What is Postiz?

Postiz is an open-source social media scheduling and management platform with scheduling, calendar views, cross-posting, analytics, team collaboration, a public API and webhooks, and integrations with n8n, Make and Zapier. It supports channels such as Instagram, LinkedIn, X, Reddit, TikTok, Facebook, YouTube, Mastodon and Bluesky. A self-hosted Postiz is a social media scheduler on your own server, an alternative to hosted tools such as Buffer. It is licensed AGPL-3.0.

How much RAM does Postiz need?

The template floor is 4096 MB of RAM, 2 CPU cores and 20 GB of disk, with the worker the largest consumer. The template README suggests 8 GB for comfort, so this page sells the 6 GB plan, above the floor.

Can you self-host Postiz with Docker?

Yes. This template covers postiz docker hosting end to end: the vendor image, PostgreSQL, Redis and Temporal with its own database and Elasticsearch, all pinned, six named volumes, secrets and HTTPS.

Which social networks does Postiz support?

Upstream shows channels including Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn, Reddit, TikTok, Facebook, Pinterest, Threads, X, Slack, Discord, Mastodon and Bluesky. None are preconnected here; you add each provider's credentials in the Environment editor and redeploy.

Do I need my own developer apps for Postiz?

Yes. Postiz includes no OAuth apps, so you create a developer app for each provider, set its callback to your domain and pass any approval process. The post composer needs at least one connected channel.

Can anyone register on my Postiz?

Yes until you close it. Public signup is open so the first account can be created. Register at once, then set DISABLE_REGISTRATION to true in the Environment editor and restart, so nobody else can sign up.

Is Postiz free?

Yes. Postiz is AGPL-3.0 software and upstream says its hosted and self-hosted versions do not differ. Your cost is the Cloud VPS, so this Postiz cloud install is separate from the hosted Postiz Cloud, which has its own plans.

How do I back up Postiz?

Back up all six volumes together in one window: postiz_config, postiz_uploads, postiz_postgres_data, postiz_redis_data, postiz_temporal_postgres_data and postiz_temporal_elasticsearch_data. Keep copies off the server and test a restore.

How do I upgrade Postiz?

Postiz stays on its pinned v2.23.0 image set until you adopt a newer template version. Copy all six volumes beforehand and read both the Postiz and Temporal release notes. No upgrade is automatic.

Is Postiz an alternative to Buffer?

For scheduling and publishing, yes. Postiz offers calendar views, cross-posting and team collaboration as software you host. Upstream lists Postiz as an alternative to Buffer.com, and you take on provider app approvals, updates and backups yourself.

Why does a Postiz redeploy take several minutes?

A redeploy restarts the API, worker and frontend together with Temporal, and they come back in sequence, which takes a few minutes. Plan credential changes for a quiet time, since scheduled posts wait until the worker is back.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. There is no lock-in — cancel any time. Hosting is billed monthly and charged for what you actually use, so when you delete the server the unused balance is refunded to your account, less up to 10% in payment-processing fees.
