StencilBox hosting gives you a static site generator from YAML on your own domain, building fast static websites such as link homepages and status pages, with a password-protected admin. Deploy StencilBox 2.13.1 as one pinned container behind a Caddy gateway, with build configs and output on a persistent volume, over HTTPS in minutes. Built sites are public by design, so keep private data off them.
StencilBox builds data-driven, super-speedy, simple static sites, with sleek templates, from YAML build configs and data files. Upstream gives use cases for self-hosters who want a homepage of links updated from YAML, sysadmins who want users to create pages without Git, and developers who want YAML rendered as a web page. A self-hosted StencilBox is an alternative to a hosted page builder, licensed AGPL-3.0, and upstream says Markdown is not supported yet.
On xCloud it is StencilBox 2.13.1 from the upstream image behind a Caddy gateway, both pinned by digest, with everything in stencilbox_config. xCloud generates the admin password, protects the web UI and API with Basic Auth and serves over HTTPS. Built sites stay public, and the web UI is read-only.
A StencilBox install needs the generator, a gateway for the admin, a config volume, a domain and a certificate before the first build. This is the same result without assembling any of it.
Step 01
Create your xCloud account and pick StencilBox from the OneClick catalog. Choose your domain and target server; the install form has no fields.
Step 02
One click. We start ghcr.io/jamesread/stencilbox 2.13.1 and a Caddy gateway, both pinned by digest, mount stencilbox_config at /config, generate the admin password and publish it over HTTPS. It is ready in about 30 seconds.
Step 03
Open /webui/ and sign in with Basic Auth, then start a build of the installed homepage example, which is published at /homepage/. Edit the YAML data files on the server, for example with docker exec and vi.
StencilBox runs here as the generator and web UI, with configs and built sites on a volume you control.
Pages are generated once, so images and assets can be optimised and no scripts run in the browser, which makes pages load quickly.
Build several sites from one container, such as separate homepages for family, friends and you, each from its own build config.
Upstream can render any data you put in YAML files, so it also builds status pages, not only link grids.
The web UI lists build configs and starts builds. Configs and data files are YAML on the server, edited there, not in the browser.
You can clone your own git repository into /config/buildconfigs and let StencilBox pull updates from it.
A gateway guards /webui/ and /api/ with Basic Auth. Built sites such as /homepage/ stay public and need no password.
Managed hosting for StencilBox, so the parts that keep it online are not your problem.
Edit one data file and rebuild, then share a fast static page of your services.
Render service data from YAML into a static status page that loads quickly.
Create separate build configs for family, friends or teams without running more containers.
Render any YAML data you keep into a clean static page for readers.

xCloud works really well, I am surprised by its performance being this the release version, I have tried many paid platforms such as runcloud, cloudpages or serveravatar, as well as free platforms such as CyberPanel, CloudPanel or Hestia Control Panel and direct competitors such as SpinupWP and FlyWP. Of all those that I have tried, the platform that works best for WordPress is SpinupWP and I believe that xCloud can reach and surpass that development, its roadmap is promising. Congratulations to the xCloud team, I hope they become the leading platform in the segment, it has all the potential to achieve it!
Brian GeovannyI've been with runcloud for the last 3 years. However, after trying xcloud for the last month, I'm switching over. They are on a roll with their setup.
Kevin PinedaI'm moving my servers to xCloud, a cloud control panel by M Asif Rahman and the WPDeveloper team. Their roadmap looks interesting and no, there are no team mates nor API limits with xCloud! #xCloud #wordpress #hosting
Leo KooHow Cloud Nine Web Elevated Client Experience While Streamlining Hosting Operations using xCloud
Ed EllinghamxCloud is like having an expert server team on call — without the big agency costs. It's given me back my time and given my clients peace of mind. Highly recommended for freelancers and small teams who want reliable performance and security.
Dumitru ButucelxCloud isn't just a solution. It's like one of that friend who got your back when you screw things up pretty bad.
Waqar AhmedTrust me when I say, once people explore the potential of xCloud they gonna switch from other panels, just keep delivering the best tech, lots of love for the team 😍😍
Rahul SinghSo far my experience has been smooth like silk. I didn't imagine that configuring and managing a VPS would be so easy. As of today, I have deployed 8 sites. The support is good, and they treat users with respect, even if they ask stupid questions (myself included). For the future, I hope for greater flexibility in scheduled backups and more comprehensive and consistent documentation. I'm sure that within a few months, xCloud will become the leader in its segment. This community is amazing, and the Staff here is super helpful.
Massimo VillaCame from cloudways then to runcloud then to xcloud. Looks like I'm staying here.
Gerson ElI've recently taken all of my Vultr-hosted sites and gotten rid of cPanel for them to substitute it with xCloud. I have to say, I'm really impressed with xCloud so far! The interface is definitely the standout feature for me.
Tony LewisI came from Cloudways and won't go back. Highly impressed with xCloud. Glad I gave them a chance.
Jared McDowellI like xCloud better than RunCloud, but one thing I'll point out is that some years ago RunCloud was hungry for business, the support was outstanding, and the community was active and helped each other. Maybe it was sold, there was a change in management, or they stopped being hungry, but the quality of the RunCloud offering declined and it hasn't been moving forward quickly. My point is that currently the xCloud team has the edge and it is theirs to keep or lose
David McCanHow Kevin Heinrichs Cut Hosting Costs by 84% While Running WooCommerce & Node.js Sites Efficiently
Kevin HeinrichsI had 150 sites on cloudways and am in the process of moving them to xcloud. Much faster and better priced.
Dan SpinozaDear xCloud Team, I have been using xCloud for some time now and am genuinely impressed with its capabilities and the flexibility it offers by allowing users to bring their own VPS for management. It's a fantastic service, and my experience so far has been very positive. Successful migrated 5 sites on a single server. Xcloud migration tool worked great. There were few hiccups with security plugin like MalCare but disabling the plugin prior to migration worked just fine.
Rahil MaknojiaCame from runcloud. Tried xcloud and never came back.

Upstream says it is similar in concept, but pages are generated once as static output, one container can build multiple sites, and it can render any YAML data, not just links. Pages then load quickly with no scripts in the browser.
Upstream calls it similar to other static site generators, with a focus on YAML data files and a simple, repeatable workflow for several sites. It does not support Markdown yet, so it suits data-driven pages better than long articles.
No. The web UI is read-only: it shows build configs and starts builds. Build configs and data files are YAML files in the /config volume, edited on the server, for example with docker exec and vi, or pulled from a git repository.
Yes, by design. Built sites such as /homepage/ need no password, while the web UI and API at /webui/ and /api/ sit behind Basic Auth. Do not put private information on a built page, and note the root address shows a placeholder page.
Yes. Upstream publishes a container image, and this template is StencilBox Docker hosting without the setup: the 2.13.1 image and a Caddy gateway pinned by digest, a config volume and HTTPS on your own domain.
The manifest asks for 256 MB of RAM, 1 CPU core and 2 GB of disk. StencilBox builds static files, so the 6 GB plan leaves ample room for other apps beside it on the same server, and you can resize later.
StencilBox 2.13.1 has an auth option in config.yaml, but that version does not register a login provider, so enabling it locks everyone out. A Caddy gateway with Basic Auth protects the web UI and API instead, using the generated password.
Yes. StencilBox is licensed under AGPL-3.0, so the code carries no fee. Your only cost is the Cloud VPS, which makes this a StencilBox cloud of your own rather than a hosted page builder that you rent.
Back up the stencilbox_config volume. It holds config.yaml, build configs, data files, cloned repositories and the built sites in /config/output. Nothing backs it up automatically, so copy it off the server and test a restore.
The install stays on its pinned 2.13.1 image until you adopt a newer template version. Back up stencilbox_config and read the upstream release notes first. Nothing upgrades automatically, and rotating the password means changing ADMIN_PASSWORD and redeploying.
Yes. There is no lock-in — cancel any time. Hosting is billed monthly and charged for what you actually use, so when you delete the server the unused balance is refunded to your account, less up to 10% in payment-processing fees.
Connect your first server in minutes. No plan you have to grow into.
