Is Jenkins free?
Yes — it is free and open source under the MIT license. What you pay xCloud for is the dedicated server it runs on and the management around it, not the application itself.
Can I self-host Jenkins?
Yes — that is exactly what this template deploys. It brings up the official Jenkins 2.568.2 LTS JDK 21 image pinned by immutable digest, mounts its persistent controller-state volume and publishes it over HTTPS on your domain in minutes instead of assembled by hand.
How do I sign in for the first time?
You choose or generate an administrator username (3-32 characters) and password (12+ characters, xCloud can generate 24) at install time. A Groovy init script creates that account on the first empty jenkins_home volume and disables anonymous access before you ever sign in.
What does xCloud configure automatically?
Your administrator account, disabled anonymous access, the persistent jenkins_home volume, the domain and the HTTPS route. Only the Jenkins web interface is published through xCloud-managed ingress.
Can I add build agents?
Not automatically. The template deliberately excludes the inbound agent port, the Docker socket, privileged mode and bundled build agents. Add agents later through Jenkins-supported authenticated connections and a separately secured execution environment.
What should I back up?
The entire jenkins_home volume, as one security-sensitive boundary. It contains users, credentials, jobs, build history, plugins, secrets and controller configuration. Take a backup before upgrades or plugin changes.
Can I change the administrator password?
Yes, but not by editing ADMIN_USERNAME or ADMIN_PASSWORD in the Environment editor after first boot — a private marker in jenkins_home prevents that from replacing later account changes. Sign in, open your administrator profile, choose Security, update the password, and verify a fresh login before discarding the old credential.
Does xCloud automatically back up or update Jenkins?
No. The template pins the exact Jenkins 2.568.2 LTS JDK 21 image digest; a catalog re-sync affects new installations only. Back up jenkins_home, review the Jenkins LTS upgrade guide and plugin compatibility, then verify login, one representative job and its build history before changing the pinned image.
What are the server requirements?
The template manifest asks for 2 GB of RAM, two CPU cores and 10 GB of disk as a floor. This page sells the 6 GB tier per the same rule every OneClick app uses — real requirements depend on plugin count, build concurrency and retained artifacts, so prefer dedicated agents for substantial builds.
What survives a restart?
Everything on jenkins_home, because it is a persistent named volume. A restart does not touch existing users, credentials, jobs, build history or plugins.
Is xCloud officially partnered with Jenkins?
No. No official partnership or endorsement between xCloud and the Jenkins project has been verified. This is a deployment and server-management option for the open-source Jenkins project.
Can I run other apps on the same server?
Yes. It is a dedicated Cloud VPS, not a locked appliance, so you can deploy other OneClick apps or your own sites beside it as long as the resources are there.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. There is no lock-in — cancel any time. Hosting is billed monthly and charged for what you actually use, so when you delete the server the unused balance is refunded to your account, less up to 10% in payment-processing fees.
