CryptPad hosting on xCloud puts a self-hosted collaboration suite on a server you control, with content encrypted in the browser. Deploy CryptPad in one click: xCloud runs the pinned image as one container with five persistent volumes and publishes your main and sandbox domains over HTTPS, so your team can edit together in real time while the server stores pads it cannot read.
CryptPad is an open-source collaboration suite, licensed under AGPL-3.0-or-later, that is end-to-end encrypted. Self-hosted CryptPad synchronises changes to documents in real time and encrypts data in the browser before it reaches the server, which makes it an end-to-end encrypted alternative to Google Docs or Microsoft 365. Upstream's suite includes rich text, code, kanban, forms, whiteboard and a drive for files.
This template runs CryptPad 2026.5.1 as a single container with no database or cache, behind xCloud's nginx. Pads, uploaded files and account blocks sit in five named volumes. The editors load from a second, different hostname, the sandbox. OnlyOffice is off, so there are no Sheet or Presentation apps here. The first admin account is created from a one-time setup link that CryptPad prints in its container log.
A CryptPad install normally means a second sandbox hostname, two certificates, five data directories and a careful first-login step before a single pad exists. This is the same result without assembling any of it.
Step 01
Create your xCloud account, pick CryptPad from the OneClick catalog, and map a domain for the app plus a second, different hostname for the sandbox. The install form has no other fields.
Step 02
One click. We start the pinned CryptPad 2026.5.1 image as one container with no database, mount the cryptpad_data, datastore, blob, block and customize volumes, and publish both domains over HTTPS.
Step 03
Run the admin setup command from the credentials panel on the server, open the one-time link it prints and register. That account becomes the admin; then turn on Close registration if the instance is private.
CryptPad runs here as an encrypted workspace for pads and files, with the stored content on volumes you control. OnlyOffice stays off in this template.
Content is encrypted in the browser before it is sent to the server, so a database breach exposes encrypted data rather than readable pads.
Changes to a document synchronise between collaborators in real time over a websocket on the main domain.
Rich text, code, kanban boards, polls, whiteboards and forms are available as pad types, each opened from the same drive.
Uploaded files are stored in the cryptpad_blob volume, with a 20 MB per-file default limit you can raise from the admin panel.
Registration is open by default; the admin can turn on Close registration under User directory and still create invitation links.
The editors run in an isolated frame on a separate sandbox hostname, which is why this template maps two domains.
Managed hosting for CryptPad, so the parts that keep it online are not your problem.
A small team drafts documents, code snippets and kanban boards in pads that are encrypted in the browser. This template leaves OnlyOffice off, so there are no Sheet or Presentation editors.
A legal or health team stores working notes and files on a Cloud VPS they control, where the server holds only encrypted pads and the team decides who gets an account.
An organiser collects votes or form answers in a CryptPad poll or form, then shares a pad link with exactly the people who should see the results.
A group that used Google Docs for shared notes moves to its own CryptPad on a domain it controls, with registration closed so only invited people sign up.

xCloud works really well, I am surprised by its performance being this the release version, I have tried many paid platforms such as runcloud, cloudpages or serveravatar, as well as free platforms such as CyberPanel, CloudPanel or Hestia Control Panel and direct competitors such as SpinupWP and FlyWP. Of all those that I have tried, the platform that works best for WordPress is SpinupWP and I believe that xCloud can reach and surpass that development, its roadmap is promising. Congratulations to the xCloud team, I hope they become the leading platform in the segment, it has all the potential to achieve it!
Brian GeovannyI've been with runcloud for the last 3 years. However, after trying xcloud for the last month, I'm switching over. They are on a roll with their setup.
Kevin PinedaI'm moving my servers to xCloud, a cloud control panel by M Asif Rahman and the WPDeveloper team. Their roadmap looks interesting and no, there are no team mates nor API limits with xCloud! #xCloud #wordpress #hosting
Leo KooHow Cloud Nine Web Elevated Client Experience While Streamlining Hosting Operations using xCloud
Ed EllinghamxCloud is like having an expert server team on call — without the big agency costs. It's given me back my time and given my clients peace of mind. Highly recommended for freelancers and small teams who want reliable performance and security.
Dumitru ButucelxCloud isn't just a solution. It's like one of that friend who got your back when you screw things up pretty bad.
Waqar AhmedTrust me when I say, once people explore the potential of xCloud they gonna switch from other panels, just keep delivering the best tech, lots of love for the team 😍😍
Rahul SinghSo far my experience has been smooth like silk. I didn't imagine that configuring and managing a VPS would be so easy. As of today, I have deployed 8 sites. The support is good, and they treat users with respect, even if they ask stupid questions (myself included). For the future, I hope for greater flexibility in scheduled backups and more comprehensive and consistent documentation. I'm sure that within a few months, xCloud will become the leader in its segment. This community is amazing, and the Staff here is super helpful.
Massimo VillaCame from cloudways then to runcloud then to xcloud. Looks like I'm staying here.
Gerson ElI've recently taken all of my Vultr-hosted sites and gotten rid of cPanel for them to substitute it with xCloud. I have to say, I'm really impressed with xCloud so far! The interface is definitely the standout feature for me.
Tony LewisI came from Cloudways and won't go back. Highly impressed with xCloud. Glad I gave them a chance.
Jared McDowellI like xCloud better than RunCloud, but one thing I'll point out is that some years ago RunCloud was hungry for business, the support was outstanding, and the community was active and helped each other. Maybe it was sold, there was a change in management, or they stopped being hungry, but the quality of the RunCloud offering declined and it hasn't been moving forward quickly. My point is that currently the xCloud team has the edge and it is theirs to keep or lose
David McCanHow Kevin Heinrichs Cut Hosting Costs by 84% While Running WooCommerce & Node.js Sites Efficiently
Kevin HeinrichsI had 150 sites on cloudways and am in the process of moving them to xcloud. Much faster and better priced.
Dan SpinozaDear xCloud Team, I have been using xCloud for some time now and am genuinely impressed with its capabilities and the flexibility it offers by allowing users to bring their own VPS for management. It's a fantastic service, and my experience so far has been very positive. Successful migrated 5 sites on a single server. Xcloud migration tool worked great. There were few hiccups with security plugin like MalCare but disabling the plugin prior to migration worked just fine.

Yes, and CryptPad Docker hosting is what this template does. Upstream publishes an official CryptPad image; xCloud runs 2026.5.1 pinned by digest as one container with five named volumes and HTTPS on two hostnames, instead of a Compose file and proxy you maintain yourself.
The template manifest asks for 512 MB of RAM, 1 CPU core and 5 GB of disk as a floor; the 6 GB plan sold here covers it, since CryptPad is one container with no database. Disk use grows with the number of pads and uploaded files.
CryptPad does not update itself here: 2026.5.1 is pinned by tag and digest, and a catalogue re-sync affects new installations only. Back up all five volumes, read the upstream release notes, then bump the readable tag and digest together and check a pad still opens afterwards.
Take one backup of all five volumes together: cryptpad_data for admin decrees and pins, cryptpad_datastore for pad contents, cryptpad_blob for uploaded files, cryptpad_block for account login blocks and cryptpad_customize for built static files. Restore them as a set and test the restore.
Upstream says content is encrypted in the browser before it is sent to the server and collaborators. The code that does it still loads from your server, so you trust its administrator, and a pad link carries the decryption key: anyone holding the link can read that pad.
Do not expect a recovery. Upstream derives account access from cryptographic keys built from your username and password, which the server never needs to see, and this template sends no email. Keep your credentials safe, and treat a lost password as a lost account.
For shared pads, yes: CryptPad edits rich text, code, kanban boards, polls, whiteboards and forms together in real time, encrypted in the browser. It is not a drop-in clone, and OnlyOffice, which adds spreadsheet and slide editors, is switched off in this template.
Yes. CryptPad is open source under the AGPL-3.0-or-later licence, and the LICENSE file at the 2026.5.1 tag is the AGPL text. The charge is for the dedicated server and its deployment, and each extra account costs nothing in licences.
You do. This is CryptPad cloud hosting on a dedicated Cloud VPS only you use, so pads and files sit in your five volumes. The server cannot read pad contents but does see account and usage metadata. xCloud runs the server and deployment, not the content.
The editors run in an isolated frame on a second hostname, the sandbox, which must differ from the main domain or editors show a blank page. Registration is open by default, so close it under User directory for a private team. The platform does not send HSTS for this template.
Yes. There is no lock-in — cancel any time. Hosting is billed monthly and charged for what you actually use, so when you delete the server the unused balance is refunded to your account, less up to 10% in payment-processing fees.
Connect your first server in minutes. No plan you have to grow into.
