Rauthy Hosting Live In 5 Minutes

Rauthy hosting gives you your own single sign-on server on your own domain. xCloud runs the pinned Rauthy 0.37.1 image, generates the administrator password and the encryption secrets, keeps the embedded database on a persistent volume and publishes the admin UI and OpenID Connect endpoints over HTTPS — no separate database service to run.

What is Rauthy?

Rauthy is an OpenID Connect and OAuth 2.0 identity provider written in Rust, built to be lightweight and to put passkeys first. It handles sign-in, sessions and token issuing for the other applications you run, so each of them does not need its own user table.

Rauthy keeps its data in an embedded database, comes with an admin UI for users, clients, roles, groups and events, and is released under the Apache-2.0 licence.

From Sign-Up to a Live Identity Provider In 3 Easy Steps

A self-hosted identity provider normally means a container, secrets that must never change, a volume, a domain and a certificate before the first client exists. This is the same result without assembling any of it.

  1. Step 01

Create your xCloud account and pick Rauthy from the OneClick catalog. Choose your domain and target server, then enter the email address of the first administrator.

  2. Step 02

    We Deploy It For You

One click. We bring up the official Rauthy image pinned by immutable digest next to a tiny BusyBox container that only probes its health endpoint, mount the rauthy_data volume, generate the administrator password and the encryption and cluster secrets, and publish it over HTTPS on your domain.

  3. Step 03

Register A Passkey, Add A Client

Open the HTTPS admin URL and sign in with your email and the generated password. Rauthy asks you to register a passkey on your account page; log out, sign in with password and passkey, then create an OIDC client for your first app under Clients.

Everything Rauthy Does, On Your Own Server

Rauthy runs in full here: an OpenID Connect and OAuth 2.0 provider with an admin UI, on your own domain, with its data on your own volume.

  • OpenID Connect And OAuth 2.0

Single sign-on for the apps you host: register each one as a client and let Rauthy issue the tokens.

  • Passkeys And Passwords

Users can sign in with a password or a passkey, and administrator accounts are required to use a passkey.

  • Admin UI

Manage users, clients, roles, groups and events from one interface, including sessions, scopes and API keys.

  • Embedded Database

Data lives in an embedded database on the rauthy_data volume, so there is no separate database service to provision or secure.

  • Small Footprint

The template asks for 128 MB of RAM and measured use in QA was about 33 MiB, so it fits easily beside your other apps.

  • Optional Email

Outgoing email is not configured by default; add the SMTP variables in the Environment editor to enable password reset and invitations.

Everything You Need To Run Your Identity Provider 24/7

Managed hosting for Rauthy, so the parts that keep it online are not your problem.

  • Rauthy 0.37.1 deployed instantly
  • Official image pinned by digest
  • Administrator password generated for you
  • Kept behind xCloud nginx
  • Free SSL certificate
  • Server backups and snapshots
  • Server security updates included
  • 30+ server locations
  • Unused balance refunded

What You Can Do With Rauthy

  • One sign-in for your self-hosted apps

Register each app as an OIDC client and let people sign in once instead of keeping a separate account in every tool.

  • Passkey sign-in for a team

Move a small team from passwords alone to passkeys, with administrators required to register one before the admin UI opens.

  • Role and group based access

Organise users into roles and groups and restrict a client to a login group prefix, so only matching users can reach an app.

  • An identity server with no database to run

Run single sign-on from a single small container and a volume, instead of operating a separate database service for your identity data.

Rauthy vs Alternatives

Keycloak
A widely used open-source identity and access management server; it is a larger Java application, where Rauthy is a small Rust service with an embedded database.
Authelia
An authentication and authorization server that sits in front of apps, often used with a reverse proxy; Rauthy is a full OpenID Connect provider with its own admin UI.
Zitadel
An open-source identity platform with a hosted cloud and a self-hosted edition; Rauthy is a smaller single-purpose OIDC provider.
Auth0
A hosted identity service billed by the vendor; with Rauthy the identity server, its users and its data sit on a server you control.

See why agencies, developers, startups, and growing businesses choose xCloud to power their projects.

xCloud works really well, I am surprised by its performance being this the release version, I have tried many paid platforms such as runcloud, cloudpages or serveravatar, as well as free platforms such as CyberPanel, CloudPanel or Hestia Control Panel and direct competitors such as SpinupWP and FlyWP. Of all those that I have tried, the platform that works best for WordPress is SpinupWP and I believe that xCloud can reach and surpass that development, its roadmap is promising. Congratulations to the xCloud team, I hope they become the leading platform in the segment, it has all the potential to achieve it!

I've been with runcloud for the last 3 years. However, after trying xcloud for the last month, I'm switching over. They are on a roll with their setup.

I'm moving my servers to xCloud, a cloud control panel by M Asif Rahman and the WPDeveloper team. Their roadmap looks interesting and no, there are no team mates nor API limits with xCloud! #xCloud #wordpress #hosting

xCloud is like having an expert server team on call — without the big agency costs. It's given me back my time and given my clients peace of mind. Highly recommended for freelancers and small teams who want reliable performance and security.

xCloud isn't just a solution. It's like one of that friend who got your back when you screw things up pretty bad.

Trust me when I say, once people explore the potential of xCloud they gonna switch from other panels, just keep delivering the best tech, lots of love for the team 😍😍

So far my experience has been smooth like silk. I didn't imagine that configuring and managing a VPS would be so easy. As of today, I have deployed 8 sites. The support is good, and they treat users with respect, even if they ask stupid questions (myself included). For the future, I hope for greater flexibility in scheduled backups and more comprehensive and consistent documentation. I'm sure that within a few months, xCloud will become the leader in its segment. This community is amazing, and the Staff here is super helpful.

Came from cloudways then to runcloud then to xcloud. Looks like I'm staying here.
Gerson El
I've recently taken all of my Vultr-hosted sites and gotten rid of cPanel for them to substitute it with xCloud. I have to say, I'm really impressed with xCloud so far! The interface is definitely the standout feature for me.
Tony Lewis
I came from Cloudways and won't go back. Highly impressed with xCloud. Glad I gave them a chance.
Jared McDowell
I like xCloud better than RunCloud, but one thing I'll point out is that some years ago RunCloud was hungry for business, the support was outstanding, and the community was active and helped each other. Maybe it was sold, there was a change in management, or they stopped being hungry, but the quality of the RunCloud offering declined and it hasn't been moving forward quickly. My point is that currently the xCloud team has the edge and it is theirs to keep or lose

Dear xCloud Team, I have been using xCloud for some time now and am genuinely impressed with its capabilities and the flexibility it offers by allowing users to bring their own VPS for management. It's a fantastic service, and my experience so far has been very positive. Successful migrated 5 sites on a single server. Xcloud migration tool worked great. There were few hiccups with security plugin like MalCare but disabling the plugin prior to migration worked just fine.

Frequently Asked Questions

Feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns you may have.

How do I sign in the first time?

Open the HTTPS admin URL and sign in with the administrator email you entered and the generated password. Rauthy then asks you to register a passkey on your account page; log out and sign in again with the password and the passkey to open the admin UI.

Do I have to use a passkey?

Administrator accounts are required to use a passkey before the admin UI opens. Other users can sign in with a password or a passkey.

Does it need a separate database?

No. Rauthy uses an embedded database stored in the persistent rauthy_data volume.

What runs alongside Rauthy?

Only a tiny BusyBox container that probes Rauthy's health endpoint. It has no host ports.

Can Rauthy send password reset and invitation emails?

Not out of the box: outgoing email is not configured by default. Add the SMTP_URL, SMTP_USERNAME, SMTP_PASSWORD and SMTP_FROM variables in the Environment editor and redeploy to enable password reset and invitations.

What should I back up?

The rauthy_data volume, and the generated encryption and cluster secrets: data encrypted with them cannot be read without them. Do not edit those secrets in the Environment editor.

What happens if I change the domain?

Passkeys are bound to the domain, so changing the domain invalidates registered passkeys. RP_ID and PUB_URL are tied to the domain as well.

Should I change the generated password?

Yes, change it after the first sign-in. The bootstrap email and password variables are only used the first time Rauthy starts with an empty database, so editing them later does not change the administrator; change the password inside Rauthy.

Does xCloud automatically back up or update Rauthy?

No. The template pins Rauthy 0.37.1 by immutable digest; new installations use the pinned release, existing sites are not automatically upgraded. Back up first, read the upstream release notes, then bump the readable tag and digest together on your own schedule, as migrations can be one-way. Server-level backups and snapshots are available on every Cloud VPS.

What are the server requirements, and why does this page sell 6 GB?

The template's baseline asks for 1 CPU core, 128 MB of RAM and 2 GB of disk; measured use in QA was about 33 MiB. This page sells the 6 GB tier as the entry rung, which leaves room for the apps you will connect to it.

What survives a restart?

Users, OIDC clients and passkeys stay in place after an xCloud Restart in QA, because they live on the persistent rauthy_data volume.

Is xCloud officially partnered with Rauthy?

No. No official partnership or endorsement between xCloud and the Rauthy project has been verified. This is a deployment and server-management option for the open-source Rauthy project.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. There is no lock-in — cancel any time. Hosting is billed monthly and charged for what you actually use, so when you delete the server the unused balance is refunded to your account, less up to 10% in payment-processing fees.
