What is Mayan EDMS?
Mayan EDMS is a free, open-source document management system for storing, versioning, classifying, searching and automating workflows for documents. This template deploys version 4.12.1.
Is Mayan EDMS free?
Yes — it is free and open source under the Apache License 2.0. What you pay xCloud for is the dedicated server it runs on and the management around it, not the application itself.
Can I self-host Mayan EDMS?
Yes — that is exactly what this template deploys. It brings up the pinned Mayan EDMS 4.12.1 image alongside private PostgreSQL, RabbitMQ and Redis services, all pinned by immutable digest, mounts four persistent volumes and publishes it over HTTPS on your domain in minutes instead of assembled by hand.
How do I sign in for the first time?
With a generated administrator account. The username is fixed as admin — there is no username field to choose at deploy time. xCloud generates a 32-character one-time password shown once in your credential panel. Mayan's own sign-in page also displays that same password in plaintext until you change it, so change it immediately after your first sign-in.
What does xCloud configure automatically?
The generated administrator password, a one-shot setup routine that runs Mayan's own migrations, the private PostgreSQL, RabbitMQ and Redis services, all four persistent volumes, the domain and the HTTPS route. Only the Mayan web interface is published through xCloud-managed ingress.
Is there an upload size limit?
Yes. xCloud's nginx caps proxied requests at 100 MB (client_max_body_size). Mayan itself imposes no smaller limit, so anything larger than 100 MB is rejected by nginx before Mayan receives it.
What should I back up?
All four volumes together, as one application-consistent set: mayan_app (uploaded documents and app-managed files), mayan_postgres (the authoritative relational data), mayan_rabbitmq (queued work) and mayan_redis (task results, locks and event state). Pause uploads and document processing before a coordinated backup.
Can I rotate the database, RabbitMQ or Redis credentials?
Yes, but they must stay synchronized. These credentials initialize their respective data stores on first boot; changing one side (the service itself or the matching Mayan connection value) without the other breaks the connection.
Does xCloud automatically back up or update Mayan EDMS?
No. The template pins Mayan EDMS 4.12.1, PostgreSQL, RabbitMQ and Redis by immutable digest; a catalog re-sync affects new installations only. Review Mayan's release notes and take a coordinated backup before changing any pinned image. PostgreSQL major-version upgrades need a supported database migration, not an image-only change.
What are the server requirements?
The template manifest asks for 4 GB of RAM, two CPU cores and 20 GB of disk as a floor — running Mayan alongside PostgreSQL, RabbitMQ and Redis needs more headroom than a single-container app. This page sells the 16 GB tier per the min_ram_mb rule this site applies to every app.
What survives a restart?
Everything on mayan_app, mayan_postgres, mayan_rabbitmq and mayan_redis, because all four are persistent named volumes. A restart does not touch an uploaded document, its metadata, queued work or the database.
Is xCloud officially partnered with Mayan EDMS?
No. No official partnership or endorsement between xCloud and the Mayan EDMS project has been verified. This is a deployment and server-management option for the open-source Mayan EDMS project.
Can I run other apps on the same server?
Yes. It is a dedicated Cloud VPS, not a locked appliance, so you can deploy other OneClick apps or your own sites beside it as long as the resources are there.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. There is no lock-in — cancel any time. Hosting is billed monthly and charged for what you actually use, so when you delete the server the unused balance is refunded to your account, less up to 10% in payment-processing fees.
