What is Apprise API?

Apprise API is a lightweight gateway that lets you take advantage of the Apprise notification library through your network with a user-friendly API. You post a message to one endpoint and Apprise relays it to the services you configured, either per request or from a stored configuration key, and a small web interface helps you test it. Run on your own server it is a self-hosted Apprise API and notification gateway, an alternative to a hosted push service such as Pushover, under the MIT licence.

Yes, and this template is Apprise API Docker hosting without the setup: caronc/apprise 1.5.3 pinned by digest, one container with embedded Nginx, three named volumes and an HTTPS route to port 8000. Upstream's README documents running the same image from Docker Hub.

How much RAM does Apprise API need?

The template baseline asks for 512 MB of RAM, 1 CPU core and 4 GB of disk. This page sells the 6 GB tier, which leaves room for large attachments and other apps on the same server.

How do I send a notification with Apprise API?

Authenticate with the Basic Auth credentials and post to the notify endpoint with a message, either listing destination URLs or naming a stored configuration key. The built-in Notification tab sends a test through the same API without a script.

Yes. Apprise API is released under the MIT licence, so the gateway is free software. Hosting it on a dedicated Cloud VPS is what costs money. The services it relays to, such as SMS or push providers, may charge you separately.

How do I back up Apprise API?

Back up apprise_config for stored configurations and internal state, apprise_attach for uploads and apprise_plugin for custom plugins, together. Restore all volumes with the same SECRET_KEY, then restart. No schedule exists for this, so run the copy yourself and practise a restore.

Nothing upgrades itself: 1.5.3 is pinned by digest, so an existing install stays on it until you move it. When a newer template version is published, back up all three volumes, read the upstream release notes, adopt that version and check authentication and a test send.

Is this an Apprise API cloud service?

It is Apprise API on a dedicated Cloud VPS under your xCloud login, an Apprise API cloud of your own at your domain. It relays messages through the providers you configure; it is not a delivery network of its own.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. There is no lock-in — cancel any time. Hosting is billed monthly and charged for what you actually use, so when you delete the server the unused balance is refunded to your account, less up to 10% in payment-processing fees.
