What is SQLPage?
SQLPage is an open-source tool that turns SQL files into interactive web applications — forms, tables and dashboards — without writing a conventional backend. This template deploys SQLPage version 0.46.0 with a ready-to-use, authenticated SQLite starter application.
Is SQLPage free?
Yes — SQLPage v0.46.0 is free and open source under the MIT License. What you pay xCloud for is the dedicated server it runs on and the management around it, not the software itself.
Can I self-host SQLPage?
Yes — that is exactly what this template deploys. It brings up the official SQLPage image behind a Caddy gateway, both pinned by immutable digest, generates Basic Auth credentials, mounts two persistent volumes, and publishes it over HTTPS on your domain in minutes instead of assembled by hand.
What database does the starter application use?
The bundled starter uses SQLPage's embedded SQLite database, stored on the sqlpage_config volume. SQLPage itself can also connect to supported external databases for larger applications, but this template does not configure one out of the box.
How do I sign in?
xCloud generates a Basic Auth username (default admin, or one you choose) and a 24-character password at install time, shown once in your Credentials panel alongside the SQLPage URL. Open that URL and sign in with those credentials.
What does xCloud configure automatically?
A Caddy gateway enforcing Basic Auth on every route except the unauthenticated /healthz endpoint, generated credentials, the starter SQL migration and application page, the domain and the HTTPS route. Only the gateway is published — SQLPage itself has no host port.
Is SQLPage reachable without authentication?
No, except for /healthz, which returns a static readiness response with no auth so xCloud can monitor the service. Every application route sits behind Caddy's Basic Auth.
What happens to my data when the container restarts?
On every restart, the gateway rewrites only the two baseline starter files (the starter migration and index.sql) — it does not touch the SQLite database itself, which lives in sqlpage_config and persists across restarts.
How do I rotate the password later?
Update SQLPAGE_PASSWORD in xCloud's Environment editor, save the change, and use Restart/Redeploy. Keep it stable otherwise so existing users can continue to authenticate — rotating it signs out anyone using the old credential.
What should I back up?
sqlpage_web and sqlpage_config together, from the same recovery point: the web volume holds your .sql application files, while the config volume holds migrations, configuration and the embedded SQLite database that is the actual data.
Does xCloud automatically back up or update SQLPage?
No. The template pins SQLPage and Caddy by immutable digest; a catalog re-sync affects new installations only. Review SQLPage's release notes, take a coordinated backup of both volumes, and verify authentication, the form/table workflow and HTTPS before changing either pinned image.
What are the server requirements, and why does this page sell 6 GB?
The template manifest asks for 1 GB of RAM, one CPU core and 10 GB of disk as a floor for SQLPage and its gateway. This page sells the 6 GB tier as the entry rung, with real headroom above that floor for real SQL query workloads and a growing application.
What survives a restart?
Everything on sqlpage_web and sqlpage_config, because both are persistent named volumes — your SQL files and the embedded SQLite database. Only the two baseline starter files are refreshed; nothing else is touched.
Is xCloud officially partnered with SQLPage?
No. No official partnership or endorsement between xCloud and the SQLPage project has been verified. This is a deployment and server-management option for the open-source SQLPage project.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. There is no lock-in — cancel any time. Hosting is billed monthly and charged for what you actually use, so when you delete the server the unused balance is refunded to your account, less up to 10% in payment-processing fees.
