I like xCloud better than RunCloud, but one thing I'll point out is that some years ago RunCloud was hungry for business, the support was outstanding, and the community was active and helped each other. Maybe it was sold, there was a change in management, or they stopped being hungry, but the quality of the RunCloud offering declined and it hasn't been moving forward quickly. What is Actual Budget?

Actual Budget is an MIT-licensed, local-first personal finance and envelope-budgeting application with accounts, transactions, reports, rules, schedules, sync and optional bank import.

Is Actual Budget free?

The open-source application is free to self-host. VPS, xCloud service, domains, backup storage and optional third-party bank-sync services may cost extra.

Can I self-host Actual Budget with Docker?

Yes. This xCloud template deploys the official Actual server container, pinned to version 26.7.0, behind xCloud nginx with persistent /data storage.

Does xCloud know my Actual password?

No. You create the server password inside Actual on first visit — the template does not generate, display or retain one.

What are the server requirements?

The template declares a minimum of 512 MB RAM, 1 vCPU and 2 GB disk as an installation floor. This page sells the 6 GB tier, which is comfortably above that; a heavier household with larger histories, reports and imports may want more.

Where is the data stored?

The server-side boundary is the persistent /data volume. Actual is local-first, so use the app's own More → Settings → Export data feature alongside infrastructure backups, especially before updates.

Does restart delete my budget?

It shouldn't — the template keeps state in a named volume. Back up the complete /data volume regularly and keep encrypted off-server copies as well.

Does bank sync run automatically?

Actual's documentation describes manual sync controls through supported providers. Provider availability, pricing, credentials and security are your own concern, separate from this hosting.

Is this fully managed?

No. xCloud simplifies deployment and server controls. You remain responsible for application configuration, data governance, backups, restore testing, optional integrations and planned upgrades.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. There is no lock-in — cancel any time. Hosting is billed monthly and charged for what you actually use, so when you delete the server the unused balance is refunded to your account, less up to 10% in payment-processing fees.
