Locust Hosting Live In 5 Minutes

Deploy Locust hosting and run Python-based load tests from a self-hosted load testing tool with a login-protected web UI on your own domain. xCloud configures the pinned Locust 2.46.7 image with Locust's own web login and a generated admin password, mounts a persistent volume for your test file and publishes it over HTTPS in minutes. It runs as a single process, and the login should go only to people you trust.

What is Locust?

Self-hosted Locust is an open source performance and load testing tool for HTTP and other protocols. Its README says you define tests in regular Python code, run them from the command line or a web-based UI, and watch throughput, response times and errors in real time or export them later. It can change load while a test runs and can test almost any system, the README notes that Azure Load Testing runs Locust tests as a managed service, and Locust itself is under the MIT licence.

On xCloud the template runs the official Locust 2.46.7 image as a single process that is both master and load generator, pinned by immutable digest, with a locust_data volume for your test file. HTTPS is published on your domain with Locust's web login enabled. There are no distributed workers, and live results reset on restart.

From Sign-Up to a Live Locust Install In Just 3 Easy Steps

Self-hosting Locust normally means wiring up its web login, a domain, a certificate and a place to keep your test file before a single load test runs. This is the same result without assembling any of it.

  1. Step 01

Create your xCloud account, pick Locust from the OneClick catalog, choose a domain, and set the admin username (or keep the default admin).

  2. Step 02

    We Deploy It For You

One click. We bring up the pinned Locust 2.46.7 image with its web login enabled, generate the admin password, and publish the web UI over HTTPS on your domain.

  3. Step 03

Sign In And Start A Test

Open the HTTPS Locust URL and sign in. Enter the host to test, the number of users and the spawn rate, then start the test and watch the live charts.

Everything Locust Does, On Your Own Server

Locust's web UI and Python test files run here as a single process, on infrastructure you control.

  • Write Tests As Plain Python

Load tests are plain Python, run straight from the browser against any host you enter in the New Test form.

  • Live Charts While A Test Runs

Watch requests per second, response times and failures update live while a test is in progress.

  • Download Reports After A Run

Export request statistics as CSV and an HTML report once a test finishes.

  • Login Required From The First Request

There's no open web UI — sign in with the username set at install and the generated password before anything is visible.

  • Change Load While A Test Runs

Per the Locust README, you can change the load while a test is running from the web UI.

  • Restart-Safe Test File

Your test file on the locust_data volume and the login survive an xCloud Restart; in-memory live results reset, as they do on any restart.

Everything You Need To Run Your Load Testing 24/7

Managed hosting for Locust, so the parts that keep it online are not your problem.

  • Locust 2.46.7 deployed instantly
  • Login-protected web UI
  • Live request and failure charts
  • Persistent test-file storage
  • Free SSL certificate
  • Server backups and snapshots
  • Server security updates included
  • 30+ server locations
  • Unused balance refunded

What You Can Do With Locust

  • Load test a web service

Write user scenarios in plain Python, start them from the web UI and watch requests per second, response times and failures live.

  • Check a release before launch

Run a test against a staging site you own to see how response times change as the number of simulated users grows.

  • Keep test scripts on a server

Your locustfile and any files beside it sit on a persistent volume, so the same test is ready the next time.

  • Share a runner with your team

Give a trusted colleague the login so they can start and stop tests without installing Locust locally.

Locust vs Alternatives

Azure Load Testing
Azure offers a managed load-testing service that runs Locust tests, as the Locust README notes. As a locust alternative to azure load testing, this template runs one Locust process on your own Cloud VPS, with no managed scaling.
Running Locust locally
Locust runs from the command line on a laptop. A server-hosted instance gives a team a shared web UI and a stable address, but it adds a login you must protect.
Grafana
Grafana is a dashboard platform with its own xCloud template. The Locust README describes sending real-time reporting data to TimescaleDB and visualising it in Grafana through a plugin.
Headless command-line runs
Per its README, Locust can also run without the UI, which suits CI/CD testing. This template serves the web UI with live charts instead, so tests start and stop from the browser.

See why agencies, developers, startups, and growing businesses choose xCloud to power their projects.

xCloud works really well, I am surprised by its performance being this the release version, I have tried many paid platforms such as runcloud, cloudpages or serveravatar, as well as free platforms such as CyberPanel, CloudPanel or Hestia Control Panel and direct competitors such as SpinupWP and FlyWP. Of all those that I have tried, the platform that works best for WordPress is SpinupWP and I believe that xCloud can reach and surpass that development, its roadmap is promising. Congratulations to the xCloud team, I hope they become the leading platform in the segment, it has all the potential to achieve it!
Brian Geovanny
I've been with runcloud for the last 3 years. However, after trying xcloud for the last month, I'm switching over. They are on a roll with their setup.

I'm moving my servers to xCloud, a cloud control panel by M Asif Rahman and the WPDeveloper team. Their roadmap looks interesting and no, there are no team mates nor API limits with xCloud! #xCloud #wordpress #hosting

xCloud isn't just a solution. It's like one of that friend who got your back when you screw things up pretty bad.

Trust me when I say, once people explore the potential of xCloud they gonna switch from other panels, just keep delivering the best tech, lots of love for the team 😍😍

So far my experience has been smooth like silk. I didn't imagine that configuring and managing a VPS would be so easy. As of today, I have deployed 8 sites. The support is good, and they treat users with respect, even if they ask stupid questions (myself included). For the future, I hope for greater flexibility in scheduled backups and more comprehensive and consistent documentation. I'm sure that within a few months, xCloud will become the leader in its segment. This community is amazing, and the Staff here is super helpful.

Came from cloudways then to runcloud then to xcloud. Looks like I'm staying here.
Gerson El
I've recently taken all of my Vultr-hosted sites and gotten rid of cPanel for them to substitute it with xCloud. I have to say, I'm really impressed with xCloud so far! The interface is definitely the standout feature for me.
Tony Lewis
I came from Cloudways and won't go back. Highly impressed with xCloud. Glad I gave them a chance.
Jared McDowell
I like xCloud better than RunCloud, but one thing I'll point out is that some years ago RunCloud was hungry for business, the support was outstanding, and the community was active and helped each other. Maybe it was sold, there was a change in management, or they stopped being hungry, but the quality of the RunCloud offering declined and it hasn't been moving forward quickly. My point is that currently the xCloud team has the edge and it is theirs to keep or lose

Dear xCloud Team, I have been using xCloud for some time now and am genuinely impressed with its capabilities and the flexibility it offers by allowing users to bring their own VPS for management. It's a fantastic service, and my experience so far has been very positive. Successful migrated 5 sites on a single server. Xcloud migration tool worked great. There were few hiccups with security plugin like MalCare but disabling the plugin prior to migration worked just fine.

Frequently Asked Questions

Feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns you may have.

How much RAM does Locust need?

The manifest asks for 256 MB of RAM, 1 CPU core and 2 GB of disk as a floor. Usage during a test grows with the number of simulated users, so the 6 GB Cloud VPS sold on this page leaves comfortable headroom for larger runs.

Is Locust free and open source?

Yes. Locust is MIT licensed, per the LICENSE file at the 2.46.7 tag, so you owe nothing for the software itself, only for the dedicated Cloud VPS, and your test files stay on your own volume.

Can you run Locust with Docker?

Yes, and this is Locust Docker hosting prepared for you: the template runs the official Locust 2.46.7 image as one container, pinned by immutable digest, with a test-file volume and HTTPS, so it works as Locust cloud hosting on your own VPS.

Does Locust have its own login?

Not out of the box. This template enables Locust's web login and supplies the login page, using the username you chose and the generated password from install. There is one login and no roles, and no lockout after failed attempts.

Is it safe to share the Locust login?

Share it only with trusted people. Anyone who signs in can aim load at any address the server can reach, including private ones, so test only systems you own or have permission to test. Basic Authentication at your own proxy is an optional extra layer.

How do I run my own Locust test?

Copy your Python file to /home/locust/locustfile.py in the container and restart the site. The file is kept across restarts and never overwritten; a starter test that sends GET / to the host you enter is installed once, so replace it with yours.

Can I run distributed Locust tests with workers?

Not with this template. Upstream supports distributed tests across machines, but here a single process is both master and load generator, so very large tests need a larger server. Do not plan on adding worker nodes to this install.

Do Locust results survive a restart?

No. The live results in the web UI are held in memory and reset when the site restarts. Only the test file and anything next to it on the data volume persists, so export results with CSV or HTML output if you need them.

What should I back up on a Locust server?

The locust_data volume, which holds your locustfile.py test file, anything placed next to it and any CSV or HTML output. Keep the admin password private, copy the volume off the server, and test a restore if the tests matter to you.

How do I upgrade Locust?

Nothing upgrades it for you: the install stays on pinned release 2.46.7 until you adopt a newer template version. Back up locust_data first, read the upstream release notes, then rerun a short test to check your locustfile still works.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. There is no lock-in — cancel any time. Hosting is billed monthly and charged for what you actually use, so when you delete the server the unused balance is refunded to your account, less up to 10% in payment-processing fees.

Ready to Own Your Load Tests?

Connect your first server in minutes. No plan you have to grow into.
