DocuSeal Hosting Live In 5 Minutes
DocuSeal hosting on xCloud lets you deploy DocuSeal, a self-hosted document signing server, on your own domain. We run the pinned 3.1.6 Community Edition image with its embedded SQLite database on one persistent volume, generate the secret key, and publish it over HTTPS. You create the first administrator account yourself on first visit, so we never see that password, and your signed documents stay on a server you rent.
- No terminal
- No technical skills needed
- No lock-in, cancel anytime
What is DocuSeal?
DocuSeal is an open-source document filling and signing platform, and self-hosted DocuSeal is a document signing server you run yourself in place of hosted services such as DocuSign or PandaDoc. You build a PDF form in a visual editor with 12 field types, send it to one or more submitters, and they complete and sign it on any device. Upstream lists signature verification, user management and an API with webhooks.
On xCloud the template deploys the official DocuSeal 3.1.6 Community Edition image as a single container. It uses DocuSeal's embedded SQLite database, so the database, attachments, generated certificates and local configuration all live on the docuseal_data volume. The secret key is generated once and must stay unchanged. SMTP and file storage are not configured by the template.
From Sign-Up to a Live DocuSeal In Just 3 Easy Steps
A DocuSeal server normally means a container, a data volume, a secret key, a domain and a certificate before the first document is sent. This is the same result without assembling any of it.
Step 01
Sign Up
Create your xCloud account and pick DocuSeal from the OneClick catalog. Choose your domain and server — the install asks for nothing DocuSeal-specific.
Step 02
We Deploy It For You
One click. We start docuseal/docuseal 3.1.6, pinned by digest, mount the docuseal_data volume at /data/docuseal, generate SECRET_KEY_BASE and publish the app over HTTPS on your domain.
Step 03
Create The First Account
Open your URL straight away and enter the organization name, administrator name, email and password. That setup route closes once the first user exists. Then upload a test PDF and add fields.
Everything DocuSeal Does, On Your Own Server
The Community Edition features upstream documents run here, with documents and signatures stored on a server you control.
Visual PDF Form Builder
Upload a PDF and place fields on it in a WYSIWYG editor, choosing from 12 field types including signature, date, file and checkbox.
Multiple Submitters Per Document
A single document can go to more than one person, each completing their own fields, which suits contracts that several parties have to sign.
Mobile-Optimized Signing
Signers fill and sign in the browser on a phone or desktop, with a signing form available in 14 languages and an interface in 7.
Signature Verification
DocuSeal applies an automatic PDF eSignature to completed documents and can verify the signature on a signed PDF afterwards.
API And Webhooks
Connect DocuSeal to your own systems through its API, and use webhooks to have DocuSeal notify those systems about activity.
User Management
Add team members to your organization from the admin area. Roles, SSO and white-label are Pro features and are not part of this Community Edition template.

What You Can Do With DocuSeal
Collect signed client agreements
A freelancer or small agency turns a standard contract into a reusable template, sends it to each new client, and keeps every completed PDF on their own server.
Replace paper onboarding forms
An HR or clinic administrator builds a fillable PDF once, so new staff or patients complete and sign it on their phone before the first appointment.
Get multi-party documents signed
A property manager sends one lease to several submitters, each with their own fields, and keeps the completed document on their own server once everyone is done.
Wire signing into your own app
A developer creates documents and listens for completion events through the API and webhooks, so signing becomes a step inside their own product.
DocuSeal vs Alternatives
- DocuSign
- A hosted signing service. DocuSeal on xCloud stores documents, attachments and the signing certificates on your own docuseal_data volume.
- PandaDoc
- A hosted alternative. DocuSeal covers PDF form building, filling and signing on your own server, with an API and webhooks for wiring it into other systems.
- Documenso
- Another open-source signing platform, available as its own OneClick app. Compare its workflow and licence with DocuSeal's form builder before choosing.
- OpenSign
- A further self-hostable signing tool you can deploy on xCloud. Pick DocuSeal when a PDF form builder with field types and webhooks is what you need.

xCloud works really well, I am surprised by its performance being this the release version, I have tried many paid platforms such as runcloud, cloudpages or serveravatar, as well as free platforms such as CyberPanel, CloudPanel or Hestia Control Panel and direct competitors such as SpinupWP and FlyWP. Of all those that I have tried, the platform that works best for WordPress is SpinupWP and I believe that xCloud can reach and surpass that development, its roadmap is promising. Congratulations to the xCloud team, I hope they become the leading platform in the segment, it has all the potential to achieve it!
Brian GeovannyI've been with runcloud for the last 3 years. However, after trying xcloud for the last month, I'm switching over. They are on a roll with their setup.
Kevin PinedaI'm moving my servers to xCloud, a cloud control panel by M Asif Rahman and the WPDeveloper team. Their roadmap looks interesting and no, there are no team mates nor API limits with xCloud! #xCloud #wordpress #hosting
Leo KooHow Cloud Nine Web Elevated Client Experience While Streamlining Hosting Operations using xCloud
Ed EllinghamxCloud is like having an expert server team on call — without the big agency costs. It's given me back my time and given my clients peace of mind. Highly recommended for freelancers and small teams who want reliable performance and security.
Dumitru ButucelxCloud isn't just a solution. It's like one of that friend who got your back when you screw things up pretty bad.
Waqar AhmedTrust me when I say, once people explore the potential of xCloud they gonna switch from other panels, just keep delivering the best tech, lots of love for the team 😍😍
Rahul SinghSo far my experience has been smooth like silk. I didn't imagine that configuring and managing a VPS would be so easy. As of today, I have deployed 8 sites. The support is good, and they treat users with respect, even if they ask stupid questions (myself included). For the future, I hope for greater flexibility in scheduled backups and more comprehensive and consistent documentation. I'm sure that within a few months, xCloud will become the leader in its segment. This community is amazing, and the Staff here is super helpful.
Massimo VillaCame from cloudways then to runcloud then to xcloud. Looks like I'm staying here.
Gerson ElI've recently taken all of my Vultr-hosted sites and gotten rid of cPanel for them to substitute it with xCloud. I have to say, I'm really impressed with xCloud so far! The interface is definitely the standout feature for me.
Tony LewisI came from Cloudways and won't go back. Highly impressed with xCloud. Glad I gave them a chance.
Jared McDowellI like xCloud better than RunCloud, but one thing I'll point out is that some years ago RunCloud was hungry for business, the support was outstanding, and the community was active and helped each other. Maybe it was sold, there was a change in management, or they stopped being hungry, but the quality of the RunCloud offering declined and it hasn't been moving forward quickly. My point is that currently the xCloud team has the edge and it is theirs to keep or lose
David McCanHow Kevin Heinrichs Cut Hosting Costs by 84% While Running WooCommerce & Node.js Sites Efficiently
Kevin HeinrichsI had 150 sites on cloudways and am in the process of moving them to xcloud. Much faster and better priced.
Dan SpinozaDear xCloud Team, I have been using xCloud for some time now and am genuinely impressed with its capabilities and the flexibility it offers by allowing users to bring their own VPS for management. It's a fantastic service, and my experience so far has been very positive. Successful migrated 5 sites on a single server. Xcloud migration tool worked great. There were few hiccups with security plugin like MalCare but disabling the plugin prior to migration worked just fine.
Rahil MaknojiaCame from runcloud. Tried xcloud and never came back.

Gary MoodyxCloud gave me what no other hosting platform could: the flexibility of a VPS with the convenience of managed WordPress. As a solo founder running an entire business on one server, that combination is an important unfair advantage.
Jorge de los Reyes MartínezI use Server Avatar and xCloud and I'll sooner use xCloud than Server Avatar personally.

Blaine MooreFrequently Asked Questions
Feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns you may have.
Is DocuSeal free?
The Community Edition is open source under AGPL-3.0, with additional attribution terms that keep DocuSeal's name visible in the interface. There is no licence fee here; you pay for the Cloud VPS. Upstream also sells Pro features such as white-label and SSO, which this template does not include.
How do I self-host DocuSeal with Docker?
The template does it for you. It runs the official docuseal/docuseal 3.1.6 image with embedded SQLite, mounts the docuseal_data volume, generates the secret key, and adds your domain and HTTPS. DocuSeal Docker hosting here means no docker run command and no reverse proxy to configure.
Are DocuSeal signatures legally binding?
That depends on your jurisdiction, the document type and how you collect consent, so this page makes no legal promise. Upstream describes secure digital signing, an automatic PDF eSignature and signature verification. You remain responsible for legal suitability; ask a lawyer before relying on it for regulated contracts.
Does DocuSeal have an API and webhooks?
Yes. Upstream lists an API and webhooks among the Community Edition features, so you can create documents from your own application and react when a submission is completed. The template exposes them on your HTTPS domain. Embedded signing components and the HTML-template API are Pro features, not included here.
Does DocuSeal need SMTP for emails?
Sending invitations by email needs SMTP, and upstream supports it, but this template does not configure any mail server. Set up a trusted SMTP account in DocuSeal's settings before you rely on email delivery. The SMTP details are yours to supply.
How do I back up DocuSeal?
Back up the whole docuseal_data volume together with the generated SECRET_KEY_BASE. The volume holds the SQLite database, attachments, generated certificates and local configuration. Keep an encrypted off-server backup copy and test a restore, because signed documents are sensitive.
How do I update DocuSeal?
There is no automatic update. The template pins DocuSeal 3.1.6 by tag and digest, and an existing site stays on that snapshot. Back up docuseal_data and the secret key, read the upstream release notes for migrations, change tag and digest together, then recreate the container with the same volume.
What is the difference between DocuSeal and DocuSign?
DocuSign is a hosted service, while DocuSeal is open-source software you run on your own server. With this template your documents, SQLite database and signing certificates sit on your docuseal_data volume. You manage the app settings and compliance yourself rather than relying on a vendor.
What is the difference between DocuSeal and Documenso?
Both are open-source signing platforms you can host, and xCloud has a OneClick page for each. DocuSeal's strengths from its own README are the WYSIWYG PDF field builder with 12 field types and the API with webhooks. Read Documenso's documentation to compare the rest.
Is this the same as DocuSeal cloud?
No. Upstream's README points to its own hosted service for people who want to try it in the cloud. This template runs the open-source Community Edition on a Cloud VPS you rent from xCloud, with data on your docuseal_data volume. xCloud has no partnership with the DocuSeal project.
What are the server requirements?
The manifest requires 1024 MB RAM, 1 CPU core and 5 GB of disk for DocuSeal. Large PDFs, concurrent signing and retained attachments can push past that, so the 6 GB tier sold here gives a small team on embedded SQLite plenty of room.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. There is no lock-in — cancel any time. Hosting is billed monthly and charged for what you actually use, so when you delete the server the unused balance is refunded to your account, less up to 10% in payment-processing fees.
