What is ChirpStack?
ChirpStack is an open-source LoRaWAN network server that can be used to set up LoRaWAN networks. It provides a web interface for managing gateways, devices and tenants, data integrations with the major cloud providers, databases and services commonly used for handling device data, and a gRPC based API for integrating or extending it.
It is released under the MIT licence. This template deploys version 4.19.2 together with PostgreSQL, Redis and an Eclipse Mosquitto MQTT broker, so a working instance is ready without assembling the stack yourself.

Create your xCloud account and pick ChirpStack from the OneClick catalog. Choose your domain and target server, and optionally set the administrator password — leave it empty and xCloud generates one.

Add Your First Gateway
Open your HTTPS ChirpStack URL and sign in as admin (the first start creates the database and can take a minute or two). Add a gateway under Gateways, create an application, device profile and devices, then point the gateway at the MQTT host and port from your credentials, with the chirpstack username and MQTT password.

How do I sign in for the first time?
Open your HTTPS ChirpStack URL and sign in as admin with the password you set at install, or the generated one from the protected installation credentials. The first start creates the database and can take a minute or two. The upstream default admin/admin is rejected.
Does ChirpStack work with Semtech UDP packet forwarders?
Not directly. The template exposes MQTT, not UDP. Run the ChirpStack Gateway Bridge or MQTT Forwarder next to the gateway and point it at this broker.
Which regions are supported?
The template enables EU868, US915 (channels 0–7), AU915 (channels 0–7), AS923, IN865, KR920 and RU864. A gateway selects its region through the MQTT topic prefix it publishes under.
What runs alongside ChirpStack?
PostgreSQL, Redis and Eclipse Mosquitto, in the same install. You do not need to add them. PostgreSQL and Redis have no host ports.
How do gateways connect to the MQTT broker?
The broker is published as a raw TCP host port. Use the MQTT host and port from the installation credentials with the chirpstack username and the generated MQTT password. Anonymous and wrong-password publishes are refused.
Is the MQTT port encrypted?
No. It is plaintext TCP and open to the internet, so restrict it to your gateway addresses with your firewall where you can, and treat the MQTT password like an API key.
How do I change the passwords?
Change the admin password in the web interface under Users; the install-time value is applied only once. The MQTT password is applied on every start, so after changing it, update every gateway to the new password.
What should I back up?
The postgres_data volume, which holds users, gateways, devices, applications and device data, so it keeps your network configuration and device keys. Also keep the generated values in the credentials panel: the admin password, the MQTT password and the stable settings in the environment. redis_data holds device sessions and frame state, and mosquitto_data holds broker persistence.
What survives a restart?
Tenants, gateways, devices and applications. After restarting all containers on QA, the login worked and the test application was still listed.
Does xCloud automatically back up or update ChirpStack?
No. The template pins ChirpStack 4.19.2 by immutable digest; new installations use the pinned release and existing sites are not automatically upgraded. Back up the database volume first, read the upstream release notes, then bump the readable tag and digest together on your own schedule. Server-level backups and snapshots are available on every Cloud VPS.
What are the server requirements, and why does this page sell 6 GB?
The template's baseline asks for 1 CPU core, 1024 MB of RAM and 5 GB of disk; measured idle use in QA was about 160 MB across all four containers. This page sells the 6 GB tier as the entry rung, with real headroom above that baseline.
Is xCloud officially partnered with ChirpStack?
No. No official partnership or endorsement between xCloud and the ChirpStack project has been verified. This is a deployment and server-management option for the open-source ChirpStack project.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. There is no lock-in — cancel any time. Hosting is billed monthly and charged for what you actually use, so when you delete the server the unused balance is refunded to your account, less up to 10% in payment-processing fees.
