From Sign-Up to a Live Shiori In Just 3 Easy Steps

Self-hosting Shiori normally means a container, generated secrets, a domain and a certificate before a single bookmark is saved. This is the same result without assembling any of it.

  1. Step 01

Create your xCloud account and pick Shiori from the OneClick catalog. Enter a site title and, if you like, change the default administrator username.

  2. Step 02

    We Deploy It For You

One click. We bring up the pinned Shiori 1.8.0 image, generate a fresh administrator password and session secret, replace the insecure upstream first-boot credentials, and publish it over HTTPS on your domain.

  3. Step 03

    Sign In And Start Saving

Open your HTTPS URL and sign in with the generated credentials shown in your xCloud credential panel. Add your first bookmark or import a Netscape bookmark export.

Everything Shiori Does, On Your Own Server

Shiori runs in full here — the same bookmark manager as any hosted offering, with the archive on infrastructure you control.

  • Offline Webpage Archiving

Save a page and keep a readable, searchable copy alongside the bookmark itself, so a link going dead doesn't cost you the content.

  • Tags And Full-Text Search

Organize bookmarks by tag and search across saved and archived content — handled inside Shiori itself, with no second service to run.

  • Import And Export

Bring bookmarks in from a Netscape bookmark file and export the same way, so your archive is never locked to one tool.

  • Browser Extensions And PWA

Capture pages straight from your browser or share into Shiori as an installable PWA, without a separate clipping service.

  • HTTPS From The Start

Served on your own domain with a certificate issued and renewed for you, not on a shared subdomain.

  • One Volume, Complete State

The SQLite database, thumbnails, readable content and archives all live on one persistent volume that survives a restart.

See why agencies, developers, startups, and growing businesses choose xCloud to power their projects.

xCloud works really well, I am surprised by its performance being this the release version, I have tried many paid platforms such as runcloud, cloudpages or serveravatar, as well as free platforms such as CyberPanel, CloudPanel or Hestia Control Panel and direct competitors such as SpinupWP and FlyWP. Of all those that I have tried, the platform that works best for WordPress is SpinupWP and I believe that xCloud can reach and surpass that development, its roadmap is promising. Congratulations to the xCloud team, I hope they become the leading platform in the segment, it has all the potential to achieve it!

I've been with runcloud for the last 3 years. However, after trying xcloud for the last month, I'm switching over. They are on a roll with their setup.

I'm moving my servers to xCloud, a cloud control panel by M Asif Rahman and the WPDeveloper team. Their roadmap looks interesting and no, there are no team mates nor API limits with xCloud! #xCloud #wordpress #hosting

xCloud is like having an expert server team on call — without the big agency costs. It's given me back my time and given my clients peace of mind. Highly recommended for freelancers and small teams who want reliable performance and security.

xCloud isn't just a solution. It's like one of that friend who got your back when you screw things up pretty bad.

Trust me when I say, once people explore the potential of xCloud they gonna switch from other panels, just keep delivering the best tech, lots of love for the team 😍😍

So far my experience has been smooth like silk. I didn't imagine that configuring and managing a VPS would be so easy. As of today, I have deployed 8 sites. The support is good, and they treat users with respect, even if they ask stupid questions (myself included). For the future, I hope for greater flexibility in scheduled backups and more comprehensive and consistent documentation. I'm sure that within a few months, xCloud will become the leader in its segment. This community is amazing, and the Staff here is super helpful.

Came from cloudways then to runcloud then to xcloud. Looks like I'm staying here.

I've recently taken all of my Vultr-hosted sites and gotten rid of cPanel for them to substitute it with xCloud. I have to say, I'm really impressed with xCloud so far! The interface is definitely the standout feature for me.
Tony Lewis
I came from Cloudways and won't go back. Highly impressed with xCloud. Glad I gave them a chance.
Jared McDowell
I like xCloud better than RunCloud, but one thing I'll point out is that some years ago RunCloud was hungry for business, the support was outstanding, and the community was active and helped each other. Maybe it was sold, there was a change in management, or they stopped being hungry, but the quality of the RunCloud offering declined and it hasn't been moving forward quickly. My point is that currently the xCloud team has the edge and it is theirs to keep or lose

Dear xCloud Team, I have been using xCloud for some time now and am genuinely impressed with its capabilities and the flexibility it offers by allowing users to bring their own VPS for management. It's a fantastic service, and my experience so far has been very positive. Successful migrated 5 sites on a single server. Xcloud migration tool worked great. There were few hiccups with security plugin like MalCare but disabling the plugin prior to migration worked just fine.

Frequently Asked Questions

Feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns you may have.

What is Shiori?

Shiori is an MIT-licensed, open-source bookmark manager written in Go. It supports searchable bookmarks, tags, import/export, browser extensions, PWA sharing and offline webpage archiving. This template deploys version 1.8.0 with an embedded SQLite database rather than a separate database service.

Can I run a self-hosted Shiori instance?

Yes — that is exactly what this template deploys. Self-hosted Shiori normally means running the Go binary yourself and pointing it at a database; here that container, its generated credentials, the domain and the SSL certificate are provisioned for you in about five minutes.

Is Shiori free?

The upstream core project is MIT-licensed with no software fee identified. You still pay for the server and xCloud plan it runs on, plus domain registration and off-server backup storage if you use them.

Does the template create a default admin account?

It creates one, but not the insecure kind. Shiori's public first-boot owner credentials are replaced during install: xCloud generates a 24-character administrator password and a separate 48-character session secret, then verifies the new login before reporting the install complete. You choose the administrator username (default admin, alphanumeric plus dashes/underscores, up to 32 characters).

Does the template use MySQL or PostgreSQL?

No. This exact template uses Shiori's embedded SQLite baseline in one container, matching the upstream single-container deployment rather than adding a separate database.

Where is my data stored?

The complete persistent boundary is the shiori_data volume mounted at /srv/shiori, containing the SQLite database, thumbnails, readable content and webpage archives. Offline archives and large bookmark collections can use substantially more disk than the catalog minimum.

What are the server requirements?

The template manifest asks for 256 MB of RAM, 1 CPU core and 1 GB of disk as a floor. This page sells the 6 GB tier, well beyond what a lightweight Go binary and embedded SQLite need — the extra headroom mostly matters for archive and thumbnail storage as your bookmark collection grows.

Is Shiori exposed directly on a public port?

No. The application port is bound to localhost and published only through xCloud-managed nginx over HTTPS — it is never directly reachable on a public Docker port.

How do I back up Shiori?

Back up the complete shiori_data volume. For a consistent copy, stop writes or use an SQLite-aware snapshot before copying it. Keep off-server copies, protect them as potentially sensitive browsing/research data, and test restoration into a disposable deployment.

Does xCloud automatically update Shiori?

No. The template pins Shiori 1.8.0 by immutable image digest. A catalog re-sync affects new installations only — existing sites keep running the version they were installed with until you choose to upgrade, and changing rendered environment values later does not rotate an existing username or password.

Is xCloud officially partnered with Shiori?

No. No official partnership or endorsement between xCloud and Shiori has been verified. This is a deployment and server-management option for the open-source Shiori project.

Can I run other apps on the same server?

Yes. It is a dedicated Cloud VPS, not a locked appliance, so you can deploy other OneClick apps or your own sites beside it as long as the resources are there.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. There is no lock-in — cancel any time. Hosting is billed monthly and charged for what you actually use, so when you delete the server the unused balance is refunded to your account, less up to 10% in payment-processing fees.
