What is Cypht?

Self-hosted Cypht is a webmail aggregator. Its README says it brings all your email, from all your accounts, into one place, supporting IMAP and SMTP plus JMAP and EWS, and that it does not replace your existing accounts but combines them into one. It is also a standard email client for browsing IMAP folders and sending with SMTP, built entirely of plugins it calls module sets. People run a unified inbox, self-hosted, instead of relying on a single provider's web client such as Gmail. It is LGPL-2.1 licensed.

On xCloud the template runs the cypht/cypht 2.12.2 image beside MariaDB 11, with the cypht_users, cypht_attachments, cypht_app_data, cypht_sqlite and cypht_db volumes. HTTPS is published on your domain, and xCloud generates the admin password for the admin user. It runs no mail server and creates no mailboxes: your messages stay with your mail providers, and Cypht caches message metadata on your server.

How much RAM does Cypht need?

The manifest asks for 1 CPU core, 1024 MB of RAM and 5 GB of disk as a floor for Cypht and MariaDB together. The 6 GB Cloud VPS sold here is well above that, which leaves room for cached mail and attachments to grow.

Is Cypht free and open source?

Yes. Cypht is licensed under the GNU Lesser General Public License version 2.1, per the LICENSE file at the v2.12.2 tag, so there is no licence fee. xCloud bills for the dedicated Cloud VPS only, and your accounts and settings stay on your own volumes.

Can you run Cypht with Docker?

Yes, and this is Cypht Docker hosting prepared for you: the template runs the cypht/cypht 2.12.2 image, pinned by immutable digest, beside MariaDB 11 with five named volumes and HTTPS on your domain, so you write no compose file and set no database credentials by hand.

Is Cypht a mail server?

No. Cypht connects to mailboxes you already have, over IMAP and SMTP, JMAP or EWS. It does not host mail, and xCloud does not provide mailboxes with it. Your messages stay with your mail provider; Cypht keeps a cached copy of message metadata on your server.

Can Cypht combine Gmail and Outlook in one inbox?

Yes. Its README says it combines all your accounts into one place, and the template notes that Gmail and Outlook or Office 365 accounts connect through their own OAuth login flows. You add each account under Settings, Accounts after signing in as admin.

What is the difference between Cypht and Roundcube?

Per its README, Cypht's driving force is combined views for multiple accounts, while also working as a standard email client for IMAP folders and SMTP sending. Roundcube Webmail has a separate xCloud template. Choose Cypht when you want several accounts merged into one view.

How do I sign in to Cypht for the first time?

Sign in as admin with the generated password from your installation credentials, then change that password in Settings straight away. Add your mail accounts under Settings, Accounts, configure each mail server and OAuth connection, and optionally turn on TOTP two-factor authentication.

Where does my Cypht data live?

On your own server, on the cypht_users, cypht_attachments, cypht_app_data, cypht_sqlite and cypht_db volumes: accounts, settings, attachments and cached mail. Your original mailboxes stay with your providers, so deleting this install does not delete your email.

How do I back up Cypht?

A backup is all five volumes together, including cypht_db for MariaDB, ideally with the app stopped so the database and files match. Copies hold stored account settings, so protect them, and test a restore. The original mail needs no backup here, since it lives with your providers.

How do I update Cypht?

Nothing updates it for you: the template pins 2.12.2 by immutable digest. Back up the volumes, read the upstream release notes, then adopt a newer template version when one is published, and check that your accounts still connect afterwards.

Is this Cypht cloud hosting?

It is your own Cypht on a dedicated Cloud VPS provisioned by xCloud, not a hosted webmail service. The container, the MariaDB database and the volumes belong to your install, and the webmail is served over HTTPS on your domain behind a login.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. There is no lock-in — cancel any time. Hosting is billed monthly and charged for what you actually use, so when you delete the server the unused balance is refunded to your account, less up to 10% in payment-processing fees.
