Tela Hosting Live In 5 Minutes

Deploy Tela hosting and give your team a private wiki and documentation workspace on your own domain. xCloud installs the pinned Tela 0.8.0 stack of six containers, creates the first administrator from the email you enter, keeps PostgreSQL and the other back-end services off the public internet, mounts persistent volumes and publishes the site over HTTPS in minutes.

What is Tela?

Tela is an open-source, self-hostable team wiki. Pages are written in Markdown inside spaces, and upstream pairs a Go and PostgreSQL back end with a browser editor and a built-in Model Context Protocol (MCP) endpoint, so people and agents work from the same knowledge base.

On xCloud it runs as a six-container stack on your own server: the pages, users and attachments live in a PostgreSQL volume you control, and only the web interface is published over HTTPS.

From Sign-Up to a Live Wiki In Just 3 Easy Steps

A Tela stack normally means six containers, a pgvector database, generated secrets, volumes, a domain and a certificate before the first page. This is the same result without assembling any of it.

  1. Step 01

Create your xCloud account and pick Tela from the OneClick catalog. Choose your domain and target server, then enter the Admin Email and an Admin Password of 12 to 64 characters, or leave it empty to have one generated.

  2. Step 02

    We Deploy It For You

One click. We bring up Tela with its pgvector PostgreSQL database, backend, frontend, Gotenberg PDF renderer and slide-deck service on a private network, keep them off the public internet, mount the tela_pgdata and tela_deckcache volumes, generate the database password and signing secrets, and publish the Caddy proxy over HTTPS on your domain.

  3. Step 03

    Sign In And Close Registration

Open your HTTPS Tela URL and sign in as admin with the generated password, allowing a few minutes on first boot for migrations. Before you share the address, open Settings, Instance and switch off self-registration, which is on by default.

Everything Tela Does, On Your Own Server

Tela runs in full here: spaces, Markdown pages and exports on your own domain, with the data in a database you own.

  • Spaces And Markdown Pages

Keep team documentation in spaces and write pages in Markdown. Page bodies are stored as Markdown, not in a proprietary block format.

  • PDF, Markdown And Slide Decks

Export pages to PDF or Markdown, and build slide decks from a page that export to PDF and PPTX.

  • Share Links And Public Spaces

Share a page through a share link, or publish a space for readers who have no account.

  • WebDAV, MCP And Access Tokens

Sync with WebDAV clients, and let agents search, read and write through the built-in MCP endpoint using personal access tokens.

  • Full-Text Search Built In

Full-text search works out of the box. Semantic search and ask-your-docs are optional and need an embedding endpoint and a chat endpoint.

  • Live Collaboration

Upstream describes real-time multi-cursor editing, comments, backlinks and revision history in the browser editor.

Everything You Need To Run Your Wiki 24/7

  • Tela 0.8.0 deployed instantly
  • All six images pinned by digest
  • Admin account created at install
  • Back-end services kept private
  • Free SSL certificate
  • Server backups and snapshots
  • Server security updates included

What You Can Do With Tela

  • Keep team documentation private

Hold runbooks, handbooks and project notes in spaces on a server you control instead of a hosted wiki service.

  • Turn pages into PDFs and decks

Export a page to PDF or Markdown, or write a slide deck in Markdown and export it to PDF or PPTX.

  • Share a page without an account

Send a share link for a single page, or publish a whole space for readers who should not need to register.

  • Connect agents and local tools

Point an MCP client at the built-in endpoint with a personal access token, or sync pages with a WebDAV client.

See why agencies, developers, startups, and growing businesses choose xCloud to power their projects.

xCloud works really well, I am surprised by its performance being this the release version, I have tried many paid platforms such as runcloud, cloudpages or serveravatar, as well as free platforms such as CyberPanel, CloudPanel or Hestia Control Panel and direct competitors such as SpinupWP and FlyWP. Of all those that I have tried, the platform that works best for WordPress is SpinupWP and I believe that xCloud can reach and surpass that development, its roadmap is promising. Congratulations to the xCloud team, I hope they become the leading platform in the segment, it has all the potential to achieve it!

I've been with runcloud for the last 3 years. However, after trying xcloud for the last month, I'm switching over. They are on a roll with their setup.

I'm moving my servers to xCloud, a cloud control panel by M Asif Rahman and the WPDeveloper team. Their roadmap looks interesting and no, there are no team mates nor API limits with xCloud! #xCloud #wordpress #hosting

xCloud is like having an expert server team on call — without the big agency costs. It's given me back my time and given my clients peace of mind. Highly recommended for freelancers and small teams who want reliable performance and security.

xCloud isn't just a solution. It's like one of that friend who got your back when you screw things up pretty bad.

Trust me when I say, once people explore the potential of xCloud they gonna switch from other panels, just keep delivering the best tech, lots of love for the team 😍😍

So far my experience has been smooth like silk. I didn't imagine that configuring and managing a VPS would be so easy. As of today, I have deployed 8 sites. The support is good, and they treat users with respect, even if they ask stupid questions (myself included). For the future, I hope for greater flexibility in scheduled backups and more comprehensive and consistent documentation. I'm sure that within a few months, xCloud will become the leader in its segment. This community is amazing, and the Staff here is super helpful.

Came from cloudways then to runcloud then to xcloud. Looks like I'm staying here.

I've recently taken all of my Vultr-hosted sites and gotten rid of cPanel for them to substitute it with xCloud. I have to say, I'm really impressed with xCloud so far! The interface is definitely the standout feature for me.
Tony Lewis
I came from Cloudways and won't go back. Highly impressed with xCloud. Glad I gave them a chance.
Jared McDowell
I like xCloud better than RunCloud, but one thing I'll point out is that some years ago RunCloud was hungry for business, the support was outstanding, and the community was active and helped each other. Maybe it was sold, there was a change in management, or they stopped being hungry, but the quality of the RunCloud offering declined and it hasn't been moving forward quickly. My point is that currently the xCloud team has the edge and it is theirs to keep or lose

Dear xCloud Team, I have been using xCloud for some time now and am genuinely impressed with its capabilities and the flexibility it offers by allowing users to bring their own VPS for management. It's a fantastic service, and my experience so far has been very positive. Successful migrated 5 sites on a single server. Xcloud migration tool worked great. There were few hiccups with security plugin like MalCare but disabling the plugin prior to migration worked just fine.

Frequently Asked Questions

Feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns you may have.

Is Tela a hosted service, or does it run on my own xCloud server?

It runs on your own xCloud server, as a six-container stack that xCloud installs on a private network. Only the web interface is published through HTTPS on your domain.

How do I sign in for the first time?

Sign in at your Tela URL as admin, or with the admin email, using the admin password shown in the installation credentials. The admin account is created at install, so there is no setup wizard to finish.

Can I let people sign up on their own?

Yes, but self-registration is on by default and Tela has no environment variable for it. Turn it off in Settings, Instance before you share the address. Existing accounts keep working, and you can add people yourself.

Does Tela need an AI service or a mail server?

No. Full-text search works without them. Semantic search and ask-your-docs need an embedding endpoint and a chat endpoint. No mail server is configured by default, so verification and password-reset emails go to the backend log until you add the TELA_SMTP_* keys.

What should I back up?

The tela_pgdata volume, which holds your pages, users and attachments, together with the stable .env values (TELA_PG_PASSWORD, TELA_SHARE_SECRET, TELA_API_KEY_SECRET and the TELA_ADMIN_* values). The tela_deckcache volume only holds the slide render cache and can be rebuilt.

Can I rotate the share and API secrets?

Not casually. Rotating TELA_SHARE_SECRET signs out share-link visitors, and rotating TELA_API_KEY_SECRET revokes every personal access token.

Who should be allowed to edit slide decks?

Only people you trust. The slide-deck sidecar compiles deck Markdown as code, so give editing access accordingly.

What survives a restart?

Pages, users, decks and attachments. In QA, a restart of all six containers kept an existing doc and deck, and the deck PDF re-rendered identically, because the data sits on a persistent named volume.

Does xCloud automatically back up or update Tela?

No. The template pins Tela 0.8.0 by immutable digest; new installations use the pinned release, existing sites are not automatically upgraded. Back up first, read the upstream release notes, then bump the readable tag and digest together on your own schedule. Server-level backups and snapshots are available on every Cloud VPS.

What are the server requirements, and why does this page sell 6 GB?

The template's baseline asks for 2 CPU cores, 2048 MB of RAM and 15 GB of disk. Idle use in QA was about 95 MB across the six containers, rising to about 792 MB after a PDF and PPTX round-trip, so plan for the peak rather than the idle figure. This page sells the 6 GB tier as the entry rung, with real headroom above that baseline.

Is xCloud officially partnered with Tela?

No. No official partnership or endorsement between xCloud and the Tela project has been verified. This is a deployment and server-management option for the open-source Tela project.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. There is no lock-in — cancel any time. Hosting is billed monthly and charged for what you actually use, so when you delete the server the unused balance is refunded to your account, less up to 10% in payment-processing fees.
