Christmas Community hosting on xCloud gives your family a private, self-hosted gift wishlist app on your own domain, so everyone can see what people want and avoid double-gifting. Deploy Christmas Community 1.42.0 and xCloud runs the pinned image as one container with an embedded database, creates your administrator before the app starts, and publishes it over HTTPS on your own domain in just a few minutes.
Self-hosted Christmas Community is a web app for your family's Christmas shopping. Upstream's README says its purpose is to give your whole family one simple place to find gifts that people want and avoid double-gifting, and the template README adds that each person keeps a wishlist that others can see and mark items on as bought without the owner finding out. It is a self-hosted alternative to wishlist services such as Giftster, licensed AGPL-3.0.
On xCloud the template runs wingysam/christmas-community 1.42.0, pinned by digest, as one container with an embedded database and no separate database service. A single christmas_community_data volume holds the databases, profile pictures and the session secret. The administrator is created before the app starts, and the administrator makes accounts for everyone else.
Running a family wishlist yourself normally means a container, a data volume, a first-run admin account, a domain and a certificate before anyone adds a gift idea. This is the same result without assembling any of it.
Step 01
Create your xCloud account and pick Christmas Community from the OneClick catalog. Choose your domain and target server, and optionally change the administrator username (default admin); the password is generated unless you set your own.
Step 02
One click. We bring up the upstream Christmas Community image, pinned by immutable digest, as a single container with an embedded database, create the administrator account before the first start, mount the christmas_community_data volume, and publish it over HTTPS on your domain. The first start creates its databases and usually takes about a minute.
Step 03
Save the administrator password from the protected installation credentials, open your HTTPS Christmas Community URL and sign in. Create accounts for family members inside the app, then add the first wishlist item.
Christmas Community runs in full here: a wishlist app for your family and friends, on your own domain, with its data on a volume you control.
Each person keeps their own wishlist, and family and friends can browse it and mark items as bought without the owner finding out.
Upstream built it as a simple place to find the gifts people want and to avoid double-gifting.
Wishlists need a login unless you opt in to LISTS_PUBLIC or a shared GUEST_PASSWORD, and the administrator creates the accounts.
Users can have profile pictures, stored on the data volume, with the upload size limit set to 5 MB in this template.
Set SINGLE_LIST=true so only the administrator's list is available, as upstream suggests for a wedding or birthday.
An embedded database lives in the same container, so there is no separate database service to configure or keep private.
Managed hosting for Christmas Community, so the parts that keep it online are not your problem.
Each relative keeps a wishlist, and the others see it and mark items as bought, so gifts are not duplicated and the owner is not told what was already taken.
An organiser uses single-list mode so the app shows only one list, the administrator's, for an occasion where guests simply need to know what to buy.
A host makes lists readable without an account by setting LISTS_PUBLIC, or gives guests one shared password, instead of creating an account for every relative.
A family that would rather not keep its wishlists on a shopping site's account hosts the app itself, with lists, accounts and profile pictures on a volume it can back up.

xCloud works really well, I am surprised by its performance being this the release version, I have tried many paid platforms such as runcloud, cloudpages or serveravatar, as well as free platforms such as CyberPanel, CloudPanel or Hestia Control Panel and direct competitors such as SpinupWP and FlyWP. Of all those that I have tried, the platform that works best for WordPress is SpinupWP and I believe that xCloud can reach and surpass that development, its roadmap is promising. Congratulations to the xCloud team, I hope they become the leading platform in the segment, it has all the potential to achieve it!
Brian GeovannyI've been with runcloud for the last 3 years. However, after trying xcloud for the last month, I'm switching over. They are on a roll with their setup.
Kevin PinedaI'm moving my servers to xCloud, a cloud control panel by M Asif Rahman and the WPDeveloper team. Their roadmap looks interesting and no, there are no team mates nor API limits with xCloud! #xCloud #wordpress #hosting
Leo KooHow Cloud Nine Web Elevated Client Experience While Streamlining Hosting Operations using xCloud
Ed EllinghamxCloud is like having an expert server team on call — without the big agency costs. It's given me back my time and given my clients peace of mind. Highly recommended for freelancers and small teams who want reliable performance and security.
Dumitru ButucelxCloud isn't just a solution. It's like one of that friend who got your back when you screw things up pretty bad.
Waqar AhmedTrust me when I say, once people explore the potential of xCloud they gonna switch from other panels, just keep delivering the best tech, lots of love for the team 😍😍
Rahul SinghSo far my experience has been smooth like silk. I didn't imagine that configuring and managing a VPS would be so easy. As of today, I have deployed 8 sites. The support is good, and they treat users with respect, even if they ask stupid questions (myself included). For the future, I hope for greater flexibility in scheduled backups and more comprehensive and consistent documentation. I'm sure that within a few months, xCloud will become the leader in its segment. This community is amazing, and the Staff here is super helpful.
Massimo VillaCame from cloudways then to runcloud then to xcloud. Looks like I'm staying here.
Gerson ElI've recently taken all of my Vultr-hosted sites and gotten rid of cPanel for them to substitute it with xCloud. I have to say, I'm really impressed with xCloud so far! The interface is definitely the standout feature for me.
Tony LewisI came from Cloudways and won't go back. Highly impressed with xCloud. Glad I gave them a chance.
Jared McDowellI like xCloud better than RunCloud, but one thing I'll point out is that some years ago RunCloud was hungry for business, the support was outstanding, and the community was active and helped each other. Maybe it was sold, there was a change in management, or they stopped being hungry, but the quality of the RunCloud offering declined and it hasn't been moving forward quickly. My point is that currently the xCloud team has the edge and it is theirs to keep or lose
David McCanHow Kevin Heinrichs Cut Hosting Costs by 84% While Running WooCommerce & Node.js Sites Efficiently
Kevin HeinrichsI had 150 sites on cloudways and am in the process of moving them to xcloud. Much faster and better priced.
Dan SpinozaDear xCloud Team, I have been using xCloud for some time now and am genuinely impressed with its capabilities and the flexibility it offers by allowing users to bring their own VPS for management. It's a fantastic service, and my experience so far has been very positive. Successful migrated 5 sites on a single server. Xcloud migration tool worked great. There were few hiccups with security plugin like MalCare but disabling the plugin prior to migration worked just fine.
Rahil MaknojiaCame from runcloud. Tried xcloud and never came back.

Yes. The repository carries the GNU Affero General Public License v3, so the app has no licence charge. xCloud bills for the dedicated Cloud VPS, and the wishlists stay on your own volume. This template adds no paid tier.
Yes, and upstream's README gives a docker run command. This template does it for you: the wingysam/christmas-community 1.42.0 image, pinned by digest, as one container with a data volume behind HTTPS. It is Christmas Community Docker hosting without a compose file.
Christmas Community needs 512 MB of RAM, 1 CPU core and 2 GB of disk, and the 6 GB Cloud VPS sold here is plenty for a Christmas Community cloud install. A single container with an embedded database suits one family.
Upstream's purpose is to find gifts that people want and avoid double-gifting, and the template README says others can mark items as bought without the owner finding out. The list owner therefore does not see which of their items were taken.
Not by default. Wishlists require a login unless you opt in: setting LISTS_PUBLIC to true makes lists readable without logging in, and GUEST_PASSWORD lets guests read lists with one shared password. Anyone who can reach the site can still see the login page.
The app cannot send email and there are no SMTP settings, so password resets are links the administrator generates for the user. The administrator also creates accounts for everyone else inside the app, since public sign-up is not exposed.
Open your HTTPS URL and sign in with the administrator username and password from your credentials. The account is created automatically before the app starts, only while the user database is empty, so the public setup page is never exposed to visitors.
Take a backup of the christmas_community_data volume, which holds the databases, profile pictures and the session secret. Everything lives there, so one copy keeps wishlists, accounts and pictures. Stop the container for a consistent copy and test a restore.
Version 1.42.0 is pinned by digest and the container never runs npm update at runtime, so nothing upgrades on its own. When xCloud publishes a newer Christmas Community template version, back up the data volume, read upstream's notes, and adopt that template version.
Yes. There is no lock-in — cancel any time. Hosting is billed monthly and charged for what you actually use, so when you delete the server the unused balance is refunded to your account, less up to 10% in payment-processing fees.
Connect your first server in minutes. No plan you have to grow into.
