What is pgAdmin?

pgAdmin is the official open-source, web-based administration interface for PostgreSQL. It lets you register servers, browse objects, run queries and manage roles from a browser instead of a terminal. This template deploys version 9.17.

Does this include a PostgreSQL server?

No. This template deploys pgAdmin only — no PostgreSQL database is created, hosted or bundled in. You register your own PostgreSQL server, wherever it runs, once pgAdmin is live.

Can I self-host pgAdmin with xCloud?

Yes — that is what this is. Self-hosting normally means a container, a reverse proxy, a certificate and an administrator account you set up yourself. On xCloud, pgAdmin is a OneClick app: the server, domain and SSL are provisioned for you.

Is the pgAdmin port exposed to the internet?

No. The container's own port stays bound to localhost; xCloud's nginx front is what's public, over HTTPS with a certificate issued and renewed for you.

How do I connect my own PostgreSQL server?

Sign in to pgAdmin and choose Register Server. Enter its hostname, port, maintenance database, username and password, and the TLS mode it expects — then confirm the database is reachable from your xCloud server.

What are the server requirements?

The template manifest asks for 512 MB of RAM, 1 CPU core and 2 GB of disk as a floor — an eligibility minimum, not a production size. This page sells the 6 GB tier, comfortably above that, with room for more registered servers and larger result sets.

Where is my data stored?

pgAdmin's own state — registered server definitions, preferences and sessions — lives under /var/lib/pgadmin on a persistent named volume that survives a restart. It does not hold the data inside the PostgreSQL servers you connect to.

What should I back up?

The pgadmin_data volume covers pgAdmin's own configuration and registered servers. Each PostgreSQL server you connect to needs its own separate, database-aware backup plan — this volume isn't a substitute for that.

Does xCloud manage my PostgreSQL database?

No. xCloud deploys and operates the pgAdmin server boundary — the customer owns PostgreSQL access, database credentials, pgAdmin user administration, backups and restore testing.

Does xCloud automatically upgrade pgAdmin?

No. New installs are pinned to 9.17 by an immutable image digest. Before an intentional update, back up the persistent volume, review pgAdmin's release notes, and recreate the container without deleting it.

Is xCloud an official pgAdmin partner?

No. No official partnership or endorsement between xCloud and pgAdmin is claimed. This is a deployment and server-management option for the official open-source pgAdmin app.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. There is no lock-in — cancel any time. Hosting is billed monthly and charged for what you actually use, so when you delete the server the unused balance is refunded to your account, less up to 10% in payment-processing fees.
