What is Weblate?
Weblate is an open-source, self-hosted continuous-localization platform for software translation — projects and components connected to version-control workflows, with a browser-based workspace for translators and reviewers. This template deploys version 2026.9.1.
Is Weblate free?
Yes — Weblate is free and open source under the GPL-3.0-or-later licence, and this template uses the official upstream container image. What you pay xCloud for is the dedicated server it runs on and the management around it, not the software itself.
Can I self-host Weblate?
Yes — that is exactly what this template deploys. It brings up the official Weblate image, provisions private PostgreSQL and Valkey services, generates an administrator credential, and publishes it over HTTPS on your domain in minutes instead of assembled by hand.
Who becomes the administrator, and how do I sign in?
xCloud generates a password for the admin account and shows it in the Credentials panel. Open the generated Weblate URL, sign in as admin with that password, and rotate it after your first sign-in.
Is public registration enabled by default?
No. Public registration is disabled by default. Only the accounts you create — or explicitly enable registration for — can sign in, keeping the installation closed until you choose otherwise.
What does xCloud configure automatically?
The official Weblate image, private PostgreSQL and Valkey services, a generated administrator password, persistent storage, the domain and the HTTPS route. The baseline template publishes no PostgreSQL or Valkey host ports — only the Weblate interface and API are exposed through HTTPS.
What should I back up?
weblate_data, weblate_cache, weblate_postgres_data and weblate_valkey_data together, as one application-consistent set — not any single volume on its own. Stop or quiesce writes and background jobs before backing up, keep a verified copy off-server, and test restoration in an isolated installation.
Does xCloud automatically back up or update Weblate?
No. The template pins the Weblate image; a catalog re-sync affects new installations only. Review upstream release and upgrade guidance first — an image downgrade alone does not reverse database migrations — and take a full backup of all four volumes before changing the pinned image.
What are the server requirements, and why does this page sell 6 GB?
The template's own starting requirement is 2 CPU cores, 4 GiB RAM and 20 GiB disk — higher than many OneClick apps here. This page still sells the 6 GB tier as the entry rung, matching the product encoded in the template's Purchase URL, but repository count, translation-memory size, uploads and concurrent background work can all push real usage above that floor faster than on a lighter app.
What survives a restart?
Everything on weblate_data, weblate_cache, weblate_postgres_data and weblate_valkey_data, because each is a persistent named volume. An xCloud Restart does not touch your projects, translations, repositories, uploads or queued background work.
Does an image downgrade undo a bad upgrade?
Not on its own. Weblate's database migrations are one-directional, so review upstream release and upgrade guidance carefully, and take a verified backup before changing the pinned image in either direction.
Is xCloud officially partnered with Weblate?
No. No official partnership or endorsement between xCloud and the Weblate project has been verified. This is a deployment and server-management option for the open-source Weblate project.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. There is no lock-in — cancel any time. Hosting is billed monthly and charged for what you actually use, so when you delete the server the unused balance is refunded to your account, less up to 10% in payment-processing fees.
