AdventureLog Hosting Live In 5 Minutes
Deploy AdventureLog hosting and run a self-hosted travel tracker and trip planner on your own domain. xCloud runs the pinned frontend and backend with a private PostGIS database, generates the Django secret and the first administrator login, turns public registration off and publishes the app over HTTPS. Log where you have been on the world map, plan itineraries day by day and share trips, with every photo and note on a server you control.

What is AdventureLog?
AdventureLog is an open-source, self-hosted travel tracker and trip planner, built with a SvelteKit client and a Django backend on PostGIS. Run as self-hosted AdventureLog, it keeps your travel record in one app: a world map of locations you have visited, a world travel book of countries and regions, itineraries with flight details, notes and checklists, and sharing by public link or directly with other users. It is licensed under GPL-3.0.
On xCloud the template deploys AdventureLog v0.12.1 as pinned frontend and backend images, a PostGIS 15 database that publishes no port, and an nginx sidecar that routes the public origin to the right container. Two named volumes hold the database and the uploaded media. You own the instance, the accounts and every adventure stored in it.
From Sign-Up to a Live AdventureLog In Just 3 Easy Steps
A travel journal on your own server usually means a frontend, a backend, a PostGIS database, secrets, a domain and a certificate before the first trip is logged. This skips all of it.
Step 01
Sign Up
Create your xCloud account and pick AdventureLog from the OneClick catalog. Choose your domain and target server; the install form has no other fields to fill in.
Step 02
We Deploy It For You
One click. We bring up the v0.12.1 frontend and backend, a private PostGIS 15 database and the nginx sidecar, mount the adventurelog_db and adventurelog_media volumes, generate the secrets and publish HTTPS on your domain.
Step 03
Log Your First Adventure
Open your domain, select Log in and use the generated administrator credentials shown in xCloud. Then create your first adventure or collection and invite other users from inside AdventureLog.
Everything AdventureLog Does, On Your Own Server
AdventureLog runs here with its map, travel book and itinerary planner, and every record lives in a database on your own server.
Interactive World Map
See every location on a map, filter by visit status and add new ones by clicking the map. A satellite view shows your places in 3D.
World Travel Book
Track the countries and regions you have visited and the ones you plan to, with a region map to pick them from.
Day-By-Day Itineraries
Build trips for any number of days with several destinations, flight information, notes, checklists and links, then view them as a list, a map or a calendar.
Shared Collections
Share locations and itineraries through a public link or directly with other AdventureLog users, and let collaborators edit a shared trip.
Categories And Privacy
Sort locations into your own categories and mark each one private or public, so you decide which memories anyone else can see.
Trails And Activities
Attach trails and activities to a location to keep detailed maps and stats of a hike or ride next to the place you logged.

What You Can Do With AdventureLog
Track countries visited, world map included
Add each place you have been, mark it visited, and watch the world travel book fill in countries and regions. A solo traveller gets one private page of travel stats instead of a spreadsheet.
Plan a group trip together
Create a collection, add days, destinations, flights and checklists, then share it with the friends you are travelling with. Collaborators edit the same itinerary instead of passing around a document.
Keep a private journal with photos
Write up a trip with dates, ratings and descriptions, attach uploaded images, and mark entries private. The photos stay in the media volume on your server rather than a social network.
Share a finished trip with family
Send a public link to a location or itinerary so relatives can follow the route and the stops without making an account. Switch the entry back to private whenever you like.
Log hikes and rides with their trails
Upload a trail or activity to the location where it happened, so an outdoor trip keeps its route and stats beside the notes you wrote about it.
AdventureLog vs Alternatives
- Wanderlog
- Compared with Wanderlog, AdventureLog covers itineraries with flights, notes and checklists shared with collaborators, but runs on your own server, so the trips and photos are stored in a database you own.
- TripIt
- Compared with TripIt, AdventureLog keeps the planning, the visited-countries record and the journal in a single open-source app that you host, with registration closed and accounts you create yourself.
- Wanderer
- AdventureLog logs places, countries and itineraries rather than trails alone, and its Wanderer integration imports trails from your Wanderer instance into a location.
- Traccar
- AdventureLog is a journal and planner for trips you log yourself, not a live tracker of moving devices.

xCloud works really well, I am surprised by its performance being this the release version, I have tried many paid platforms such as runcloud, cloudpages or serveravatar, as well as free platforms such as CyberPanel, CloudPanel or Hestia Control Panel and direct competitors such as SpinupWP and FlyWP. Of all those that I have tried, the platform that works best for WordPress is SpinupWP and I believe that xCloud can reach and surpass that development, its roadmap is promising. Congratulations to the xCloud team, I hope they become the leading platform in the segment, it has all the potential to achieve it!
Brian GeovannyI've been with runcloud for the last 3 years. However, after trying xcloud for the last month, I'm switching over. They are on a roll with their setup.
Kevin PinedaI'm moving my servers to xCloud, a cloud control panel by M Asif Rahman and the WPDeveloper team. Their roadmap looks interesting and no, there are no team mates nor API limits with xCloud! #xCloud #wordpress #hosting
Leo KooHow Cloud Nine Web Elevated Client Experience While Streamlining Hosting Operations using xCloud
Ed EllinghamxCloud is like having an expert server team on call — without the big agency costs. It's given me back my time and given my clients peace of mind. Highly recommended for freelancers and small teams who want reliable performance and security.
Dumitru ButucelxCloud isn't just a solution. It's like one of that friend who got your back when you screw things up pretty bad.
Waqar AhmedTrust me when I say, once people explore the potential of xCloud they gonna switch from other panels, just keep delivering the best tech, lots of love for the team 😍😍
Rahul SinghSo far my experience has been smooth like silk. I didn't imagine that configuring and managing a VPS would be so easy. As of today, I have deployed 8 sites. The support is good, and they treat users with respect, even if they ask stupid questions (myself included). For the future, I hope for greater flexibility in scheduled backups and more comprehensive and consistent documentation. I'm sure that within a few months, xCloud will become the leader in its segment. This community is amazing, and the Staff here is super helpful.
Massimo VillaCame from cloudways then to runcloud then to xcloud. Looks like I'm staying here.
Gerson ElI've recently taken all of my Vultr-hosted sites and gotten rid of cPanel for them to substitute it with xCloud. I have to say, I'm really impressed with xCloud so far! The interface is definitely the standout feature for me.
Tony LewisI came from Cloudways and won't go back. Highly impressed with xCloud. Glad I gave them a chance.
Jared McDowellI like xCloud better than RunCloud, but one thing I'll point out is that some years ago RunCloud was hungry for business, the support was outstanding, and the community was active and helped each other. Maybe it was sold, there was a change in management, or they stopped being hungry, but the quality of the RunCloud offering declined and it hasn't been moving forward quickly. My point is that currently the xCloud team has the edge and it is theirs to keep or lose
David McCanHow Kevin Heinrichs Cut Hosting Costs by 84% While Running WooCommerce & Node.js Sites Efficiently
Kevin HeinrichsI had 150 sites on cloudways and am in the process of moving them to xcloud. Much faster and better priced.
Dan SpinozaDear xCloud Team, I have been using xCloud for some time now and am genuinely impressed with its capabilities and the flexibility it offers by allowing users to bring their own VPS for management. It's a fantastic service, and my experience so far has been very positive. Successful migrated 5 sites on a single server. Xcloud migration tool worked great. There were few hiccups with security plugin like MalCare but disabling the plugin prior to migration worked just fine.
Rahil MaknojiaCame from runcloud. Tried xcloud and never came back.
Karl FanegaHow Advanced Web Strategies Saved Over $2,000 & Recovered 56 Hours per Month Managing 70+ Client Websites
Gary MoodyxCloud gave me what no other hosting platform could: the flexibility of a VPS with the convenience of managed WordPress. As a solo founder running an entire business on one server, that combination is an important unfair advantage.
Jorge de los Reyes MartínezI use Server Avatar and xCloud and I'll sooner use xCloud than Server Avatar personally.

Blaine MooreFrequently Asked Questions
Feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns you may have.
Can I plan trips and itineraries in AdventureLog?
Yes. Itineraries can span any number of days with several destinations, and carry flight information, notes, checklists and links. You can view a trip as a list, on a map or in a calendar, and share it with collaborators who can edit it.
Does AdventureLog have a map of places I have visited?
Yes. Every location appears on an interactive map you can filter by visit status, and you can add new ones by clicking the map. A separate world travel book lists the countries and regions you have visited or plan to visit.
Can several people share a trip in AdventureLog?
Yes. Locations and itineraries can be shared by public link or directly with other AdventureLog users, and collaborators can edit a shared collection. Public registration is off in this template, so you invite those users from inside AdventureLog.
Does AdventureLog need a map API key?
Not in this template. The install form asks for nothing, and optional integrations such as Google Maps, Strava, Immich, SMTP and analytics are intentionally left out, so the world map works as deployed. Upstream's client draws maps with Svelte MapLibre.
Can I self-host AdventureLog with Docker?
Yes, and this template is that setup done for you: AdventureLog Docker hosting with pinned frontend and backend images, a PostGIS 15 database that publishes no port, and an nginx sidecar. Only the proxy port is bound to 127.0.0.1, behind xCloud's HTTPS.
What does AdventureLog cloud hosting on xCloud include?
A dedicated Cloud VPS that we provision, patch and monitor, with the AdventureLog stack deployed, HTTPS on your domain and a generated administrator login. The application and every adventure in it belong to you, and you can run other apps on the same server.
How much RAM does AdventureLog need?
The template's catalog minimum is 2048 MB of RAM, 2 CPU cores and 10 GB of disk. The 6 GB plan clears that for the frontend, backend, PostGIS and nginx. Disk use grows with uploaded images in adventurelog_media, so watch it on a photo-heavy journal.
How do I update AdventureLog?
Images are pinned to v0.12.1 by digest, and existing sites stay on their installation snapshot; nothing upgrades itself. Before moving up, back up both volumes, read AdventureLog's release and migration notes, then recreate with the volume names unchanged and check a login and an adventure.
Which volumes should I back up?
Treat them as one backup set: adventurelog_db holds users, adventures, locations, collections and settings, while adventurelog_media holds uploaded images and attachments. Take a PostgreSQL dump or stop the app briefly before a snapshot, keep a copy off the server and test a restore.
Is AdventureLog free and open source?
Yes. AdventureLog is distributed under the GNU General Public License v3.0, with its source on GitHub. You pay xCloud for the server it runs on, not for AdventureLog, and nothing in this template is locked behind a paid tier.
Who owns the data stored in AdventureLog?
You do. Users, adventures and photos sit in the adventurelog_db and adventurelog_media volumes on your Cloud VPS, with no third-party travel service holding a copy. Each location can be marked private or public, so an entry is shared only when you choose.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. There is no lock-in — cancel any time. Hosting is billed monthly and charged for what you actually use, so when you delete the server the unused balance is refunded to your account, less up to 10% in payment-processing fees.
