What is marimo?

marimo is a reactive Python notebook, licensed under Apache 2.0: run a cell or interact with a UI element and marimo automatically runs the dependent cells, or marks them stale, keeping code and outputs consistent. Self-hosted marimo stores notebooks as pure Python files with first-class SQL support, so they work with Git. Upstream positions it as a fix for hidden-state problems in traditional notebooks such as Jupyter and as deployable as scripts or apps.

This template runs marimo 0.24.0 as one CPU-only container behind xCloud's nginx, started in edit mode with marimo's own token gate. The marimo_workspace volume holds every notebook and workspace file under /app. xCloud generates the access token. How much RAM does marimo need?

The template manifest asks for 2048 MB of RAM, 2 CPU cores and 10 GB of disk as a floor, which the 6 GB plan sold here covers. Larger datasets and heavier notebook workloads need more memory, and the image is CPU-only with no GPU access.

How do I update marimo?

marimo does not update itself here: 0.24.0 is pinned by digest, and a catalogue re-sync affects new installs only. Back up marimo_workspace, read the upstream release notes, then recreate the container with a newer pin while keeping the volume, and check your notebooks still open and run.
