Is Shoutrrr free?
Yes — it is free and open source under the Apache License 2.0. What you pay xCloud for is the dedicated server it runs on and the management around it, not the software itself.
Can I self-host Shoutrrr?
Yes — that is exactly what this template deploys. It brings up the official Shoutrrr image pinned by immutable digest, generates an application key, mounts two persistent volumes, and publishes it over HTTPS on your domain in minutes instead of assembled by hand.
Who becomes the administrator, and how do I sign in?
Nobody is generated for you — you open your HTTPS URL after install and register the first local account yourself. There is no separate admin credential in the Credentials panel because there is no pre-created account.
Does xCloud connect my social media accounts for me?
No. xCloud only deploys and hosts Shoutrrr itself. You connect supported channels — Bluesky, Discord, X, LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram and Threads — inside Shoutrrr, using your own provider credentials. Bluesky app passwords and Discord webhooks are lower-friction; X, LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram and Threads need a customer-owned provider application or approved credentials.
What does xCloud configure automatically?
The pinned Shoutrrr image, a generated application key, HTTPS-aware app URL and secure session cookies for the reverse proxy, both persistent volumes, the domain and the HTTPS route. Only the Shoutrrr web service is published — nothing else is exposed to the internet.
What should I back up?
shoutrrr_storage and shoutrrr_sqlite together, from the same point in time. shoutrrr_storage holds application storage, uploads and generated Passport keys; shoutrrr_sqlite holds the SQLite application database. Keep your generated application key with them — losing or rotating it can invalidate encrypted records and provider tokens.
Does xCloud automatically back up or update Shoutrrr?
No. The template pins Shoutrrr by immutable digest; a catalog re-sync affects new installations only. Before changing the pin, back up both volumes, review upstream migrations and release notes, then verify login, workspaces, drafts, uploads and provider connections before removing the rollback point.
What are the server requirements, and why does this page sell 6 GB?
The template manifest asks for 1 GB of RAM, one CPU core and 10 GB of disk as a floor for the single Shoutrrr service. This page sells the 6 GB tier — comfortable headroom above that floor for the queue worker, scheduler and a growing library of drafts and media.
What survives a restart?
Everything on shoutrrr_storage and shoutrrr_sqlite, because both are persistent named volumes. Restarting the container does not touch your accounts, workspaces, drafts, uploads or Passport keys.
Can I upload large media files?
Shoutrrr itself supports media uploads, but the effective limit also depends on xCloud's nginx policy and available server disk. For a large media library, connect customer-owned S3-compatible storage through Shoutrrr's Environment editor rather than relying on local disk alone.
Is xCloud officially partnered with Shoutrrr or coolLabs?
No. No official partnership or endorsement between xCloud and the Shoutrrr project or coolLabs has been verified. This is a deployment and server-management option for the open-source Shoutrrr project.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. There is no lock-in — cancel any time. Hosting is billed monthly and charged for what you actually use, so when you delete the server the unused balance is refunded to your account, less up to 10% in payment-processing fees.
