Leantime Hosting Live In 5 Minutes
Leantime hosting on xCloud lets you deploy Leantime, self-hosted project management software built around goals, planning and execution, on your own domain. We run the pinned 3.9.8 image beside a private MySQL 8.4 database, generate every database and session secret, mount five persistent volumes and publish it over HTTPS. Open the setup wizard first to claim the admin account for your team.

What is Leantime?
Leantime is an AGPL-3.0 open-source project management system. Upstream positions it for non-project managers, combining strategy, planning and execution, and says it was built with ADHD, dyslexia and autism in mind. Self-hosted Leantime offers kanban, table, list, calendar and timeline views, goal tracking, timesheets, wikis and idea boards, and upstream pitches it as an alternative to Asana, ClickUp and Monday.
On xCloud the template deploys the official Leantime 3.9.8 image with a private mysql:8.4 sidecar, both pinned. The database lives on the leantime_db volume, with uploaded files, public files, plugins and logs on four more volumes. The schema initialises automatically at start. SMTP, S3, LDAP, OIDC, Redis and plugins are deliberately left out of this baseline, so you add only what you need.
From Sign-Up to a Live Leantime In Just 3 Easy Steps
A Leantime server normally means an app container, a MySQL database, session secrets, several data volumes, a domain and a certificate before the first project. This is the same result without assembling any of it.
Step 01
Sign Up
Create your xCloud account and pick Leantime from the OneClick catalog. Choose your domain and server — the install form has no fields because all infrastructure credentials are generated.
Step 02
We Deploy It For You
One click. We start Leantime 3.9.8 with a private MySQL 8.4 database kept off the public internet, mount the leantime_db, userfiles, plugins and logs volumes, generate the secrets and publish it over HTTPS.
Step 03
Claim The Admin Account
Open your URL and finish the setup wizard immediately, because until you do anyone who reaches the site can claim the first account. Then create a project and configure roles and team members.
Everything Leantime Does, On Your Own Server
The features upstream documents run here, with projects, files and history stored on volumes you control.
Kanban, Table And Timeline Views
Manage tasks as kanban boards, tables, lists, calendars or a gantt-style timeline, with unlimited subtasks and dependencies.
Goals And Metrics
Track goals and metrics next to your project plans, so the strategy and the tasks that serve it sit in the same system.
Timesheets And Time Tracking
Log time against tasks and review it in weekly timesheets, so the effort behind a project is recorded where the work is planned.
Wikis And Idea Boards
Keep documents in wikis, collect ideas on idea boards and hold retrospectives, with comments available on almost everything.
Roles And Two-Factor Login
Assign multiple user roles with per-project permissions, and turn on two-factor authentication for accounts once the first admin exists.
Planning Canvases
Use the Lean Canvas, Business Model Canvas, SWOT and risk analysis tools for planning alongside the task views, all in the open-source edition.

What You Can Do With Leantime
Tie team goals to project work
A startup founder records goals and metrics, then links milestones and tasks to them, so the team sees how today's work serves the plan.
Plan a sprint on a kanban board
A small product team groups tasks into a sprint, moves cards across a kanban board and checks progress on the project dashboard.
Log billable time in timesheets
A consultancy records hours against client tasks in weekly timesheets, giving the manager one place to review the effort behind each project.
Move off a hosted work tracker
A team that wants its plans, files and history on its own server replaces a hosted tool such as Asana with a Leantime instance and a MySQL volume it can back up.
Leantime vs Alternatives
- Asana
- A hosted work management service. Leantime on xCloud keeps projects, files and history on your own volumes, and upstream states that all its listed features are in the open-source version.
- Jira
- A hosted issue and project tracker. Leantime offers kanban, sprints, timesheets and goals in one self-hosted app, which upstream describes as simple as Trello but as feature-rich as Jira.
- OpenProject
- A self-hosted project management suite, also available as a OneClick app. Compare its feature set and licence against Leantime's goal-focused approach before choosing.
- Plane
- Another self-hosted project tracker you can deploy on xCloud. Check Plane's documentation next to Leantime's strategy and planning tools to see which fits your team.

xCloud works really well, I am surprised by its performance being this the release version, I have tried many paid platforms such as runcloud, cloudpages or serveravatar, as well as free platforms such as CyberPanel, CloudPanel or Hestia Control Panel and direct competitors such as SpinupWP and FlyWP. Of all those that I have tried, the platform that works best for WordPress is SpinupWP and I believe that xCloud can reach and surpass that development, its roadmap is promising. Congratulations to the xCloud team, I hope they become the leading platform in the segment, it has all the potential to achieve it!
Brian GeovannyI've been with runcloud for the last 3 years. However, after trying xcloud for the last month, I'm switching over. They are on a roll with their setup.
Kevin PinedaI'm moving my servers to xCloud, a cloud control panel by M Asif Rahman and the WPDeveloper team. Their roadmap looks interesting and no, there are no team mates nor API limits with xCloud! #xCloud #wordpress #hosting
Leo KooHow Cloud Nine Web Elevated Client Experience While Streamlining Hosting Operations using xCloud
Ed EllinghamxCloud is like having an expert server team on call — without the big agency costs. It's given me back my time and given my clients peace of mind. Highly recommended for freelancers and small teams who want reliable performance and security.
Dumitru ButucelxCloud isn't just a solution. It's like one of that friend who got your back when you screw things up pretty bad.
Waqar AhmedTrust me when I say, once people explore the potential of xCloud they gonna switch from other panels, just keep delivering the best tech, lots of love for the team 😍😍
Rahul SinghSo far my experience has been smooth like silk. I didn't imagine that configuring and managing a VPS would be so easy. As of today, I have deployed 8 sites. The support is good, and they treat users with respect, even if they ask stupid questions (myself included). For the future, I hope for greater flexibility in scheduled backups and more comprehensive and consistent documentation. I'm sure that within a few months, xCloud will become the leader in its segment. This community is amazing, and the Staff here is super helpful.
Massimo VillaCame from cloudways then to runcloud then to xcloud. Looks like I'm staying here.
Gerson ElI've recently taken all of my Vultr-hosted sites and gotten rid of cPanel for them to substitute it with xCloud. I have to say, I'm really impressed with xCloud so far! The interface is definitely the standout feature for me.
Tony LewisI came from Cloudways and won't go back. Highly impressed with xCloud. Glad I gave them a chance.
Jared McDowellI like xCloud better than RunCloud, but one thing I'll point out is that some years ago RunCloud was hungry for business, the support was outstanding, and the community was active and helped each other. Maybe it was sold, there was a change in management, or they stopped being hungry, but the quality of the RunCloud offering declined and it hasn't been moving forward quickly. My point is that currently the xCloud team has the edge and it is theirs to keep or lose
David McCanHow Kevin Heinrichs Cut Hosting Costs by 84% While Running WooCommerce & Node.js Sites Efficiently
Kevin HeinrichsI had 150 sites on cloudways and am in the process of moving them to xcloud. Much faster and better priced.
Dan SpinozaDear xCloud Team, I have been using xCloud for some time now and am genuinely impressed with its capabilities and the flexibility it offers by allowing users to bring their own VPS for management. It's a fantastic service, and my experience so far has been very positive. Successful migrated 5 sites on a single server. Xcloud migration tool worked great. There were few hiccups with security plugin like MalCare but disabling the plugin prior to migration worked just fine.
Rahil MaknojiaCame from runcloud. Tried xcloud and never came back.
Karl FanegaHow Advanced Web Strategies Saved Over $2,000 & Recovered 56 Hours per Month Managing 70+ Client Websites
Gary MoodyxCloud gave me what no other hosting platform could: the flexibility of a VPS with the convenience of managed WordPress. As a solo founder running an entire business on one server, that combination is an important unfair advantage.
Jorge de los Reyes MartínezI use Server Avatar and xCloud and I'll sooner use xCloud than Server Avatar personally.
Jay PaganoHow Newman Web Solutions Ensured Perfect Uptime and Seamless Scaling For 120+ WordPress Sites with xCloud
Lori NewmanI too have moved over to xCloud. It's pretty sweet. One click n8n and uptime Kuma apps
John ApertureI went from Cloudways to xCloud. No intention on switching in the foreseeable future.
Blaine MooreFrequently Asked Questions
Feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns you may have.
Is Leantime free?
The open-source edition is free under the AGPL-3.0 licence, and upstream says the features in its feature table are included in it. You pay for the Cloud VPS. Plugins are a separate matter: some on upstream's marketplace may be paid, and none are installed by this template.
How do I self-host Leantime with Docker?
The template does it for you. It runs the official Leantime 3.9.8 image and a private MySQL 8.4 container under Docker Compose, mounts five volumes, generates the secrets and adds your domain and HTTPS. Leantime Docker hosting here means no compose file or environment file to write.
Does Leantime need MySQL?
Yes. Upstream lists MySQL 8.0 or MariaDB 10.6 as requirements, and the template supplies a private mysql:8.4 container on the internal network with no published port. xCloud generates the database name, user and passwords, and the data lives in the leantime_db volume.
Is Leantime a good Asana alternative?
It can be for small teams. Upstream pitches Leantime as an alternative to ClickUp, Monday and Asana, with kanban, timesheets, goals and wikis in the open-source edition. Check that the integrations you use exist: this template configures no SMTP, LDAP, OIDC or S3, so mail needs setting up.
Is Leantime a good Jira alternative?
Upstream describes it as simple as Trello but as feature-rich as Jira, with sprints, milestones, dependencies and timesheets. It is built for non-project managers, so it may suit small teams more than large engineering organisations. Check the specific Jira features you depend on before you move.
What is the difference between Leantime and OpenProject?
Both are self-hosted project management suites, and xCloud has a OneClick page for each. Leantime stresses goals, strategy and approachability for non-project managers, with canvases and idea boards. Compare OpenProject's documentation against your workflow to decide which suits your team.
Does Leantime have plugins?
Upstream lets you extend Leantime through plugins and an API, and this template reserves a leantime_plugins volume for them. None are installed, and plugins are excluded from the baseline. Some marketplace plugins may be paid upstream, so check each one's terms before installing it.
How do I back up Leantime?
Back up all five volumes together: leantime_db for MySQL, leantime_userfiles for uploads, leantime_public_userfiles for public files and logos, leantime_plugins and leantime_logs. Use an application-consistent database backup, keep an encrypted off-server copy and test a restore before you rely on it.
How do I update Leantime?
There is no automatic update. Leantime 3.9.8 stays pinned by digest on an existing site, since catalog changes reach fresh installs alone. Back up every volume, read the release notes and database migrations, then update deliberately. Do not rename volumes or run docker compose down -v.
Is there a Leantime cloud account I need?
No. Nothing here depends on a hosted Leantime account. The app runs on your own Cloud VPS, your data sits on its volumes, and you create the first admin through the setup wizard. xCloud and the Leantime project have no partnership.
What are the server requirements?
Leantime requires at least 1 GB of memory, a single core and 5 GB of storage. Without SMTP configured, Leantime may fall back to local PHP mail, which is not reliable for production. The 6 GB tier sold here carries Leantime and its MySQL container comfortably.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. There is no lock-in — cancel any time. Hosting is billed monthly and charged for what you actually use, so when you delete the server the unused balance is refunded to your account, less up to 10% in payment-processing fees.
