Save the master key shown in the protected installation credentials, allow two to five minutes for first boot, open the HTTPS OpenSign URL to become the administrator, then configure SMTP or Mailgun to send documents for signature.

What is OpenSign?

OpenSign is an open-source document e-signature platform for sending PDFs and DOCX files for signature, with multiple signers, sequential signing and reusable templates. This template deploys OpenSign's main branch, pinned by image digest since upstream publishes no version tags.

What license is OpenSign under?

OpenSign is licensed under AGPL-3.0.

What runs alongside OpenSign?

A web app, the API server, MongoDB and a small nginx gateway. Only the gateway is reachable, through xCloud-managed HTTPS.

How do I sign in for the first time?

Open the site right after install — the first visitor becomes the administrator and creates the organization. xCloud generates a master key, shown in the protected installation credentials.

Can I send documents for signature immediately?

Not until outgoing mail is set up. Add SMTP or Mailgun settings in the Environment editor and redeploy — without it, OpenSign runs but sends no signing requests or completed-document emails.

Can anyone create an account on my install?

Registration stays open through the API even after the administrator exists. The UI hides the sign-up form and self-registered users cannot see the administrator's documents, but OpenSign has no setting to close registration entirely. A Basic Auth gate in front of the site limits it, but would also block outside signers.

Will signatures show as trusted in PDF readers?

Not with the default self-signed certificate created on first boot — PDF readers will show the signature as not trusted. Upload your own certificate in OpenSign's settings, or set PFX_BASE64 and PASS_PHRASE, for a trusted signature.

What should I back up?

The opensign_mongo volume (database), opensign_files volume (uploaded and signed documents) and opensign_signing volume (the generated signing certificate and its passphrase), together with the master key.

Backups in xCloud

Does xCloud automatically back up or update OpenSign?

No. The template pins both OpenSign image digests; a catalog re-sync affects new installations only. To update, re-pin both digests together after reading the upstream release notes.

What are the server requirements?

The template manifest asks for 1 CPU, 1024 MB of RAM and 10 GB of disk as a floor. This page sells the 6 GB tier, comfortable headroom above that floor.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. There is no lock-in — cancel any time. Hosting is billed monthly and charged for what you actually use, so when you delete the server the unused balance is refunded to your account, less up to 10% in payment-processing fees.
