What is changedetection.io?

An open-source, Apache-2.0 website change-monitoring application. It periodically fetches pages or endpoints, compares snapshots, records meaningful differences, and can notify you through the channels you configure — common for price, stock, policy and release monitoring.

Can I self-host website change detection?

Yes — that is what this is. Self-hosting normally means a container, a reverse proxy, a TLS certificate and a password decision before the first watch exists. On xCloud it is a OneClick app, so the server, HTTPS and the dashboard password are provisioned for you.

What does the xCloud template monitor?

Ordinary HTML pages, text, PDF text and JSON endpoints — prices, stock status, policy pages, release notes, documentation and feeds are all fair game through the built-in fetcher.

Does the template support JavaScript-rendered pages?

No. This first xCloud template ships only the lightweight built-in HTTP fetcher. Upstream's browser-automation options — Playwright, Sockpuppet, Selenium, screenshots, managed proxy locations — are intentionally excluded from this template.

Is the dashboard secure by default?

Yes. An Admin Password of 12–64 characters is required at setup — set your own or let xCloud generate a 24-character one. The application port binds to localhost behind xCloud nginx, and the dashboard is only reachable over HTTPS.

What are the server requirements?

The template manifest asks for 512 MB of RAM, 1 CPU core and 2 GB of disk as a floor — an eligibility minimum, not a production size. This page sells the 6 GB tier, well above that; many watches, frequent checks or long history retention will want more.

Where are watches and change history stored?

Settings, watches, snapshots, history and notification configuration are stored in the changedetection_data volume at /datastore, which survives a restart.

How do I back up or update changedetection.io?

Back up the complete changedetection_data volume off-server and test a restore before relying on it. New installs are pinned to 0.55.8; updates are a deliberate step — back up first, review upstream release notes, then update through the xCloud upgrade path.

Are notifications included?

changedetection.io supports many notification integrations, but you configure and pay for any third-party notification service, email transport, proxy or API credential you use — none are bundled.

Is xCloud an official changedetection.io partner?

No. No official partnership or endorsement between xCloud and changedetection.io is claimed. This is a deployment and server-management option for the open-source project, separate from any hosted subscription upstream offers.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. There is no lock-in — cancel any time. Hosting is billed monthly and charged for what you actually use, so when you delete the server the unused balance is refunded to your account, less up to 10% in payment-processing fees.
