What is LLDAP?

Self-hosted LLDAP is a lightweight authentication server that provides an opinionated, simplified LDAP interface for authentication. Its README says it integrates with many backends, from Keycloak to Authelia to Nextcloud, comes with a frontend that makes user management easy, and lets users edit their own details or reset their password by email. It is deliberately not a full LDAP server, stands in for a hosted identity directory, and is GPL-3.0 licensed.

How much RAM does LLDAP need?

The manifest asks for 512 MB of RAM, 1 CPU core and 3 GB of disk as a floor, because LLDAP is lightweight. The 6 GB Cloud VPS sold on this page is well above that, leaving room for other apps on the same server.

Is LLDAP free and open source?

Yes. LLDAP is GPL-3.0 licensed, per the LICENSE file at the v0.6.3 tag, so licensing costs nothing; the dedicated Cloud VPS is what xCloud bills, and your directory of users and groups stays on your own volume rather than with a hosted vendor.

Can you run LLDAP with Docker?

How do I sign in to LLDAP?

As admin. The username is fixed, with no username field at deploy time. xCloud generates the administrator password during installation and shows it in your credential panel. Change it after signing in, and keep the generated JWT secret and key seed private.

Does LLDAP expose LDAP or LDAPS to the internet?

No, not by default. This template keeps LDAP traffic private to the managed server, and only the web administration interface is reverse-proxied over HTTPS. Connecting another host over LDAP needs a secured private network path that you set up yourself.

Does LLDAP support SSO or OIDC?

This template configures LDAP-compatible directory access only. It does not set up single sign-on, OIDC or SAML, so use a tool such as Authelia or Keycloak in front of LLDAP if you need those, and test the connection before relying on it.

Can I change the LLDAP Base DN later?

You can, but choose it before connecting any clients. Changing the LDAP Base DN after applications are already pointed at your directory requires coordinated updates on every one of those clients, so settle it at install.

What should I back up on an LLDAP server?

The lldap_data volume, together with the stable JWT secret and key seed from the Environment editor. Restore them as one coordinated set so users, groups and sessions stay usable. Copy them off the server and test a restore.

How do I upgrade LLDAP?

Nothing upgrades it for you: the install stays on pinned release 0.6.3 until you adopt a newer template version. Back up lldap_data and the secrets first, read the upstream release notes, then check sign-in and a client afterwards.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. There is no lock-in — cancel any time. Hosting is billed monthly and charged for what you actually use, so when you delete the server the unused balance is refunded to your account, less up to 10% in payment-processing fees.
