Kener Hosting Live In 5 Minutes

Kener hosting on xCloud lets you deploy Kener, a self-hosted status page with uptime monitors, incidents and maintenance events, on your own domain. We run the pinned 4.1.3 image beside Redis, generate the secret key that signs sessions, keep SQLite and queue data on persistent volumes and publish it over HTTPS. You create the first owner account yourself, so no one else holds the keys to your page.

What is Kener?

Self-hosted Kener is an MIT-licensed status page system built with SvelteKit and Node.js. Upstream says it is not trying to replace heavyweights such as Datadog or Atlassian, but to offer a simple, modern way to publish a good-looking status page with minimal effort. You add monitors, assign them to a page, and report incidents and maintenance events. It is a lightweight alternative to Atlassian Statuspage.

On xCloud the template deploys the official Kener 4.1.3 image with Redis 7.4.10-alpine, which holds queue and scheduler state, and Kener's SQLite database. The SQLite file, users, monitors, incidents and site settings sit on the kener_database volume, and Redis persists to kener_redis_data. The secret key is generated once and must stay stable. Email and external databases are not configured.

From Sign-Up to a Live Kener In Just 3 Easy Steps

A Kener server normally means an app container, Redis, a secret key, two data volumes, a domain and a certificate before the first monitor reports. This is the same result without assembling any of it.

  1. Step 01

Create your xCloud account and pick Kener from the OneClick catalog. Choose your domain and server — there are no fields to fill in because the secret key is generated for you.

  2. Step 02

    We Deploy It For You

One click. We start Kener 4.1.3 and Redis 7.4.10 pinned, with Redis kept off the public internet, mount kener_database and kener_redis_data, generate KENER_SECRET_KEY and publish the page over HTTPS.

  3. Step 03

    Create The Owner Account

Open /account/signin on your domain straight away and create the first owner. Then set the public Site URL under Manage → Site Configurations and add a first monitor under Manage → Monitors.

Everything Kener Does, On Your Own Server

The status page features upstream documents run here, with monitors and history stored on volumes you control.

  • A Public Status Page

Assign monitors to a page and visitors see their current state on your domain, in a design that upstream says you can tailor to match your brand.

  • Uptime Monitors

Create an API or website monitor under Manage → Monitors and Kener starts collecting checks on its schedule, with results shown on the page you assigned it to.

  • Incidents And Maintenance

Publish incident communication and plan maintenance events so visitors learn about a problem or a planned window from your status page first.

  • Owner Account Bootstrap

Kener allows the first owner to be created only while no user exists. Later visitors reach the sign-in page, so claim the account straight after install.

  • Redis For Queues

Redis with append-only persistence holds Kener's queues and scheduling. It publishes no host port and its data is kept on its own volume.

  • Configurable Site Settings

Set the public Site URL and other options in Manage → Site Configurations, and add supported environment settings later through the Environment editor.

Everything You Need To Run Your Status Page 24/7

Managed hosting for Kener, so the parts that keep it online are not your problem.

  • Kener 4.1.3 deployed instantly
  • Images pinned for a reproducible install
  • Secret key generated for you
  • Redis kept off the public internet
  • Free SSL certificate
  • Server backups and snapshots
  • Server security updates included
  • 30+ server locations
  • Unused balance refunded

What You Can Do With Kener

  • Publish a branded status page

A SaaS team or agency puts a status page on its own domain so customers can check service health there before opening a support ticket.

  • Announce planned maintenance

An operations lead schedules a maintenance event ahead of a database migration, so customers see the window on the status page rather than finding out from errors.

  • Report incidents as they unfold

An on-call engineer posts and updates an incident on the page during an outage, giving customers one place to follow progress until it is resolved.

  • Replace a paid hosted status page

A small company moves from a hosted status page product to a Cloud VPS it controls, with monitors, incidents and history in its own SQLite volume.

Kener vs Alternatives

Atlassian Statuspage
A hosted status page product. Kener on xCloud keeps monitors, incidents and settings in your own kener_database volume, on a domain you control, with a deliberately lightweight feature set.
Better Stack
Better Stack is a hosted service. Kener covers monitors, incidents and a public page on your own server; email and alert integrations are not configured by this template.
Uptime Kuma
Uptime Kuma has its own xCloud page. Kener describes itself as a status page system first: monitors feed a branded public page where you also publish incidents and maintenance events for visitors.
Gatus
Gatus has its own xCloud page. In Kener you create monitors, assign them to pages and set site options through the Manage screens in the browser, with the data kept in SQLite.

Ready To Run Your Own Status Page?

Kener on xCloud runs on a dedicated Cloud VPS that we provision, patch, monitor and restore. Deploy faster. Keep your monitors on your own server. Stay in control.

See why agencies, developers, startups, and growing businesses choose xCloud to power their projects.

xCloud works really well, I am surprised by its performance being this the release version, I have tried many paid platforms such as runcloud, cloudpages or serveravatar, as well as free platforms such as CyberPanel, CloudPanel or Hestia Control Panel and direct competitors such as SpinupWP and FlyWP. Of all those that I have tried, the platform that works best for WordPress is SpinupWP and I believe that xCloud can reach and surpass that development, its roadmap is promising. Congratulations to the xCloud team, I hope they become the leading platform in the segment, it has all the potential to achieve it!

I've been with runcloud for the last 3 years. However, after trying xcloud for the last month, I'm switching over. They are on a roll with their setup.

I'm moving my servers to xCloud, a cloud control panel by M Asif Rahman and the WPDeveloper team. Their roadmap looks interesting and no, there are no team mates nor API limits with xCloud! #xCloud #wordpress #hosting

xCloud is like having an expert server team on call — without the big agency costs. It's given me back my time and given my clients peace of mind. Highly recommended for freelancers and small teams who want reliable performance and security.

xCloud isn't just a solution. It's like one of that friend who got your back when you screw things up pretty bad.

Trust me when I say, once people explore the potential of xCloud they gonna switch from other panels, just keep delivering the best tech, lots of love for the team 😍😍

So far my experience has been smooth like silk. I didn't imagine that configuring and managing a VPS would be so easy. As of today, I have deployed 8 sites. The support is good, and they treat users with respect, even if they ask stupid questions (myself included). For the future, I hope for greater flexibility in scheduled backups and more comprehensive and consistent documentation. I'm sure that within a few months, xCloud will become the leader in its segment. This community is amazing, and the Staff here is super helpful.

Came from cloudways then to runcloud then to xcloud. Looks like I'm staying here.

I've recently taken all of my Vultr-hosted sites and gotten rid of cPanel for them to substitute it with xCloud. I have to say, I'm really impressed with xCloud so far! The interface is definitely the standout feature for me.
Tony Lewis
I came from Cloudways and won't go back. Highly impressed with xCloud. Glad I gave them a chance.
Jared McDowell
I like xCloud better than RunCloud, but one thing I'll point out is that some years ago RunCloud was hungry for business, the support was outstanding, and the community was active and helped each other. Maybe it was sold, there was a change in management, or they stopped being hungry, but the quality of the RunCloud offering declined and it hasn't been moving forward quickly. My point is that currently the xCloud team has the edge and it is theirs to keep or lose

Dear xCloud Team, I have been using xCloud for some time now and am genuinely impressed with its capabilities and the flexibility it offers by allowing users to bring their own VPS for management. It's a fantastic service, and my experience so far has been very positive. Successful migrated 5 sites on a single server. Xcloud migration tool worked great. There were few hiccups with security plugin like MalCare but disabling the plugin prior to migration worked just fine.

Frequently Asked Questions

Feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns you may have.

Is Kener free?

Yes. Kener is open source under the MIT licence, so Kener has no licence fee, and its copyright notice should be preserved. Your monthly cost is the Cloud VPS. The template adds no paid tier of Kener itself.

How do I self-host Kener with Docker?

The template does it for you. It runs the official Kener 4.1.3 image with Redis under Docker Compose, mounts kener_database and kener_redis_data, generates the secret key and adds your domain and HTTPS. Kener Docker hosting here means no compose file, no ORIGIN setting and no proxy to configure.

Does Kener need Redis?

This template runs Redis because Kener uses it for queues and scheduling. A Redis 7.4.10-alpine container with append-only persistence starts beside Kener and publishes no host port. Its state sits on the kener_redis_data volume, so include that volume in backups together with kener_database.

What is the difference between Kener and Uptime Kuma?

Both are self-hosted tools, and xCloud has a OneClick page for each. Kener describes itself as a status page system, aimed at publishing service health, incidents and maintenance on a branded public page. Read Uptime Kuma's documentation to compare how it handles monitoring and its public pages.

Can Kener use a custom domain?

Yes. You choose the domain when you install, and xCloud issues the HTTPS certificate for it. After first sign-in, open Manage → Site Configurations and set the public Site URL to that same address, so links and the page itself point to the right place.

What can Kener monitor?

The template's first-run steps create an API or website monitor, assign it to a page and confirm checks are collected. Check Kener's own documentation for the pinned 4.1.3 release for any other monitor types. Note that a monitor running on the same VPS cannot report an outage of that VPS.

How do I back up Kener?

Back up both volumes as one unit: kener_database holds the SQLite database, users, monitors, incidents and settings, and kener_redis_data holds queue state. Pause writes and stop both services before a filesystem copy, keep an encrypted off-server backup, and test a restore.

How do I update Kener?

There is no automatic update. Kener 4.1.3 and Redis 7.4.10-alpine stay pinned on an existing site, because catalog changes reach new installs only. Read the upstream release and migration notes, back up both volumes, then recreate the containers with the same volume names. Never use docker compose down -v.

Is there a Kener cloud account I need?

No. Nothing here depends on a hosted Kener account. The status page runs on your own Cloud VPS, your monitors and history sit on its volumes, and you sign in with the owner account you create. xCloud and the Kener project have no partnership.

What are the server requirements?

Kener's manifest lists 1024 MB of RAM, one core and 3 GB of disk. Monitor count, check frequency, retention and alert queues can raise that, and the 6 GB tier sold here holds Kener, Redis and room for other apps.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. There is no lock-in — cancel any time. Hosting is billed monthly and charged for what you actually use, so when you delete the server the unused balance is refunded to your account, less up to 10% in payment-processing fees.
