What is Odysseus?

Odysseus is a self-hosted AI workspace with chat, agents, document search and long-term memory, backed by a private Chroma vector store. This template deploys version 1.0.3.

Does it include a language model?

No. Connect Ollama, OpenAI or any OpenAI-compatible server under Settings — an Ollama server on the same host is reachable at http://host.docker.internal:11434/v1. Odysseus runs the workspace; the intelligence comes from the endpoint you choose.

What does it need to run?

The Odysseus app container and a private Chroma vector store for document search and memory, with no separate database to provision.

What does xCloud configure automatically?

The Odysseus URL, the app and Chroma containers, the admin account and password, the domain and the HTTPS route. The Chroma vector store has no public port.

How do I sign in?

Use the username admin and the password shown in the installation credentials. Self-registration is off, and the setup endpoint refuses a second admin account. Wait for the sign-in page to finish loading before submitting — submitting early can fall back to a GET that puts the password in the URL, which is upstream behaviour.

What should I back up?

All six named volumes — odysseus_data (accounts, database, uploads, embedding cache), odysseus_logs, odysseus_ssh (SSH identities for remote servers), odysseus_local (Cookbook packages), odysseus_hf_cache (downloaded models) and chromadb_data (vector indexes). Treat the backup as secret-bearing: stored API keys, mail accounts and remote server connections live in there too. Back it up with the stack stopped for a consistent copy.

Backups in xCloud

Does xCloud automatically back up or update Odysseus?

No. The template pins Odysseus 1.0.3 by immutable digest; a catalog re-sync affects new installations only. To upgrade, back up first, read the upstream release notes, then bump the readable tag and digest together.

Can I upload large files?

Gallery uploads near 100 MB worked in QA; the edge caps a single request at about 100 MB, and personal documents are capped at 25 MB inside the app.

Is the admin password sensitive?

Yes. It controls the whole workspace — stored API keys, mail accounts, remote server connections and agent tools that can run commands. Keep it private, and remember that provider keys entered in the Environment editor are visible to anyone who can edit it.

Does it need outbound internet access?

Yes, on first use — the embedding model downloads from Hugging Face the first time it's needed, so outbound internet access is required for that step.

What are the server requirements?

The template manifest asks for 1 CPU, 1536 MB of RAM and 10 GB of disk as a floor. This page sells the 6 GB tier, comfortable headroom above that floor across the app and its Chroma store.

What survives a restart?

Accounts, the database, uploads, vector indexes and the downloaded embedding model — all verified to survive an xCloud Restart in QA, since they live on the six named volumes.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. There is no lock-in — cancel any time. Hosting is billed monthly and charged for what you actually use, so when you delete the server the unused balance is refunded to your account, less up to 10% in payment-processing fees.
