What is Orbit?

Orbit is an open-source, real-time task manager from Noveum, released under the Apache-2.0 licence. It brings issues, boards, sprints, projects and docs into one workspace that updates the moment anyone changes anything, and it ships a built-in MCP server so AI agents can read the board and file work.

On xCloud it deploys as a private workspace: the administrator account is created at install and public sign-up is closed, so the instance stays yours and your team's.

From Sign-Up to a Live Workspace In Just 3 Easy Steps

Orbit is a web app, a WebSocket server, a scheduler, PostgreSQL, Redis and object storage working together. This is the same result without assembling any of it.

  1. Step 01

Create your xCloud account and pick Orbit from the OneClick catalog. Choose a domain for the app and one for file storage, then enter the administrator email.

  2. Step 02

    We Deploy It For You

One click. We bring up the official Orbit images, pinned by immutable digest, with private PostgreSQL, Redis, a WebSocket server and a scheduler kept off the public internet, mount the orbit_postgres_data, orbit_storage_data and orbit_redis_data volumes, generate the passwords, create your administrator account and publish Orbit and its file storage over HTTPS.

  3. Step 03

Sign In And Create Your First Issue

Open your HTTPS Orbit URL and sign in with the administrator email and the generated password from the protected installation credentials. Complete the short onboarding, create your workspace and file your first issue.

Everything Orbit Does, On Your Own Server

Orbit runs in full here: issues, boards, sprints, projects and docs for your team, backed by a database and file storage you own.

  • Issues, Boards And Sprints

Priorities, labels, states, estimates and assignees, shown as a fast list or a board, with timeboxed sprints that track scope, points and burndown.

  • Projects And Docs

Group work across teams and sprints, and keep rich-text docs with collections and comments beside the issues they describe.

  • Real-Time Sync

Changes reach teammates instantly over a dedicated WebSocket server, so a board never needs a refresh.

  • Built-In MCP Server

AI agents such as Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor can read the board and create work in Orbit; connect an MCP client from Settings.

  • Private File Uploads

Files go to a private S3-compatible bucket through short-lived signed links, up to 100 MB per file.

  • Closed Sign-Up By Default

The administrator is created at install and public sign-up returns 403, so a stranger who finds the URL cannot register.

Everything You Need To Run Your Task Manager 24/7

Managed hosting for Orbit, so the parts that keep it online are not your problem.

  • Orbit 2026.09.24 deployed instantly
  • Official images pinned by digest
  • Administrator account created for you
  • Private PostgreSQL and Redis
  • Free SSL certificate
  • Server backups and snapshots
  • Server security updates included
  • 30+ server locations
  • Unused balance refunded

What You Can Do With Orbit

  • Run sprints on your own server

Plan timeboxed sprints with scope, points and burndown, and keep issue history and attachments on a server you control.

  • Give a team one workspace for work and docs

Track issues on a board or list and write the docs that explain them in the same place, with updates syncing between users instantly.

  • Let AI agents work the backlog

Connect Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or another MCP client so an agent can read the board and create work in Orbit.

  • Keep a private tracker for sensitive projects

With sign-up closed and uploads kept in a private bucket, only people you add can see the work.

See why agencies, developers, startups, and growing businesses choose xCloud to power their projects.

xCloud works really well, I am surprised by its performance being this the release version, I have tried many paid platforms such as runcloud, cloudpages or serveravatar, as well as free platforms such as CyberPanel, CloudPanel or Hestia Control Panel and direct competitors such as SpinupWP and FlyWP. Of all those that I have tried, the platform that works best for WordPress is SpinupWP and I believe that xCloud can reach and surpass that development, its roadmap is promising. Congratulations to the xCloud team, I hope they become the leading platform in the segment, it has all the potential to achieve it!
Brian Geovanny
I've been with runcloud for the last 3 years. However, after trying xcloud for the last month, I'm switching over. They are on a roll with their setup.
Kevin Pineda
I'm moving my servers to xCloud, a cloud control panel by M Asif Rahman and the WPDeveloper team. Their roadmap looks interesting and no, there are no team mates nor API limits with xCloud! #xCloud #wordpress #hosting

xCloud is like having an expert server team on call — without the big agency costs. It's given me back my time and given my clients peace of mind. Highly recommended for freelancers and small teams who want reliable performance and security.

xCloud isn't just a solution. It's like one of that friend who got your back when you screw things up pretty bad.

Trust me when I say, once people explore the potential of xCloud they gonna switch from other panels, just keep delivering the best tech, lots of love for the team 😍😍

So far my experience has been smooth like silk. I didn't imagine that configuring and managing a VPS would be so easy. As of today, I have deployed 8 sites. The support is good, and they treat users with respect, even if they ask stupid questions (myself included). For the future, I hope for greater flexibility in scheduled backups and more comprehensive and consistent documentation. I'm sure that within a few months, xCloud will become the leader in its segment. This community is amazing, and the Staff here is super helpful.

Came from cloudways then to runcloud then to xcloud. Looks like I'm staying here.

I've recently taken all of my Vultr-hosted sites and gotten rid of cPanel for them to substitute it with xCloud. I have to say, I'm really impressed with xCloud so far! The interface is definitely the standout feature for me.
Tony Lewis
I came from Cloudways and won't go back. Highly impressed with xCloud. Glad I gave them a chance.
Jared McDowell
I like xCloud better than RunCloud, but one thing I'll point out is that some years ago RunCloud was hungry for business, the support was outstanding, and the community was active and helped each other. Maybe it was sold, there was a change in management, or they stopped being hungry, but the quality of the RunCloud offering declined and it hasn't been moving forward quickly. My point is that currently the xCloud team has the edge and it is theirs to keep or lose

Dear xCloud Team, I have been using xCloud for some time now and am genuinely impressed with its capabilities and the flexibility it offers by allowing users to bring their own VPS for management. It's a fantastic service, and my experience so far has been very positive. Successful migrated 5 sites on a single server. Xcloud migration tool worked great. There were few hiccups with security plugin like MalCare but disabling the plugin prior to migration worked just fine.

Frequently Asked Questions

Feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns you may have.

How do I sign in?

Use the administrator email you entered at install and the generated password from the protected installation credentials. The account is created on the first start; change the password inside Orbit after you sign in.

Can my team register themselves?

Not by default. Public sign-up is closed so the instance stays private; add teammates by invitation once email is configured, or configure Google or GitHub sign-in.

Why does the sign-up button still show on the login page?

Orbit has no setting to disable sign-up, so the template closes it at the gateway. The button is still shown but returns an error, while sign-in, password reset and the API keep working.

How do invitations and email sign-in codes work?

They need a Resend API key and a verified sender, set in the Environment editor followed by a redeploy. Google and GitHub sign-in need both the client ID and secret of that provider. Without email configured, those emails are not sent.

What runs alongside Orbit?

A WebSocket server for real-time updates, a scheduler, PostgreSQL, Redis and S3-compatible object storage for uploads. Only the Orbit app and the file storage API are published; every other service is private with no host ports.

Why does Orbit need two domains?

Browsers upload and download files straight to the file storage domain using short-lived signed links, so it must be served over HTTPS and reachable from the internet. Two subdomains of one parent domain keep things simple. The Orbit domain is the permanent identity of the install, so do not change it; the file storage domain can be changed.

Does Orbit work with AI agents?

Orbit ships a built-in MCP server; connect Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or another MCP client from Settings.

What is the upload size limit?

Uploads up to 100 MB per file are supported.

What should I back up?

The orbit_postgres_data volume (documents, accounts, metadata) and the orbit_storage_data volume (uploaded files), together, plus the generated session secret and the database and storage passwords. The orbit_redis_data volume holds cache and rate limits.

What survives a restart?

Issues, accounts and uploaded files survived an xCloud Restart in QA, which restarted all containers and then reopened a created issue, because the data lives on persistent named volumes.

Does xCloud automatically back up or update Orbit?

No. The template pins Orbit 2026.09.24 by immutable digest; new installations use the pinned release, existing sites are not automatically upgraded. Back up first, read the upstream release notes, then bump the readable tag and digest together on your own schedule. Server-level backups and snapshots are available on every Cloud VPS.

What are the server requirements, and why does this page sell 6 GB?

The template's baseline asks for 1 CPU core, 1024 MB of RAM and 10 GB of disk; measured idle use in QA was about 355 MiB. This page sells the 6 GB tier as the entry rung, with real headroom above that baseline.

Is xCloud officially partnered with Orbit?

No. No official partnership or endorsement between xCloud and Noveum or the Orbit project has been verified. This is a deployment and server-management option for the open-source Orbit project.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. There is no lock-in — cancel any time. Hosting is billed monthly and charged for what you actually use, so when you delete the server the unused balance is refunded to your account, less up to 10% in payment-processing fees.
