What is Imagor?

Imagor is an open-source image-processing server built on libvips. You request an image through a URL that describes the operations — resize, crop, filters, format — and Imagor fetches the source image, transforms it in memory and returns the result.

This template runs it as a single container. Every request carries a signature computed from your secret, so only your own backend can mint working URLs, and nothing is stored on the server.

Built on libvips, Imagor resizes, crops, filters and converts images on the fly from the request URL.

How do I sign a URL?

Compute the URL-safe base64 of the HMAC-SHA1 of the path after the signature, keyed with the secret from your installation credentials. Do this on your backend and never ship the secret to browsers.

Is there an admin interface?

No. Imagor has no admin UI or user accounts. The site root only shows a small landing page and /healthcheck reports health.

Can anyone use my server to fetch images?

Only holders of the secret can create working URLs, and unsigned requests are rejected. A signed URL works for whoever receives it, so sign only URLs you intend to serve. Loopback, private and link-local addresses are blocked as image sources.

How do I limit which hosts Imagor fetches from?

Set HTTP_LOADER_ALLOWED_SOURCES in the Environment editor, then Save & Redeploy.

Can I get WebP output?

Yes, add the filters:format(webp) filter to the URL. Automatic WebP (IMAGOR_AUTO_WEBP) is off by default because CDNs such as Cloudflare ignore Vary: Accept and could serve WebP to browsers that do not accept it.

What happens if I change the signing secret?

Every previously signed URL stops working. Update your signing clients at the same time, then Save & Redeploy. Never set IMAGOR_UNSAFE, which disables signature checking.

What runs alongside Imagor?

Nothing. It is a single container with no volumes and no database.

What should I back up?

Nothing is stored on the server; keep the environment values, in particular the signing secret, safe.

Backups in xCloud

Does xCloud automatically update Imagor?

No. The template pins Imagor 1.9.9 by immutable digest; existing sites are not automatically upgraded. Read the upstream release notes, then bump the readable tag and digest together on your own schedule. Server-level backups and snapshots are available on every Cloud VPS.

What are the server requirements, and why does this page sell 6 GB?

The template's baseline asks for 1 CPU core, 512 MB of RAM and 2 GB of disk; measured idle use in QA was about 14 MiB. This page sells the 6 GB tier as the entry rung, with real headroom above that baseline.

Is xCloud officially partnered with Imagor?

No. No official partnership or endorsement between xCloud and the Imagor project has been verified. This is a deployment and server-management option for the open-source Imagor project.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. There is no lock-in — cancel any time. Hosting is billed monthly and charged for what you actually use, so when you delete the server the unused balance is refunded to your account, less up to 10% in payment-processing fees.
