PeerDB Hosting Live In 5 Minutes

PeerDB hosting runs Postgres change data capture on your own domain, a self-hosted way to stream tables into ClickHouse and other targets. Deploy PeerDB v0.37.11 with its web UI, flow workers, Temporal and a catalog database, a generated password and a persistent volume, published over HTTPS in minutes. Your source database must accept connections from this server's IP address, since PeerDB connects outward.

What is PeerDB?

PeerDB is an open-source ETL and replication tool built for Postgres. Upstream describes a fast, simple way to stream data from Postgres to data warehouses, queues and storage engines, with log-based change data capture, a web UI and a Postgres-compatible SQL interface. A self-hosted PeerDB is an alternative to hosted ETL services, with the code under AGPL-3.0, and upstream also offers PeerDB inside ClickHouse Cloud as a separate product.

On xCloud it is PeerDB v0.37.11 with the UI, flow API, workers and server, a Postgres 18 catalog and Temporal, all pinned by digest, with the catalog on the peerdb_catalog_data volume. xCloud generates one password and serves the UI over HTTPS. The template leaves out the MinIO staging store and publishes the SQL port without TLS.

From Sign-Up to a Live PeerDB In Just 3 Easy Steps

A PeerDB stack needs the UI, the flow API and workers, Temporal, a catalog database, generated secrets, a domain and a certificate before the first mirror. This is the same result without assembling any of it.

  1. Step 01

Create your xCloud account and pick PeerDB from the OneClick catalog. Choose your domain and a server with 2 CPU cores or more; the install form has no fields.

  2. Step 02

    We Deploy It For You

One click. We start the PeerDB stable-v0.37.11 services, a Postgres catalog and Temporal, all pinned by digest, generate the password and secrets, mount peerdb_catalog_data and publish the UI over HTTPS. Allow a few minutes.

  3. Step 03

Create A Peer And A Mirror

Sign in with the generated PeerDB password, create a peer for each source and destination, then create a mirror between them. Postgres sources need wal_level=logical and a user with REPLICATION.

Postgres To ClickHouse Replication: PeerDB On Your Own Server

PeerDB runs here as the open-source replication stack, with its catalog on a volume you control.

  • Change Data Capture From Postgres

Log-based CDC streams changes from Postgres as they happen. Upstream recommends CDC and marks cursor and XMIN mirrors as deprecated.

  • ClickHouse As The Target

Mirror Postgres tables into ClickHouse. You supply an S3-compatible staging bucket in the ClickHouse peer, because the template bundles no MinIO.

  • Web UI For Peers And Mirrors

Create peers for each source and destination, then build and watch mirrors from the browser behind one shared password.

  • SQL Interface Over The Postgres Protocol

Manage peers and mirrors with CREATE PEER and CREATE MIRROR from psql 14 or newer. The port is published without TLS, so restrict it.

  • Parallel Initial Load

Upstream parallelises the first load of a large table while keeping it consistent, then moves on to continuous sync.

  • Temporal-Backed Workflows

Mirrors run as Temporal workflows with state management and automatic retries, with Temporal kept private inside the stack.

Everything You Need To Run Your Replication 24/7

Managed hosting for PeerDB, so the parts that keep it online are not your problem.

  • PeerDB v0.37.11 deployed instantly
  • All images pinned by digest
  • Password and secrets generated
  • Catalog and Temporal kept private
  • Free SSL certificate
  • Catalog on a persistent volume
  • Server backups and snapshots
  • 30+ server locations
  • Unused balance refunded

What You Can Do With PeerDB

  • Feed ClickHouse from your Postgres database

Mirror production tables into ClickHouse for analytics, without running queries against the primary.

  • Move a large table without days of waiting

Use the parallel initial load, then keep the target current with continuous CDC.

  • Manage replication from SQL

Script peers and mirrors with CREATE PEER and CREATE MIRROR statements from psql, over an SSH tunnel to the SQL port.

  • Keep pipeline credentials on your own server

Store source and destination connection settings in a catalog you host rather than in a vendor's ETL account.

PeerDB vs Alternatives

Hosted ETL services
As a self-hosted alternative to hosted ETL services, PeerDB keeps the pipeline definitions and catalog on your own server, with Postgres as its focus.
Airbyte
In a PeerDB vs Airbyte comparison, PeerDB is Postgres-first: upstream builds it specifically for moving Postgres data, with log-based CDC and a parallel initial load for large tables.
ClickHouse
ClickHouse has its own OneClick page. It is the usual target for PeerDB mirrors, so you can run both on separate servers.
Temporal
Temporal has its own OneClick page. PeerDB already bundles a private Temporal for its own workflows, so you do not need to deploy it separately.

See why agencies, developers, startups, and growing businesses choose xCloud to power their projects.

xCloud works really well, I am surprised by its performance being this the release version, I have tried many paid platforms such as runcloud, cloudpages or serveravatar, as well as free platforms such as CyberPanel, CloudPanel or Hestia Control Panel and direct competitors such as SpinupWP and FlyWP. Of all those that I have tried, the platform that works best for WordPress is SpinupWP and I believe that xCloud can reach and surpass that development, its roadmap is promising. Congratulations to the xCloud team, I hope they become the leading platform in the segment, it has all the potential to achieve it!
Brian Geovanny
I've been with runcloud for the last 3 years. However, after trying xcloud for the last month, I'm switching over. They are on a roll with their setup.

I'm moving my servers to xCloud, a cloud control panel by M Asif Rahman and the WPDeveloper team. Their roadmap looks interesting and no, there are no team mates nor API limits with xCloud! #xCloud #wordpress #hosting

Trust me when I say, once people explore the potential of xCloud they gonna switch from other panels, just keep delivering the best tech, lots of love for the team 😍😍

So far my experience has been smooth like silk. I didn't imagine that configuring and managing a VPS would be so easy. As of today, I have deployed 8 sites. The support is good, and they treat users with respect, even if they ask stupid questions (myself included). For the future, I hope for greater flexibility in scheduled backups and more comprehensive and consistent documentation. I'm sure that within a few months, xCloud will become the leader in its segment. This community is amazing, and the Staff here is super helpful.

Came from cloudways then to runcloud then to xcloud. Looks like I'm staying here.

I've recently taken all of my Vultr-hosted sites and gotten rid of cPanel for them to substitute it with xCloud. I have to say, I'm really impressed with xCloud so far! The interface is definitely the standout feature for me.
Tony Lewis
I came from Cloudways and won't go back. Highly impressed with xCloud. Glad I gave them a chance.
Jared McDowell
I like xCloud better than RunCloud, but one thing I'll point out is that some years ago RunCloud was hungry for business, the support was outstanding, and the community was active and helped each other. Maybe it was sold, there was a change in management, or they stopped being hungry, but the quality of the RunCloud offering declined and it hasn't been moving forward quickly. My point is that currently the xCloud team has the edge and it is theirs to keep or lose

Dear xCloud Team, I have been using xCloud for some time now and am genuinely impressed with its capabilities and the flexibility it offers by allowing users to bring their own VPS for management. It's a fantastic service, and my experience so far has been very positive. Successful migrated 5 sites on a single server. Xcloud migration tool worked great. There were few hiccups with security plugin like MalCare but disabling the plugin prior to migration worked just fine.

Frequently Asked Questions

Feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns you may have.

How do I replicate Postgres to ClickHouse with PeerDB?

Sign in, create a Postgres peer and a ClickHouse peer, then create a CDC mirror between them. The ClickHouse peer needs an S3-compatible staging bucket, with its path and keys, because PeerDB stages data there before loading.

What does my Postgres source need for PeerDB CDC?

The source needs wal_level=logical, a user with the REPLICATION attribute, and enough max_replication_slots and max_wal_senders. It must also accept connections from this server's IP address, because PeerDB connects outward and needs no inbound ports for replication.

Can you self-host PeerDB with Docker?

Yes. Upstream runs as Docker containers, and this template is PeerDB Docker hosting without the setup: the UI, flow services, Postgres catalog and Temporal pinned by digest, one volume and HTTPS on your own domain, so you never write a Compose file.

How much RAM does PeerDB need?

The manifest asks for 1024 MB of RAM, 2 CPU cores and 10 GB of disk; about 550 MiB was in use with a peer and a running mirror. Memory grows with the number and size of mirrors.

Is the PeerDB SQL port secure?

Not by itself. The port speaks the Postgres protocol without TLS, so the password and queries cross the network unencrypted, and xCloud opens no firewall for it. Restrict it to trusted IPs, or use an SSH tunnel instead.

Does PeerDB have user accounts?

No. One generated PeerDB password is the only login for the web UI and the SQL endpoint. Anyone with it can add sources and destinations, see stored connection settings and run mirrors, so share it only with people you trust.

Is PeerDB open source?

Yes. PeerDB carries the AGPL-3.0 licence, so the code costs nothing to run. You pay only for the Cloud VPS, which makes this a PeerDB cloud of your own rather than a hosted pipeline account, and the source stays under your control.

How do I back up PeerDB?

Back up the peerdb_catalog_data volume, which holds the catalog of peers, mirrors and mirror state plus Temporal's workflow history. Stop the stack first, or use pg_dump for an online copy. Losing it removes every peer and mirror.

How do I upgrade PeerDB?

The install stays on its pinned stable-v0.37.11 images until you adopt a newer template version. Back up peerdb_catalog_data and read the upstream release notes first, because catalog migrations that run on start are not reversible, and nothing upgrades automatically.

Which PeerDB targets does the template support?

ClickHouse is the target this page recommends, because upstream marks Snowflake, BigQuery, Kafka, Elasticsearch, Event Hubs, Pub/Sub and S3 destinations as deprecated, though they still function. You can set PEERDB_ALLOWED_TARGETS=clickhouse in the Environment editor to offer ClickHouse only.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. There is no lock-in — cancel any time. Hosting is billed monthly and charged for what you actually use, so when you delete the server the unused balance is refunded to your account, less up to 10% in payment-processing fees.
