What is AriaNg?

AriaNg is a modern web frontend that makes the aria2 download utility easier to use. It is written in pure HTML and JavaScript, needs no runtime of its own, and lets you sort, search, retry and monitor tasks, with speed charts, a dark theme and full support for aria2's settings. Run on your own server it is a self-hosted AriaNg and download manager, an alternative to renting a seedbox service, with AriaNg under the MIT licence and aria2 under the GPL.

Can I run AriaNg in Docker?

Yes, and this template is AriaNg Docker hosting without the setup: the community hurlenko/aria2-ariang 1.3.15 image pinned by digest, one container serving AriaNg and aria2, two named volumes and an HTTPS route to port 8080. The image is not an upstream-official one.

What is the difference between AriaNg and aria2?

aria2 is the command-line download utility that does the work; AriaNg is a web frontend that makes it easier to use. Upstream AriaNg is pure HTML and JavaScript, and this image bundles both so the page opens already connected.

How much RAM does AriaNg need?

The template minimum is 64 MB of RAM, 1 CPU core and 20 GB of disk plus space for your downloads. Disk is the real limit, not memory. This page sells the 6 GB tier as the entry rung, leaving ample room for other apps.

Does AriaNg have a login?

Not by itself, which is why a Basic Auth prompt protects every path here, using the username you chose and a generated password. The RPC secret is embedded in the interface, so anyone who signs in has full control of aria2 and the downloaded files.

What is the aria2 RPC secret?

A generated secret that authorises JSON-RPC calls to aria2. It is written into aria2's configuration and the AriaNg scripts on every start, so changing RPC_SECRET and restarting rotates it. Do not change ARIA2RPCPORT, the HTTPS port the browser uses.

Can aria2 download torrents here?

Yes, but outbound only. The BitTorrent listen and DHT ports are not published, so downloads work while swarms with few reachable peers can be slow. Only download and share content you have the right to.

Where does AriaNg save downloads?

To the ariang_downloads volume, mounted at /aria2/data, which grows with every file. ariang_config holds aria2's configuration and session file. Size the server for your downloads, since the 20 GB minimum covers only the system and not the files you queue.

Is AriaNg free?

Yes. AriaNg is released under the MIT licence and aria2 under the GPL-2.0-or-later, so neither carries a software fee. The only cost is the dedicated Cloud VPS, whose bandwidth and disk your downloads consume, so size it for the files you queue.

How do I back up AriaNg?

Back up ariang_config and ariang_downloads together while the site is stopped, so the session file and any partially downloaded files stay consistent with each other. Nothing takes this copy automatically, so run it yourself and verify a restore.

How do I upgrade AriaNg?

Nothing upgrades itself: the image is pinned by tag and digest, so installs never change underneath you and a new template version is needed to move. Read the upstream notes and back up both volumes before upgrading.

Is this an AriaNg cloud service?

It is AriaNg and aria2 on a dedicated Cloud VPS under your xCloud login, an AriaNg cloud of your own at your domain. External RPC clients can use the jsonrpc path on your domain with the RPC secret.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. There is no lock-in — cancel any time. Hosting is billed monthly and charged for what you actually use, so when you delete the server the unused balance is refunded to your account, less up to 10% in payment-processing fees.
