eddrit Hosting Live In 5 Minutes

Deploy eddrit hosting and run a self-hosted Reddit frontend on your own domain, so you can browse subreddits, posts and users without a Reddit account. xCloud runs the pinned eddrit 0.19.0 image with a private Valkey 9.1 cache that holds only the Reddit OAuth token, and publishes the site over HTTPS in minutes. There is no database and no volume, so there is nothing to configure or back up.

What is eddrit?

Self-hosted eddrit is a lightweight alternative frontend for Reddit. Its README lists a layout with no ads, a compact design inspired by old.reddit.com, a mobile-friendly view, basic RSS for subreddits and posts, and URLs that follow Reddit's own structure, so replacing reddit.com with your domain opens the same page. It needs no OAuth2 registration of your own, and it stands in for opening Reddit's own site, under the MIT licence.

Here the template runs the ghcr.io/corenting/eddrit 0.19.0 image beside a private Valkey 9.1 cache, both pinned by immutable digest, with no database and no volume. HTTPS is published on your domain. There is no sign-in, so anyone with the address can browse through your server, and requests to Reddit come from the server's IP address.

From Sign-Up to a Live Reddit Frontend In Just 3 Easy Steps

An eddrit install normally means an app container, a Valkey instance, a reverse proxy, a domain and a certificate. This is the same result without assembling any of it.

  1. Step 01

Create your xCloud account and pick eddrit from the OneClick catalog. Choose your domain and target server — there are no extra fields to fill in.

  2. Step 02

    We Deploy It For You

One click. We bring up the eddrit image and a Valkey 9.1 cache, both pinned by immutable digest, keep Valkey on the private network with no published port, and publish eddrit over HTTPS on your domain. There are no volumes and no credentials to save.

  3. Step 03

    Browse A Subreddit

Open your HTTPS eddrit URL — it is usually ready within about 30 seconds — then open a subreddit by the same /r/ path it has on Reddit. There is no account to create.

Everything eddrit Does, On Your Own Server

eddrit runs in full here: a lightweight Reddit frontend on your own domain, with nothing stored on the server.

  • Browse Without An Account

Open subreddits, posts and user pages without a Reddit account.

  • Same URLs As Reddit

URLs follow Reddit's structure, so you can replace reddit.com with your own domain to open any page in eddrit.

  • Lightweight, No Ads

A compact design inspired by old.reddit.com, with no ads and a mobile-friendly layout.

  • RSS For Subreddits And Posts

Basic RSS support fetches the original Reddit feed and rewrites its URLs to point to your eddrit instance.

  • Settings Stay In The Browser

Theme and default sort are stored in each visitor's own browser, not on the server.

  • Optional Proxy For Reddit

If Reddit blocks your server's IP address, set PROXY in the Environment editor to send requests through an HTTP proxy.

Everything You Need To Run Your Reddit Frontend 24/7

Managed hosting for eddrit, so the parts that keep it online are not your problem.

  • eddrit 0.19.0 deployed instantly
  • Images pinned by immutable digest
  • Valkey cache kept private
  • Kept behind xCloud nginx
  • Free SSL certificate
  • Server backups and snapshots
  • Server security updates included
  • 30+ server locations
  • Unused balance refunded

What You Can Do With eddrit

  • Read Reddit without an account

Open a subreddit, a post or a user page from your own domain without signing in to Reddit.

  • A lighter view on small screens

Use a compact, mobile-friendly layout with no ads when the full Reddit site is more than you need.

  • Follow subreddits over RSS

Point a feed reader at your instance and read subreddit and post feeds with the URLs rewritten to your own domain.

  • Browse through your own server

Reach Reddit from your server's address instead of each device, and set an HTTP proxy with PROXY if Reddit blocks that IP.

eddrit vs Alternatives

Reddit
Reddit's own site and apps. eddrit serves the same page paths, so you can browse without an account, with settings kept in the visitor's browser.
old.reddit.com
Reddit's older interface. eddrit's compact design is inspired by it, rather than by the redesign, and runs on a server you control.
Redlib
Redlib is another self-hosted Reddit frontend with its own xCloud template. eddrit credits it for the Android app spoofing code in its README.
Reddit's official Android app
By default eddrit mimics the official Android app, per its README, so you do not register your own OAuth2 application to self-host it.

Hear what people are saying about us

See why agencies, developers, startups, and growing businesses choose xCloud to power their projects.

xCloud works really well, I am surprised by its performance being this the release version, I have tried many paid platforms such as runcloud, cloudpages or serveravatar, as well as free platforms such as CyberPanel, CloudPanel or Hestia Control Panel and direct competitors such as SpinupWP and FlyWP. Of all those that I have tried, the platform that works best for WordPress is SpinupWP and I believe that xCloud can reach and surpass that development, its roadmap is promising. Congratulations to the xCloud team, I hope they become the leading platform in the segment, it has all the potential to achieve it!
Brian Geovanny
I've been with runcloud for the last 3 years. However, after trying xcloud for the last month, I'm switching over. They are on a roll with their setup.

I'm moving my servers to xCloud, a cloud control panel by M Asif Rahman and the WPDeveloper team. Their roadmap looks interesting and no, there are no team mates nor API limits with xCloud! #xCloud #wordpress #hosting

xCloud is like having an expert server team on call — without the big agency costs. It's given me back my time and given my clients peace of mind. Highly recommended for freelancers and small teams who want reliable performance and security.

xCloud isn't just a solution. It's like one of that friend who got your back when you screw things up pretty bad.

Trust me when I say, once people explore the potential of xCloud they gonna switch from other panels, just keep delivering the best tech, lots of love for the team 😍😍

So far my experience has been smooth like silk. I didn't imagine that configuring and managing a VPS would be so easy. As of today, I have deployed 8 sites. The support is good, and they treat users with respect, even if they ask stupid questions (myself included). For the future, I hope for greater flexibility in scheduled backups and more comprehensive and consistent documentation. I'm sure that within a few months, xCloud will become the leader in its segment. This community is amazing, and the Staff here is super helpful.

Came from cloudways then to runcloud then to xcloud. Looks like I'm staying here.
Gerson El
I've recently taken all of my Vultr-hosted sites and gotten rid of cPanel for them to substitute it with xCloud. I have to say, I'm really impressed with xCloud so far! The interface is definitely the standout feature for me.
Tony Lewis
I came from Cloudways and won't go back. Highly impressed with xCloud. Glad I gave them a chance.
Jared McDowell
I like xCloud better than RunCloud, but one thing I'll point out is that some years ago RunCloud was hungry for business, the support was outstanding, and the community was active and helped each other. Maybe it was sold, there was a change in management, or they stopped being hungry, but the quality of the RunCloud offering declined and it hasn't been moving forward quickly. My point is that currently the xCloud team has the edge and it is theirs to keep or lose

Dear xCloud Team, I have been using xCloud for some time now and am genuinely impressed with its capabilities and the flexibility it offers by allowing users to bring their own VPS for management. It's a fantastic service, and my experience so far has been very positive. Successful migrated 5 sites on a single server. Xcloud migration tool worked great. There were few hiccups with security plugin like MalCare but disabling the plugin prior to migration worked just fine.

Frequently Asked Questions

Feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns you may have.

How much RAM does eddrit need?

Per the manifest, eddrit needs at least 1 CPU core, 256 MB of RAM and 1 GB of disk, and QA measured about 138 MiB idle across eddrit and its Valkey cache. The 6 GB plan on this page covers that with plenty to spare for traffic.

Is eddrit free and open source?

Yes. eddrit is MIT licensed, per the LICENSE file at the v0.19.0 tag, so you pay nothing to license it, only for the VPS it runs on, and nothing about your browsing is stored on a database of ours.

Can you run eddrit with Docker?

Yes. eddrit Docker hosting is ready to deploy: the template runs the upstream ghcr.io/corenting/eddrit 0.19.0 image and Valkey 9.1, both pinned by immutable digest, and the site is served on your domain over HTTPS, which makes this eddrit cloud hosting on a VPS you own.

What is the difference between eddrit and Redlib?

Both are alternative Reddit frontends. eddrit's README stresses its old.reddit.com-inspired compact design and credits redlib for its Android app spoofing code. Redlib has its own xCloud page, so you can compare the two before choosing.

Do I need a Reddit account to use eddrit?

No. Visitors browse subreddits, posts and users without an account, and for self-hosting you do not register an OAuth2 application, because eddrit mimics the official Android app by default. Reddit may still rate-limit your server's IP address.

Is an eddrit instance public by default?

Yes. eddrit has no accounts or sign-in, so anyone who knows the address can browse Reddit through your server. Share it only with people you trust, or restrict access with xCloud Basic Authentication or IP management.

What if Reddit blocks my eddrit server?

Reddit may rate-limit or block datacenter IP addresses, which makes pages load empty or with errors. Add PROXY, for example an HTTP proxy such as Cloudflare WARP's proxy mode, in the Environment editor, then Save and Redeploy. Success is not guaranteed.

Can eddrit show Reddit through RSS?

Basic RSS support is listed in the README: eddrit fetches the original feed for a subreddit or post from Reddit and rewrites the URLs to point at your instance, so a feed reader can follow your own domain.

What should I back up on an eddrit server?

Nothing on the server. The template has no database and no persistent volume, the Valkey cache holds only the Reddit OAuth token, and visitor settings such as theme and default sort live in each visitor's own browser. Keep a note of any PROXY value you set.

How do I upgrade eddrit?

Nothing upgrades it for you: the install stays on pinned releases eddrit 0.19.0 and Valkey 9.1 until you adopt a newer template version. Read the upstream release notes first, then open a subreddit afterwards to check pages load.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. There is no lock-in — cancel any time. Hosting is billed monthly and charged for what you actually use, so when you delete the server the unused balance is refunded to your account, less up to 10% in payment-processing fees.
