Anchor hosting on xCloud gives you a self-hosted note-taking app that works offline and syncs when you reconnect. Deploy Anchor notes from the OneClick catalog and xCloud starts the pinned single container with its embedded PostgreSQL database, generates the secrets, mounts the anchor_data volume and serves the app over HTTPS on your domain. You register the first account yourself, and it becomes the administrator.
Anchor is an offline first, self hostable note taking application, so self-hosted Anchor notes live on a server you control. It focuses on speed, privacy and simplicity: notes are stored locally, editable offline and synced across devices when online. Its README lists a rich text editor, tags, image and audio attachments, note sharing, version history, reminders, Markdown import and export, an admin panel and OIDC sign-in. It is licensed under AGPL-3.0.
On xCloud this template deploys Anchor 0.17.2 as one container, pinned by digest, that runs the web interface, the API and an embedded PostgreSQL database; there is no separate database service. The anchor_data volume holds the database files, attachments and profile pictures, HTTPS is provided on your domain, and xCloud generates the JWT secret and database password. Sign-up is open until you change Registration Mode.
Self-hosting a notes app normally means a database, a domain and a certificate before a single note can be saved. This is the same result without assembling any of it.
Step 01
Choose Anchor from the xCloud OneClick catalog and select a domain. There are no extra fields — xCloud generates the secrets.
Step 02
One click. We bring up the pinned Anchor 0.17.2 image — web interface, API and embedded PostgreSQL in one container — run first-start migrations, and publish the app over HTTPS on your domain.
Step 03
Open the HTTPS Anchor URL and register immediately — the first account becomes the administrator. In Admin Settings, set Registration Mode to Require Review or Disabled if the instance is only for you or your team.
Anchor runs in full here — the same offline-first note-taking tooling as any hosted knowledge base, on infrastructure you control.
A rich text editor with tags for personal or team notes.
Add image and audio attachments, share notes with others, keep version history, and set reminders.
Teams with an identity provider can configure OpenID Connect sign-in instead of local accounts.
Nothing else to run or maintain — the database is embedded in the same container as the app.
Anchor 0.17.2 is pinned by immutable image digest for a repeatable install.
Notes and the embedded database live on the anchor_data volume and survive a container restart — verified by reading a note and its tag back after restart and re-login.
Managed hosting for Anchor, so the parts that keep it online are not your problem.
Someone who takes notes on a train or in a basement keeps editing without a connection. Notes are stored locally and sync to your own Anchor server the next time the device is online.
A small team shares a meeting note or checklist from their own Anchor server. Each person has an account, and the owner decides whether another user can only read the note or edit it too.
Someone switching from another notes tool imports plain Markdown notes into Anchor, and can export them again or take a full library backup from Settings, keeping the data portable.
An administrator sets Registration Mode to Require Review or Disabled, manages users in the admin panel, and can connect an OpenID Connect provider so a team signs in with its existing identity.

xCloud works really well, I am surprised by its performance being this the release version, I have tried many paid platforms such as runcloud, cloudpages or serveravatar, as well as free platforms such as CyberPanel, CloudPanel or Hestia Control Panel and direct competitors such as SpinupWP and FlyWP. Of all those that I have tried, the platform that works best for WordPress is SpinupWP and I believe that xCloud can reach and surpass that development, its roadmap is promising. Congratulations to the xCloud team, I hope they become the leading platform in the segment, it has all the potential to achieve it!
Brian GeovannyI've been with runcloud for the last 3 years. However, after trying xcloud for the last month, I'm switching over. They are on a roll with their setup.
Kevin PinedaI'm moving my servers to xCloud, a cloud control panel by M Asif Rahman and the WPDeveloper team. Their roadmap looks interesting and no, there are no team mates nor API limits with xCloud! #xCloud #wordpress #hosting
Leo KooHow Cloud Nine Web Elevated Client Experience While Streamlining Hosting Operations using xCloud
Ed EllinghamxCloud is like having an expert server team on call — without the big agency costs. It's given me back my time and given my clients peace of mind. Highly recommended for freelancers and small teams who want reliable performance and security.
Dumitru ButucelxCloud isn't just a solution. It's like one of that friend who got your back when you screw things up pretty bad.
Waqar AhmedTrust me when I say, once people explore the potential of xCloud they gonna switch from other panels, just keep delivering the best tech, lots of love for the team 😍😍
Rahul SinghSo far my experience has been smooth like silk. I didn't imagine that configuring and managing a VPS would be so easy. As of today, I have deployed 8 sites. The support is good, and they treat users with respect, even if they ask stupid questions (myself included). For the future, I hope for greater flexibility in scheduled backups and more comprehensive and consistent documentation. I'm sure that within a few months, xCloud will become the leader in its segment. This community is amazing, and the Staff here is super helpful.
Massimo VillaCame from cloudways then to runcloud then to xcloud. Looks like I'm staying here.
Gerson ElI've recently taken all of my Vultr-hosted sites and gotten rid of cPanel for them to substitute it with xCloud. I have to say, I'm really impressed with xCloud so far! The interface is definitely the standout feature for me.
Tony LewisI came from Cloudways and won't go back. Highly impressed with xCloud. Glad I gave them a chance.
Jared McDowellI like xCloud better than RunCloud, but one thing I'll point out is that some years ago RunCloud was hungry for business, the support was outstanding, and the community was active and helped each other. Maybe it was sold, there was a change in management, or they stopped being hungry, but the quality of the RunCloud offering declined and it hasn't been moving forward quickly. My point is that currently the xCloud team has the edge and it is theirs to keep or lose
David McCanHow Kevin Heinrichs Cut Hosting Costs by 84% While Running WooCommerce & Node.js Sites Efficiently
Kevin HeinrichsI had 150 sites on cloudways and am in the process of moving them to xcloud. Much faster and better priced.
Dan SpinozaDear xCloud Team, I have been using xCloud for some time now and am genuinely impressed with its capabilities and the flexibility it offers by allowing users to bring their own VPS for management. It's a fantastic service, and my experience so far has been very positive. Successful migrated 5 sites on a single server. Xcloud migration tool worked great. There were few hiccups with security plugin like MalCare but disabling the plugin prior to migration worked just fine.
Rahil MaknojiaCame from runcloud. Tried xcloud and never came back.

Gary MoodyxCloud gave me what no other hosting platform could: the flexibility of a VPS with the convenience of managed WordPress. As a solo founder running an entire business on one server, that combination is an important unfair advantage.
Jorge de los Reyes MartínezI use Server Avatar and xCloud and I'll sooner use xCloud than Server Avatar personally.

Yes, and this Anchor notes Docker hosting template does it for you: one pinned container with the web interface, API and embedded PostgreSQL, HTTPS on your domain and the anchor_data volume. Your notes live on your own server, not in an Anchor notes cloud account.
Yes. Anchor is offline first: notes are stored locally, all edits work without a connection, and changes sync across your devices when they are online again. The server this template deploys is what the devices sync with, so keep it reachable over HTTPS.
Yes. Anchor is released under the AGPL-3.0 licence, and the licence file is linked from this page at the pinned 0.17.2 tag. The xCloud bill covers the dedicated server beneath it, which is a separate matter from the app's own licence.
Yes. Its README lists Import & Export, so you can back up your full library or move notes in and out as plain Markdown. In the app it lives under Settings > Export & Import, which also produces a .zip backup of your Anchor notes.
Yes. Anchor lets you share a note with other users as a viewer or an editor, and notes stay private to their owner unless shared. Note that profile pictures are served without sign-in, to anyone who knows the address, while note attachments are not.
Yes, optionally. OpenID Connect sign-in is off until you uncomment the OIDC_ lines in the environment editor and redeploy. Register https://YOUR-DOMAIN/api/auth/oidc/callback with your provider; the mobile app uses anchor://oidc/callback as a public client. Local accounts keep working unless you disable internal auth.
Upstream has a mobile app, and its README lists an Android home screen widget; this page does not promise iOS. The template notes that after a domain change you must point the mobile app at the new address, so keep one domain.
Anchor has no built-in backups. Use Settings > Export & Import for an app-level .zip export, and back up the anchor_data volume as one unit, because the database and uploads share it. Run a single container against that volume and test a restore.
Yes, by default, and the first account registered becomes the administrator, so register right after install. Sign-up stays open until you set Registration Mode to Require Review or Disabled in Admin Settings. Restrict access with a firewall if the instance is private.
Anchor's manifest floor is 2 GB of disk, one CPU core and 512 MB of RAM, which covers the app plus its embedded PostgreSQL. This page sells the 6 GB tier, which leaves ample room for attachments and more users.
Upgrades are not automatic. The template pins Anchor 0.17.2 by immutable digest and existing installs stay on it. Read the upstream release notes, back up anchor_data, then bump the readable tag and digest together. Never change PG_PASSWORD after first start; changing JWT_SECRET signs everyone out.
Yes. There is no lock-in — cancel any time. Hosting is billed monthly and charged for what you actually use, so when you delete the server the unused balance is refunded to your account, less up to 10% in payment-processing fees.
Connect your first server in minutes. No plan you have to grow into.
