers to xCloud, a cloud control panel by M Asif Rahman and the WPDeveloper team. Their roadmap looks interesting and no, there are no team mates nor API limits with xCloud! #xCloud #wordpress #hosting

xCloud is like having an expert server team on call — without the big agency costs. It's given me back my time and given my clients peace of mind. Highly recommended for freelancers and small teams who want reliable performance and security.

xCloud isn't just a solution. It's like one of that friend who got your back when you screw things up pretty bad.

Trust me when I say, once people explore the potential of xCloud they gonna switch from other panels, just keep delivering the best tech, lots of love for the team 😍😍

So far my experience has been smooth like silk. I didn't imagine that configuring and managing a VPS would be so easy. As of today, I have deployed 8 sites. The support is good, and they treat users with respect, even if they ask stupid questions (myself included). For the future, I hope for greater flexibility in scheduled backups and more comprehensive and consistent documentation. I'm sure that within a few months, xCloud will become the leader in its segment. This community is amazing, and the Staff here is super helpful.

Came from cloudways then to runcloud then to xcloud. Looks like I'm staying here.
Gerson El
I've recently taken all of my Vultr-hosted sites and gotten rid of cPanel for them to substitute it with xCloud. I have to say, I'm really impressed with xCloud so far! The interface is definitely the standout feature for me.
Tony Lewis
I came from Cloudways and won't go back. Highly impressed with xCloud. Glad I gave them a chance.
Jared McDowell
I like xCloud better than RunCloud, but one thing I'll point out is that some years ago RunCloud was hungry for business, the support was outstanding, and the community was active and helped each other. Maybe it was sold, there was a change in management, or they stopped being hungry, but the quality of the RunCloud offering declined and it hasn't been moving forward quickly. My point is that currently the xCloud team has the edge and it is theirs to keep or lose

Dear xCloud Team, I have been using xCloud for some time now and am genuinely impressed with its capabilities and the flexibility it offers by allowing users to bring their own VPS for management. It's a fantastic service, and my experience so far has been very positive. Successful migrated 5 sites on a single server. Xcloud migration tool worked great. There were few hiccups with security plugin like MalCare but disabling the plugin prior to migration worked just fine.

Frequently Asked Questions

Feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns you may have.

How much RAM does LocalAI need?

The manifest asks for 2 CPU cores, 4096 MB of RAM and 20 GB of disk. QA measured about 40 MiB idle and about 290 MiB after loading a small model, but real models need more, so this page sells the 16 GB tier, and disk grows with installed models.

Is LocalAI free and open source?

Yes. LocalAI is MIT licensed, per the LICENSE file at the v4.10.0 tag, so the software is free to run; xCloud bills only the dedicated Cloud VPS. The models you install carry their own licences, which you should read before using them.

Can you run LocalAI with Docker?

Yes, and this is LocalAI Docker hosting prepared for you: the template runs the official localai/localai v4.10.0 CPU image as one container, pinned by immutable digest, with four volumes and HTTPS on your domain, which makes it LocalAI cloud hosting on your own VPS.

What is the difference between LocalAI and Ollama?

Both self-host open models. LocalAI's README stresses one engine for LLMs, vision, voice, image and video, with OpenAI-compatible APIs and multi-user auth. Ollama has its own xCloud page, so compare them against the models and clients you use.

How do I sign in to LocalAI the first time?

Open the HTTPS URL and register; the first account becomes the administrator. Anyone who registers afterwards stays pending until you approve them, unless you switch the registration mode. Register straight away so nobody else takes the first account.

Do I need a GPU to run LocalAI?

No. The README says no GPU is required, and this template ships the CPU image; a chat completion from a small gallery model was served on CPU in verification. Larger models need more RAM and are slower on CPU, and GPU variants are out of scope here.

Is a model included with LocalAI?

No. Nothing is preloaded. Open Models, install one from the gallery, then chat in the UI or call the API. Inference backends such as llama.cpp are downloaded on demand into the backends volume, so the first install needs outbound internet access.

How do I call the LocalAI API?

Send requests such as /v1/chat/completions with the header Authorization: Bearer and your API key. Calls without a key or with a wrong key return 401. Rotate the key by changing LOCALAI_API_KEY and redeploying, then update every client that uses it.

Is there an upload size limit on LocalAI?

The template sets a 512 MB proxy body limit, but the verification run warned that uploads over roughly 100 MB may be rejected at the edge, for example behind a Cloudflare proxy. Test large uploads before relying on them.

What should I back up on a LocalAI server?

The four volumes together, localai_models, localai_backends, localai_configuration and localai_data, plus the API key and HMAC secret from the environment. The data volume holds the user database. Copy them off the server and test a restore.

How do I upgrade LocalAI?

Nothing upgrades it for you: the install stays on pinned release v4.10.0 until you adopt a newer template version. Back up the volumes, go through the upstream release notes, and then check sign-in and that an installed model still answers.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. There is no lock-in — cancel any time. Hosting is billed monthly and charged for what you actually use, so when you delete the server the unused balance is refunded to your account, less up to 10% in payment-processing fees.
