What is Traccar?

Is Traccar free?
Yes — Traccar is free and open source under the Apache License 2.0. What you pay xCloud for is the dedicated server it runs on and the management around it, not the software itself.
Can I self-host Traccar?
Yes — that is exactly what this template deploys. It brings up the official Traccar image, pinned by immutable digest, generates a secure first administrator, allocates a device port, mounts persistent storage, and publishes it over HTTPS on your domain in minutes instead of assembled by hand.
Who becomes the administrator, and how do I sign in?
xCloud generates the first administrator account before Traccar becomes healthy, shown once in your Credentials panel. Open the generated HTTPS URL and sign in with those credentials — invalid or default credentials are rejected.
How do devices send their locations?
This OneClick baseline exposes one OsmAnd-compatible HTTP endpoint on an allocated public TCP port. Add the device in Traccar first, then configure an OsmAnd-compatible client with that device's unique identifier and the allocated endpoint — the broad upstream protocol-port range is not exposed.
Is the web dashboard encrypted?
Yes. Traccar's web UI and API stay localhost-bound; xCloud publishes them through managed HTTPS.
What does xCloud configure automatically?
The pinned Traccar image, a secure first administrator, the allocated device port, persistent storage, the domain and the HTTPS route.
What should I back up?
traccar_data and traccar_logs together — traccar_data holds the embedded database and every tracking record, traccar_logs holds application logs. Back up both from the same point in time.
Does xCloud automatically back up or update Traccar?
No. The template pins the official Traccar image by immutable digest; a catalog re-sync affects new installations only. Before changing the pinned image, review upstream release and schema-migration notes and verify a current backup of traccar_data and traccar_logs.
Should I restrict the device port?
Yes. Restrict the allocated device port with the server firewall wherever possible, opening it only to the ranges your tracking devices actually connect from.
What are the server requirements, and why does this page sell 6 GB?
The template manifest asks for 2 CPU cores, 2 GB of RAM and 10 GB of disk as a floor for Traccar. Per xCloud's own sizing rule, a manifest floor at or under 2 GB sells the 6 GB tier as the entry rung, with real headroom above that floor as your fleet grows.
What survives a restart?
Everything on traccar_data and traccar_logs, because both are persistent named volumes — devices, positions, history and logs all persist across an xCloud Restart.
Is xCloud officially partnered with Traccar?
No. No official partnership or endorsement between xCloud and the Traccar project has been verified. This is a deployment and server-management option for the open-source Traccar project.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. There is no lock-in — cancel any time. Hosting is billed monthly and charged for what you actually use, so when you delete the server the unused balance is refunded to your account, less up to 10% in payment-processing fees.
