I like xCloud better than RunCloud, but one thing I'll point out is that some years ago RunCloud was hungry for business, the support was outstanding, and the community was active and helped each other. Maybe it was sold, there was a change in management, or they stopped being hungry, but the quality of the RunCloud offering declined and it hasn't been moving forward quickly. What is Linkding?

Linkding is a lightweight, open-source bookmark manager for saving, tagging, searching and importing links, through a web UI, browser extensions or a REST API. It is MIT-licensed, and this template deploys version 1.45.0.

Can I self-host Linkding?

Yes — that is what this is. Linkding publishes an official Docker image, and this xCloud template deploys that exact pinned image on your own VPS, with the domain, HTTPS and admin credentials provisioned for you.

Do I need technical skills?

No. There is no terminal, no config file and no setup script. You pick a plan, we deploy, and you sign in with the credentials in your xCloud panel.

Does Linkding need PostgreSQL?

Not for this template. It deliberately uses Linkding's default SQLite deployment, so there is no separate database service to run or keep in sync.

What are the server requirements?

The template manifest asks for 512 MB of RAM, 1 CPU core and 2 GB of disk as a floor — enough for a small personal library. This page sells the 6 GB tier, comfortably above that; larger teams, frequent imports or snapshot-heavy use should size up.

Where is my data stored?

In the persistent linkding_data volume, mounted at /etc/linkding/data on your own server. It holds the SQLite database and Linkding-managed files, and survives a restart.

Is it exposed to the internet?

The container's own port stays bound to localhost — xCloud's nginx is what publishes it over HTTPS. The dashboard sits behind the generated administrator login.

How do I set the initial administrator account?

You choose the administrator username during setup; xCloud generates a 24-character password and shows it, masked, in your credentials panel.

Does Linkding support browser extensions and an API?

Yes. The official browser extension saves pages straight to your server, and an authenticated REST API is available for scripts and integrations.

What should I back up?

The complete linkding_data volume. Take a consistent snapshot or pause writes before copying it, keep encrypted off-server copies, and test a restore — a server snapshot alone isn't a substitute for a verified backup.

Does xCloud manage my bookmarks or Linkding account?

No. xCloud automates deployment and server-side lifecycle operations. You administer users, bookmarks, integrations, backup policy and application upgrades.

Is xCloud an official Linkding partner?

No. No official partnership or endorsement between xCloud and Linkding is claimed. This is a deployment and server-management option for the open-source Linkding app.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. There is no lock-in — cancel any time. Hosting is billed monthly and charged for what you actually use, so when you delete the server the unused balance is refunded to your account, less up to 10% in payment-processing fees.
